Got a smartphone? Download AppTrailers and AppJoy+ for residual income while you're at the PC.

They pay you a little bit for watching advertisement videos and trying apps, and let you cash out for Amazon gift cards.

Other apps have other models, such as CheckPoints having you scan UPC codes on specific products in stores in return for points, saving up for gift cards. This will help you save a few dollars on whatever purchases you make. Plenty of steam keys available.

While at my PC, I would look at my phone screen randomly. If I saw that it wasn't playing an advertisement, I just needed to tap a button to load a new video. Doesn't pay much per view, but pennies add up. I managed to save around 40 USD over three months, which I applied to the purchase of some RAM and a video card cooling system.

It is important not to compare this with job income. This is passive income, comparable to having a fansite with an advertisement banner linked to Google AdWords.

Anyone else tried this with these or similar methods?

These are all a huge waste of time. 40 over three months? You can make that in a day in the most basic professions.

True, but you're not at your basic profession while you're gaming. This is passive income. Do not compare it to active income.

not entirely passive, you have to keep an eye on it and make sure it's playing an ad. Sure that's not MUCH activity, but it is SOME activity. Plus, you have to compare it vs. the lost money spent on electricity charging up the phone for the energy it spends displaying the ads, and possibly data costs for downloading the ads. If you pay for your own data/electricity you may be losing money, especially if it's only really making you <$0.50 per day. And honestly, at that price it doesn't even seem worth my time to install the app.

My apartment cost includes electricity.

If you're charging from work, no cost to you. Charging from home still costs a minimal amount.

For people on wifi and don't have bandwidth caps, bandwidth is free once you pay for access, which you already have done if you're gaming online. You do not get reimbursed for unused bandwidth on an uncapped contract.

I did say "if" regarding the electricity and data. But even if you don't pay for any of that, it still doesn't seem worth the effort of even occasionally making sure an ad is playing for $0.50 per day. People tend to forget that there are costs other than monetary costs. My time/attention/overall happiness that would be ever so slightly detracted by managing this thing on my phone is worth more than $0.50 per day to me. Other people have different priorities, I'm just saying, as Heinlein once said: "TANSTAAFL". "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch". Everything has a price, whether it's in time, effort, cash, respect, or any other thing that has some form of value.

That 40 was not every day. It's not even close to 'as often as I can'. It's here and there. Maybe I'm getting up to get a drink. push botton Going to the restroom push button waiting for a game to load push button This is not something that you manage. Deciding what to have for breakfast requires more effort.

Not often at all. No effort added to my daily activities outside of flicking a finger once.

TANSTAAFL. I always wondered how I should pronounce that, if at all. Tanz Tafel? Means 'dancing panel' in German.

No, but you should be using that as down time, for better job performance and possibly more money in thefuture.

Tremor Games has a collection of games with achievements in them. These achievements give Tremor Coins, which can be redeemed for Steam keys.

They're all flash games, but some are great fun on their own. Remember Binding of Isaac.

They stop paying after the first few times. I used to do it. You should look at mPoints.

They stop paying as much after the first time. Five or so more times, and they stop paying until new offers appear. This is why this is not a job, but instead something to make me get paid for tapping my screen before walking away from the desk.

I'll look into mPoints.

I meant they won't send you the money. I got a payment, then earned more, requested it, and I never got paid. I sent an email to the support and never got a response.

I don't have a smartphone myself, but can give a few other nice ways to get some extra cash:

Amazon Mechanical Turk - Run by Amazon, lets you get money for doing easy stuff like surveys and such. Money is sent to your Amazon Payments account and can be withdrawn to your bank or added to your Amazon gift balance. I've made some pretty decent money there, of course this isn't something that will replace a job. But sure can help folks who want to get deals on Amazon and lack a credit card since it's pretty easy to earn a couple of bucks a day with very little time spent.

Bing Rewards - get credits for searching basically. You can redeem the credits for some nice stuff, best thing of course is Amazon gift cards. There's sites out there that do searches automatically for you and you can have up to 5 accounts per IP address (just don't sign up for all of them at once).

These two things are why I consistently have at least a few bucks in my Amazon gift balance.

I'm gonna test this amazon mechanical turk, Is the address in signup important (real address needed)? If not I'm just gonna use my current USA address in my amazon account.

I know they allow users in multiple counties and they do require tax related details for US folks, so I'd advise to put in your correct address as you likely don't have a social security number.

I placed my real address, now I'm scared. It says they are reviewing my account. I'm scared that they might disable my amazon account lol

There's legit reasons why people might have a different address though. People have bank accounts in other countries, move around a lot, etc. I've dealt with customers who have payment options in one country and live in another quite often actually. You likely have nothing to worry about at all. They care more that you aren't a spambot and actually will pay attention when doing the stuff people put up.

I managed to squeeze about $35 out of Bamboo Wallet/Juno Wallet and Gosh! combined.

Stopped going after that because as everyone else is saying, there is easier money to be made elsewhere.
