Uhm, sorry for the necro, but I wanted to report that upon trying to redeem the key that I got from this promotion - out of curiosity, I actually have no interest in this game, but wanted to see the message I would be getting when I attemptto redeem it - it activated successfully.
So their whole activation deadline thing is a HOAX!!

Yeah, they display a "key expires on [date]" thing.
I wonder if the key itself doesn't actually expire, but rather "if you don't reveal your key before [date] you might not have one at all".

If it's not revealed the key slot disappears and it mentions the key has expired. With giveaways like that the devs or publisher will deactivate the batch they give to a storefront on the date listed. Sometimes the dev or publisher just forgets to do it, or what I've mentioned below where there's cases that keys from the same batch are sold, and in that case it wouldn't be a good idea to deactive them.

Yeah... I've learned from the Humble threads to reveal the key as soon as I get it lol, even though I never bought bundles I apply that rule for the Fanatical freebies with hidden keys. 😆

I'd been leaving humbles unrevealed if they are duplicates of ones I have as an easy way to tell what's available, I figure since they have expiration dates if there's ever a problem I could be asigned a new one.

Sometimes the devs or publisher just forget to deactivate the key batch they gave a store, especially if it's been a long time. I'm sure there's cases where they make a mistake and sell keys from the same batch and in that case they definitely don't want to deactive them.

No. It's just someone chiming in to bring up the fact that their key didn't expire as it says it would've. That is all. ALWAYS check what the recent posts say before adding on to it to complain about something that is obvious. Sometimes it is just someone spamming. Sometimes it's just someone bringing up an interesting point that's even less to do with the actual topic but related to it. If you notice it's a year old thread, it's likely too old to be of any use, which is why you should read what the recent comment is about before assuming things.
