Finally... TBH i liked this round less than previous, frustration is expected by design so i accept my torture, what i actually didn't like is how very long this quest was or how long it felt, i had constant problems with consumables and not having a decent weapon so i had to grind monsters A LOT, i literally walked in circles for hours of real time to get what i need and that made this iteration of sWords a worse experience compared to previous ones (for me).
What i liked is that there are more interaction between players and thanks to all those who helped me, particularly Server himself and Quantum (i actually ate almost all those potions aside from those that i donated to others but later had to grind more -_-). I wish chat range was bigger, even though it wont be "realistic" or whatever the reason was.
Changes to combat system didn't feel quite right, more of additional burden than improvement, it works decently though. I'd like to see my buffs/debuffs more clearly, like icons from your average rpg or something. I wish concussion wasn't even in game at all, monsters that have it seem to LOVE applying it and the nature of status effect is so cruel, it pretty much completely screws your combat ability for the duration.
As i wrote before i think status removal consumables should apply like a 5 turns resist of at least 5 to that status, i had several status streaks when i had 3 and more same status effects right after the previous was removed or wear off.

Blind wasn't too bad unless you get into battle, then my hpots flew away rather quickly. Disorientation streak was QUITE annoying and i actually used that trick to choose other direction knowing it from previous sWords but it wasn't rare that i walked where i clicked, most of the time i wasted energy checking some VERY INTERESTING wall over and over again.

I keep working on the game and will be improving it over time. Each game is a kind of open test as well since I can clearly see how good/bad things work only when a lot of people are playing it (and I don't have a huge team of testers to make closed tests), I make notes on things which need improvements and do some changes on the fly as well. I will be trying to make the experience more and more enjoyable as long as people will be providing their feedback. Thanks again and enjoy your treasures!

I would really appreciate it, either that or make it so barbarians only find potions/weapons/artifacts when checking, I have a ton of valuable scrolls that are useless to me and I've lost so much xp running away just to get back to level one and get potions.

How about no, they are an extremely useful advantage for mages, there's a reason why so many mages finished already, they should sell for a lot so they can be replaced with potions. I mean teleportation scrolls alone are worth a fortune because of how much time and potions/deaths you save by skipping entire sections.

I agree that scrolls right now give mages an advantage over the other classes. I'd prefer to see that balanced though by having the other classes have unique advantages / items they can only use. For instance lockpicks & trap detection items and have those only be usable by thieves. Selling in shop in my opinion should be a last resort because there's no one around to trade with (instead of being the default thing to do).
On the subject of scrolls:
The higher tier scrolls are not that useful right now; by the time you are able to use them they are not really necessary due to all kinds of abilities & weapons that give energy / an overflow of energy potions / monsters not really being a threat anymore. I think i used one second breath scroll and zero resurrection scrolls. I used a bunch of teleportation scrolls for ease of use, but I didn't really need to in terms of energy.
Most useful were acceleration, invisibility and regeneration. And even regeneration was pretty useless due to the insane amount of health potions I was collecting.
Note: I should add that I don't know how hard a time barbarians / thieves are having fighting mobs at higher levels; for me as a mage that was pretty much risk less past level 10.

I did played several rpg-likes web-based ones some time ago, IIRC it was dgemu site which had roms and lots of info, it also had a rpg-game in which you had attacks, skills and even a custom shout :P grinded that one and amassed quite a fortune with the bank system, then I kinda forgot about it, maybe it's still there or it's all gone, idk..
Also, played a flash one called Brutus or bruteman, something like that, imagine pokemon fighting but with err humans. Same concept, cute graphics, way too much grinding and LUCK. I left it too.
There are others but I don't remember the names, oh well..
I for an instant felt curious enough to try this one OP, but some comments put me off as it seems it still is kinda EA :P
right now I may not want to spend that much time grinding and betatesting it, right now I feel more like playing and having fun for shorter periods of time, thus the joke of "remind me in XX days" so IF and WHEN I try this game it'd be more diamond-ish than a rock :P
Hoping not to be too harsh, I kinda never fully grasped concepts of proper wording and often than not someone takes it the wrong way.. what can I do?
try to be as humble, honest, funny and polite and hope for the best plus you can't please everybody so there's that! :P

