Capitalization is a waste of time

I posted a public one and restricted it to Lvl 3 in the hopes that a few more people will read it and check out the thread. Ends on Dec. 15. As my account is really new, I don't have many giveaway slots, so just putting it up for 2 days.

I don't think this topic doesn't belong to SG. Rather forums like these with such huge base should definitely have some intellectual people discussing over topics like these so that the younger generation can learn not by a method of preaching but discovering.
These behaviors are not acceptable anywhere in any part of the world and it is our duty to make people aware and if it come to defending ourselves, so it will be!

please don't bring insignificant issues (like personal steamgifts drama) to this thread, especially when you are guilty of breaking 2 rules (no advertising and no whitelist begging) and you insist in playing the victim card.
if you want, add me to the bully list, since i agree with their replies in your closed thread. π€·

Bump! And yes I saw every comment and every edit.
Don't pull this stunt again. I chose not to say anything (until now) because I wanted you to realize that, while you may pull the wool over some people's eyes, you're not fooling everyone with these constant cries of victimization. You vastly underestimate the perception and intelligence of your "audience."
And that rant on your Steam group's page? The one you so quickly edited when Mully quoted it? No bones about it, that was some seriously fucked up shit.
"Removed at the creator's request" is an outright lie. You made excuses when she "requested" you take it elsewhere. You removed it 101 minutes after Mully's request and 6 minutes after Yeliena's comment. The timestamps speak volumes.

Hmm, I think a woman wearing shorts to certain jobs might be frowned upon too? I've worked in an office environment where it was knee-length skirt or trousers only. They also forced women to wear heels, no flats. I was taller than most of the guys in the office with heels, so I didn't like it. People tend to make jokes about stuff like that at work, but you have to pretend to find it funny. That dress code would be problematic if I still worked there since I physically can't wear heels right now. I have sciatica due to my back injury that causes a weakness in one of my feet where my ankle turns on it's side if I wear any kind of heel.
So yeah, some practices should definitely be looked at for both men and women. I can understand the need for men to wear shorts in countries where the summers get really hot.

Honestly I would appreciate if men could wear skirts someday, the Scots know that for ages π
Dress code sometimes is ridiculous...
The interest background of my sentence was that the source was from a very feminine website (afaik) which earned them some praise.
Another more serious fact, at least here in Germany long doctor coats are seen to much as a status symbol in hospitals. But their long sleeves are a potential risk and a bus for germs.
Currently residing in a hospital and most doctors even leave them on for lunch.
Sure damn practical they are with all the pockets.

I assume almost everybody has already seen this at this point since it was all over the internet when it happened last year but I still find it a very creative and funny way to adress a double standard.
Schoolboys turn up at school in skirts to protest 'no shorts' policy

Yeah, it is ridiculous, although, to be honest, I don't see any self-respecting guy wearing any of the hideous skirt things that they brought out at a fashion show in the past year. There were photos on the internet and it was supposedly directed at Scottish men. One guy in the comments was like "Oi, we may wear kilts, but you'll never catch a manly Scotsman in one of those." LMAO. They were frilly and gross. lol.
Fair play to the lads in the video lol, I hadn't seen it before. I find the rules ridiculous. Years ago, in our parents time, boys were allowed to wear short pants to school. Why the hell are they not allowed to wear smart shorts as part of their uniforms today. When I was in secondary school, they had started allowing the girls to wear the same trousers as the boys because they were freezing in the winter time. Although, I used to wear really thick tights, which worked for me. A lot of girls never wear skirts though, so the choice was theirs. It's a double standard if boys can't then wear shorts in the summer.

My ex started getting catcalled on the streets when she was 14. Its rediculou! I did not realize how donwtight creepy so many guys are until i opened my mind to hesring these stories. And every woman seems to have them
I tried discussing this with my best friend and he was extremely dismissive :/

Every woman, everywhere. There are places where it is much worse but I never met a woman who didn't have at least a couple of stories, some where they got actually scared, not just annoyed.
I tried discussing this with my best friend and he was extremely dismissive :/
Guys don't like being made to feel like creeps. He probably is ashamed of having acted that way before. Doesn't mean he's a creep but peer pressure makes guys do stupid things sometimes. I have been working in professional kitchens for years, I hear all sort of stories from guys too and the number of times I hear "now that I have a daughter, I feel ashamed of myself for saying or doing this"
I mean.... do you really have to wait until you have a daughter to act like a decent person around others? Even if you don't have a daughter, you have a mother, right?

