I've seen many giveaways where the person who gifts doesn't want to be spammed with generic "thank you" messages. So how about an additional "Thank You" button that just registers the username of the people who press it but doesn't send a message to the gifter?

bots and scripters will be bots and scripters and if someone is really happy that he/she won game, it does not count so much to write even "thanks"...

  1. If I don't want comments, I'll post it in the giveaway description.
  2. If people don't read the description, they can be blacklisted at the creator's discretion.
  3. Thank you spam is a great way to catch the bots, and adding a button will just make them harder to detect.
  4. The more you automate on this site, the less "human" interaction there is, which is a bad thing to me.

I don't want it

If you win and don't really want to write thank you by yourself
You don't deserve to win
At least say thank you to make that you write appreciate the game that you won
Even though until this day many people don't

Well that just my opinion
But honestly no, big no

Those who post non-generic messages will continue to do so because this button won't provide an alternative.
Some of those who post generic thanks will use this button instead.

All gain, no pain. Easy +1

All for it. I don't comment when I have nothing special to say (unless I win) but I would hit the button every time for sure. Or of course if I have a question or something interesting to say I'd comment the same as I would today.

Gave it some thought. The way I see it, most people don't have trouble with the thanks themselves, but with the clutter they cause. A thanks button helps with that, but is generic.

One idea would be to put a 'Submit Thanks' in giveaways, alongside a normal 'Submit Comment'. Make the former more eye-catching, something that the user is more likely to click.

The site then needs to, first of all, not show the thanks under messages and not notify about them, and also give the ability to filter them out on the giveaway. It should still count them and show them on the giveaway page (2 comments, 97 thanks) and show them on the giveaway page if not filtered out, possibly in a different (perhaps more compact) way.

This way the site will both encourage posting thanks and let givers who are not interested in them ignore them.

Idk, some people blacklist you when you don't say "thank you" and some people blacklist you if you say "thank you"
This made me avoid commenting anything, espc. if the giver doesn't say anything <.<

As for my stat, February: 79 (thank you comments) resulted me in 3 blacklists.
Avoided commenting and in August I don't have any blacklist (yet).

So yeh, Idk what's best.

Hey Dinopos! I would like to post a suggestion discussion for a "Thank you" button along with linking this discussion as a supporting point, would that be fine?

You could have written to one of his old giveaways instead of raising this post from 6 feet under.

I wonder more whats the point with another thread thats also linking to this one, regarding the same topic for an 8 year old suggestion that wasnt implemented. Bumping this makes more sense than that.