This game is my hobby project, I am not a professional programmer and don't have a team to help me develop or properly test it, thus I develop this game with the help of feedback and ideas of the community. I basically started learning programming with this game (I had no idea how to program just a year ago), so making the top-notch game off the bat was an impossible task at this moment. I still do my best and devote an enormous amount of my free time to it :) I'll keep improving it as long as people will keep playing it and providing their feedback. I would be very happy if you at least gave it a try if you are even slightly interested - it might not be as raw as you might think and it doesn't cost you anything, but of course it is totally up to you :)

Thank you Server for reading and taking a positive attitude with your reply, I must apologize if I gave you the impression I wanted top notch development or something alike; who I am to ask you (or anybody else) that? I sure haven't funded your project nor learnt to code so what do I know about it? Sure, as long as you're invested, interested in improving things and people play then that's the way to go!
I didn't mentioned this before but I do like and enjoy indie developments if they suit my tastes or at least make me curious, I in no way attempted to criticize or anything when I haven't tried it myself. BTW, how long are we talking? (as per "mandatory" playtime to get anywhere or reach checkpoints, goals, etc? I mean if there isn't a save or even pass code like some old games, you know, not a game you can "finish" in one siting, then it could be tricky :P
Since I'm jumping in this boat at least 3 days later, so this would end in about 4 days or so?
Anyways I'll def keep an eye on this, seems like a nice small community here and that could potentially make it even worth-ier :)

hey, I've been "playing" it for the past hour... IDK (truly) if it's bugged or something, but I literally did 1 step and fell asleep (napping) 11 mins waiting, ok, then, back again, what now? how do I recover outside battle? there's no meditation button, only in battle, which I'm too tired to run, too exhausted to fight, no corpses left to check and well you get the idea.
Now I know..
This feels a little like those pesky facebook games; you have ALOT of ginding, too much time wating and actually too little playtime. All it's missing for now it's ads or pay2win gems items, a go premium button.
I'm sorry, but read all the info in Library, read everything there is, and it gave me the impression it would be different, that I could advance quicker, idk, perhaps I'm just unlucky.
Good luck with your project tho, graphical environment, wording (no pun intended :P) and color effects are really nice and eye-catching :)
btw, I'm using slimjet, which I believe it's chromium based so it should be ok (as in no firefox nor explorer or edge).

Completed the quest.
Only went down once I farmed some gear and talents on the first floor. I was lvl 8 or 9 going down.
I felt talents needed to be leveled, especially as mage for the concentration consumption.(30% at start, 15% in the end).
I had almost no energy potions going down, but I found enough of those down there.(meditation for the win. :P).

Nope, was careful with that stuff. And after I revived myself with a potion I later got blinded 4 times in a row and consumed so many potions because I could hit a damn thing. Heck I still am blinded.
EDIT: Update, I have finally regained my sight after 20 years aaaaand disoriented. (flips table)

Possible Bug Report:
I just got blinded and yet I was brave fool enough to fight a badass lizard.
In every move that lizard hits me more than 100 and yet my hp it wasn't affected.
When the long combat aka me in god like mode vs sucky lizard its over i got 2.6k of hp !! possible the hits are increasing and not decreasing my hp.

How do I cure disorientation?
Why isn't my concentration increasing while defending?
How do I stop other playing from attackeing me?
Is there a way to stop steam from asking for authentication everytime? Its getting really annoying to have to get out my authenticator to play this.

Disorientation disappears after 11 steps/checks(without resistance) or with a clearance scroll. You never do things in the direction you click, you could use that to your advantage.
There is a limit to max concentration depending on hp and ep. It also needs to be successful(you block or enemy misses)
There are some artifacts that have that effect, but otherwise, nothing to do about that.
You could try to log in to steam normally on the browser and check the remember me, but I haven't tried that.

Max concentration is (%current hp + %current ep)/2, when hp and ep are full(100%), if you have no ep but full hp, the max is 50%.
So if you have no ep or hp, the limit is very low.
Just keep using your weapon, after enough uses you need less concentration to attack.(15% lowest).

Then you may need to check and kill more monsters .
I am a mage too and only used the mage weapon 2 times, they use too much concentration , and with the melee and ranged weapon I can hit even with 0% energy and If I am lucky enough , I can get a small energy potion.
Granted, It is really hard to get started, and the steal energy skill is not as helpful as it seems.

