It's still one of the best multiplayer games on the market. Why should it die? Also, you can hardly see a contender as they have to be free and have low hardware requirements to attract a large number of players. It will work forever until Valve supports it.

Graphics are not that important. More people would have left the game a long time ago if it was.
But I agree that the real problem is that F2P damaged the community. Too many people started to play it just because it was free and most did not even bother to play the tutorials. I'll always remember when someone asked on a server: "How can I take another weapon from the ground?".
Still, it won't probably die as long as Valve keeps the updates coming.

TF has stayed relevant because of the F2P, though. The trading community is massive and many people, me and a lot of the unusual traders, would have quit the game a lot earlier if it wasn't for the trading.
Even then, there has been a lot of people cashing out in the last year.

Not untill TF2 Keys stops being as a community currency.

Question: How can I take another weapon from the ground?

You automaticly take them by walking over them when you dont have full ammunition.. but you wont get the weapon, you only refill ammo for your current weapon. You can change your weapon only in your inventory-screen and if you want new weapons, you either have to wait for itemdrops or get them in trading (you can almost always inta-trade two of your unneeded weapons for one weapon of your choice.. if you put more effort into it, you might also be able to get 1:1, 1:2 or even better trade-rates.)

Well, there is nothing wrong about adapting good ideas.. COD has an awesome metagame, its just too bad that the game itself is so damn boring.
TF2 with a rewarding Meta-System like COD would be lovely.

As soon as Dota 2 keys replace Tf2 keys as the major Steam currency.

When TF3 comes out using Source2 with new graphics, physics, etc.

Always sell off you items asap, regardless if the game is dead or not.
You have hats and metal that can be traded for actual games!

Probably, and hopefully never.
The game itself is so much fun. TF2 is the first game I install when I get a new PC. It also has a lot of character. Every single character has backstory and details you know about them (unless left intentionally murky). The art style is unique and good. Look at how generic the game could have looked.
If someone doesnt enjoy it anymore, its solely their problem, not the games. So if you wanna dump your items, go ahead.

I think it will start dying soon... The game it's almost 7 years now, new games are born, with more appealing graphics that will attract to new people... Personally, after more than 900 hours (since 2008) and 455 of 477 achievements achieved, it has lost my interest to play it anymore. I feel that the community left it, leaving only some players, splitted in normal and MvM modes, traders, some pro players and new people with no experience, playing it because it's free.
I think it's the perfect moment to sell all my item, now that they still have value, get the money and run. I'm a bit scared that Valve suddenly stops giving TF2 support and all my items lose all their value.
