bump, because I enjoyed the rally story, the train and the good news about your thesis :)

Happy birthday! Have a great day! :D
Also good luck with your thesis. My bachelor thesis was horrible, as I had bad supervisor and I lost interest in writing it, in the end I had to rewrite it. But my magister thesis is completely different thing. I am so proud of it, my best work. Shameless praise: I got the highest marks for it. X) ;)
Nice reading and pics, btw. Good luck in your future studies as well, if you decide to continue. ;)

Thanks for the wishes :)
Yeah, I had to rewrite thesis as well. But that was my fault :D my supervisor was really cool dude and he was the one who helped me come up with another topic. Probably owe him some good brandy or whiskey for the huge help :D
Im thinking of continuing on to masters studies. But not in engineering but maybe business or human resources. What field did you study in?

Well, I don't want it to sound that I blame only my teacher for it, but our communication was sure to blame. I had some "vision", but he didn't liked it so the thesis was slowly changing and I lost my interest. Also he didn't give me any advices or so. In the end after I corrected the thesis I got better marks from opponent teacher. And that made me proud a little. ;)
It¨s only good you had good supervisor! My other one was like that. Even thought he kept telling me that I won't make it and everything, in the end after I had given him the complete work he said that I have surprised him very much. X)
Both of my studies were in history field - on bachelor general history and on magister modern history.
That's really a change from engineering! Not interested in continuing?

But to be honest a good supervisor is an important aspect in writing a good thesis. I noticed that some of my class mates had bad communication with their supervisors and/or they didnt help a lot. And in the end very smart people wrote rather bad theses just because of that.. Good researches and good projects made but the paper written on it is unstructured and bad..
I was thinking about continuing engineering but there are almost no companies that manufacture stuff related to cars in my country. And the ones that do are no interest to me. So I just figured there is no real use for masters in the field which has no work here. Also my Uni isnt really that prestigious and I doubt that companies abroad much care about whether I have bachelor or master in a field from no-name Uni.
If I decide to open my own company, master in business would be tad more practical. Or maybe study marketing or sales if I decide to go work something in that field.. Im looking at a vacancy in big company now. Its for junior project manager. No previous experiences but needs to know English at a professional level. I hope I can pass that, but we'll see

.... and yesterday I handed in my Bachelors thesis. Had a rough half a year writing it, but on to that in a bit.
Results are in - I got a 9 in my thesis work. super psyched about it. On 21st I have graduation and officially am an engineer :D
Thank you all for the wishes who I didnt answer directly as well :) Appreciated
Turning 24 today. Sadly I wont be celebrating today as I had to move away from my hometown so everyone is back there, but Im happy to create a train as well, as I havent made a post or GA for some time.
Regarding the bachelors theses - I started to write it and when a month had passed it turned out to be not that thorough as I wanted and didnt really meet the criteria. So I had to change what I wrote about. Had less time and it was bit more stressful to come up with something else. In the end I wrote about horizontal road markings. Basically research on road safety regarding the markings. Handed it in yesterday and now its waiting game. I have to present it in front of jury now on June 10.
And the train ends on 10 of June as well.
The train goes on here, but further I write about my awesome experience in my internship/workplace. . Hope you find something for you on the train and find my little story interesting as well. Looking forward to discuss stuff if anyones interested. You can ask about rally as well if your interested and Id be glad to answer
Year started interesting - started an internship in rally racing team. We built Ford Fiesta rally cars and rented them for people. Met some interesting clients from all around the world - Japanese, Indians, Taiwanese, British, French.. Had a chance to go to Germany, Poland several times, Lithuania. Most exciting was a trip to Finland. We went to Lapland rally. Its beyond the polar circle (my first time going that far to north). Had constant -30 degrees celsius. Spent half an hour in the middle of night, in the middle of forest road with broken down car in -30 degrees. But I loved it and would love to go back again.
We went through Estonia there. We had a ferry to board in an early morning so we went in the evening and the plan was to spend the night in a hotel. It was 1 o`clock in the night. Google Maps lead us into some forest road and it ended going onto field. We got stuck with van that had the rally car on trailer. we fucked around for an hour and a half until we got everything unstuck. Had some 4 hours to sleep with 2 hour ferry ride, breakfast and full days drive through snowy Finland.
It was not just extreme for us but it was extreme for the car as well. It was our teams first experience with rally in such conditions. Car didnt work for most part, kept broking down and our lead mechanic kept working on it to try to fix it fully. In the end it worked great and we learned a lot and will know what to expect in the future when dealing with such conditions.
Sadly didnt stay with them due to lack of work as Rally after all is a pass time for rich people mostly. I still have contacts and I hope my ways will cross with them as rally is my passion but Im still excited about the time with them so wanted to share it here :)
Added some pictures. from top to bottom :
first is taken at service park that is in the middle of stages. The team has to go to designated place to fix the car. It was some 100 km from the actual service park where is all our stuff and its in open air. Embracing all the nature.
second picture is the place where we fueled the car (again in the middle of forest in the middle of stages)
third is the actual service park. Everyone is working on their cars shoulder to shoulder. With warm and colds drinks, some warm air being pumped in the tent and food.
forth is on the road to Lapland. Beautiful country and beautiful roads.
Reuploaded pics, hope they work now ;)
PS. Those who play Dirt Rally or Dirt 4 (any Dirt for that matter) or even Grid games feel free to add me on steam if you want to. I like comparing my times in racing games :)