I would still suggest to use your mage weapon since all the skillpoints you put in wizardry helps to give it more dmg.
If you use it enough, your concentration consumption goes down to 15% in the end.
Also meditate, will use a lot of energy at start, but that goes down as well and if your positive karma is good enough, you will eventually find items when meditating.

Question: I got the gold key and made my way to use it. Tried to resurrect someone along the way and it said "Can't use skill while carrying Heart of the Dungeon." Is this a bug? I still have to grab the thing, right?

Well, I finally beat it as Barbarian! SErVER, I hope that you know how evil you can be with some of those traps! I have some questions about the map and some of the things I encountered but I'll wait until after the game is complete so that I don't give any spoilers away.

Guys! I feel bad and terribly sorry that the experience turned out to be quite frustrating for many of you. I definitely did not intend to make it so and definitely want to change that. It was difficult to foresee how certain things would work in real game with lots of people (I don't have a large group of testers to properly test all the aspects of the game and mostly test it alone or in a group of couple people). I have made some important updates aimed to fix the main sources of frustration and hope the experience will be better from now.
A huge thanks to all those who share their ideas and suggestions to help me make things better instead of just complaining and pouring out negative emotions!

I have been stuck in a cycle of death/resurrection since yesterday because when I come back later to check after the resurrection time is over, I find myself blinded, cursed, disoriented and bleeding and even if I remove the curse and put Eye Drops because I only had Eye Drops and Holy Water and then die because of bleeding, I still get blinded, cursed, disoriented and bleed when I next get resurrected and sometimes poisoned
So, what is this? I'm not even spending my two last Holy Water bottles because I know it won't work and I can't do anything about it...

All of us like playing games, and all of us like winning games. So, how about playing a game and winning games while playing?
Introduction
Game of sWords is a text RPG Adventure where you can explore dungeons, upgrade your hero, find useful items, weapons and artifacts, avoid deadly traps, fight dangerous monsters and interact with other players while searching for treasures (private SteamGifts giveaways links) on your way and trying to complete a quest to get access to a huge amount of private giveaways! Each quest has a limited number of winners split between 3 available classes - Barbarian, Wizard and Thief, so the chances in each giveaway will always be great.
All giveaways have no restrictions, so anyone who finds them can join them!
A lot of giveaways have been contributed by the community members, and I would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who made a contribution! :)

Important notes about the Game
You hero has Energy Points and Health Points.
Most of the actions require Energy Points. Energy can be replenished using items which you can find everywhere, thus it is important to check everything around you!
Energy also replenishes over time and that time can be reduced with special artifacts that can be found during the adventure.
Note, that the Energy won't be replenishing during the battles (you can only restore it with potions)!
If you lose all your Health Points, you will also lose all the Energy you had plus you will have to wait for a few hours to be resurrected. Energy can not be replenished while you are dead!
Note: If you have problems navigating through the map, you can switch to Simplified Navigation at the bottom right corner.
I highly recommend to visit sWords Library that has a lot of other useful information that will help you in the adventure
What's new in Game of sWords?
It's been more than half a year since the previous Game, and, obviously, it has a lot of changes and improvements! Adventures this time will get even bigger, with more variety in everything: items, monsters, traps, weapons, artifacts, interaction, you name it!
The Game now has sounds which can be activated by clicking a Note symbol at the bottom right corner and a Chat window which can be used to communicate with other adventurers and see what is happening around you!
You can also trade with other adventurers through the Chat using following command: /trade amount item(s) you have for amount item(s) you want
E.g.
/trade 5 small healing potions for 3 small energy potions
/trade 5 acceleration scrolls for 100 coins
The Game also has a new design a a new engine which makes all kinds of interactions happen in real time.
Note: The Game engine is not properly supported by Internet Explorer (you will encounter all kinds of nasty bugs there) and it is recommended to use one of the following browsers: Chrome (perfect), Opera (perfect) or Firefox (great, but the game works a tiny bit slower and sounds sometimes mess up a little).
Current Winners limits: Barbarians:10, Mages:10, Thieves:10.
Winners get access to all giveaways available in the Game! (50+)
Everyone who finishes the Game after the limit is reached (while it is still runnning) gets 1 random treasure as a consolation prize!
All giveaways end in about a week! The Game will last for a week.
