worse part of this event is figuring out what to use as the wrapping paper TT___TT

When you peek in a box the results will stay visible for the entire event, and you can quickly return to those boxes using the below page.

It might be about giving, that is obvious. But the problem is that the symbols are hard to see (very small), at least for me. When opened it changes colour. So that makes it much easier. There is already a filter for opened and peeked. I was just wondering if there was one reversed. So it would help a lot in visibility.

This is a brilliant idea, thanks to everyone that is participating!

Thanks! The updates sound good. I am one of those people with everything I don't want to play filtered, so I really liked that last year, but I can see how it is not fair for those that don't use the feature. The peeking feature definitely helps. I will use all 10 every day because when you only enter for games you are interested in playing, it is hard to find a box with something to enter.

Since Steam does not provide data regarding DLC it caused issues in the past where users would open a box to reveal DLC they already owned
Unfortunately it is still an issue with complete / deluxe editions. I just opened a box that was for a game + DLCs and I already own all of them.

Also games removed from Steam or which otherwise don't correctly show ownership info. Or even just preorder versions of some games. It's kinda impressive how many "I already own this" examples I've come across already. Still, a lot better than when DLCs and free games were allowed.. especially given that most trashware [eg, asset flips] has been previously free, which helps a lot as a natural filter.

Yes, it's not perfect but fairer for all people this time.
Anyway are around 150 add game tickets (to FREE) from me open and for sure a few from other people.
So it is clear far from all FREE games are marked as free.
and i don't report all... i haven't 24/7 time and 2x not for such stuff

Glad to see the event return, and the new peeking system is an excellent improvement.
Not claiming all the credit, but I seem to recall it's almost exactly what I suggested last year 😁
Nah, only kidding, sure it's just a case of great minds thinking alike 😅
Thanks for all the effort CG, and thanks to everyone who contributes!

Hi SG,
Santa has been running a little behind schedule, but the gift boxes have made another return to SteamGifts for 2020! There have been a few tweaks this year which are noted further below.
https://www.steamgifts.com/happy-holidays
How it works
Creating a gift box and giveaway
Opening gift boxes
Changes for 2020
How it works:
You can peek into 10 gift boxes each day. When you peek in a gift box, you'll see a random number of games (2-4) and one of them is contained within the gift box. You can then decide whether or not you want to open the gift box. This should stop trolling because if a user creates a box with the design for a highly desirable game, you can peek to see if it's actually one of the options. It should also help everyone to find boxes that better interest them, while still keeping a bit of mystery and excitement in the event.
No spoilers. Please do not share what games you found or what was contained inside of a gift box.
Happy holidays!