I think a lot of it is denial because he didnt act like that, so obviously that means its overblown and women are making it up. His current wife has heen raped and i notice she holds some sexist beliefs against women as well. Love em both though, and to their credit we can still talk about things if we dont see eye to eye on em.
In that last case he has two boys and his mother killed herself when he was a baby. I know he has a soster though..

You can't agree with your friends on everything, that'd be boring, right? But yeah a lot of guys I've talked to in kitchens believe it's all exaggerated because either they never witnessed anything or because they did and thought it was all "in good fun" (somehow I think if another guy was humping them at work, they wouldn't think it was funny, especially if the guy was gay; they'd see it as an aggression but when it's a woman who says that, they think she doesn't take a joke)
His current wife has heen raped and i notice she holds some sexist beliefs against women as well
It happens. Sometimes it's a defense mechanism. I feel sorry she had to go through that regardless.

Tough way to grow up. But yeah most people do have people they are closed to who are women, doesn't have to be a mother; A lot of guys don't think much about their mothers but they have girlfriends, daughters, sisters, best friends, there aren't a lot of guys out there who live in complete isolation from women, right? So they should be able to imagine how they would feel if someone was "just" following them in the street, harassing them and being a general pest. If they can't, they should just imagine how they would feel if it was a guy doing that to them. I'm sure they wouldn't like it one bit.

I recently came across this thread thanks to all the bumps, and I'm glad you posted this because I think this can be an effective way to address such issues. While there might be other options, e.g. through education, we already have sexist, racist idiots (Google it!) in positions of power who also have some kind of a degree. However, raising awareness within someone's known circle may help in developing a moral compass that we so much lack nowadays. It is kind of a reverse peer pressure that would force people to refrain from doing stupid things. I do sometimes try to educate people in close circles about different things, but more often than not people think I'm from another planet. Not sure about the pepper-spray thing though, it might make the culprits more violent, as you have also mentioned. Good luck.

π Giveaways (moved to top for convenient leeching π):
If you want to share giveaways, please use this template:
copy everything inside the ` (even the opening/closing `grave accents`), edit and and paste it in your reply
Please use the format provided above! It's easier for me to copy-paste multiple giveaways in this thread. π€
It will take me a few days to update the list. To avoid having your giveaway not "showcased" set its duration to more than 5 days (unless you don't care, it's up to you).
Because I'm tired of getting catcalled and watching others in the street receive the same treatment, I decided to share some information with everyone in SG hoping that they can stop doing it and/or talk to their friends to make them reconsider their behavior.
Street harassment is unwanted and unwelcomed public attention, most often directed at women, which is demeaning and damaging. Itβs not a private matter but one that should concern everyone.
If you have trouble empathising with strangers, then think about your mother, sister, or girlfriend. Would you enjoy watching people catcalling and telling them nasty things? How do you think they would feel about it?
On an average day I go out twice and I get at least one guaranteed catcall. On weekends or when I go out, for example to a club, it gets worse because groups of people feel more empowered to do so.
A few months ago I was walking with a friend and one guy said things and started to follow us. After a while it ended with me turning around and pepper-spraying his face, then running away in case he could fight back. This is the kind of violence it generates.
We had a rough rest of the day and were shaken up. I didn't enjoy doing that at all, but he had to be stopped. I also like to think the guy didn't enjoy it either.
So in the end, what did he achieve? Nothing.
Edit
OK, I'm gonna clear this up since some people like to assume things just to blame me for defending myself.
For the backward people, this was in june when I wasn't wearing "provocative shorts and t-shirts" clothes. These are the "nice compliments" I got amongst others i don't even want to repeat here and/or I want to forget:
hey girl nice butt
does your friend wanna F with me too?
hey reply bitch
come here lesbos!
GONNA EAT YOUR ASS
Walked one block with that guy which was 1 meter away from us. He wasn't shouting from the other side of the street, he wasn't half a block away, he wasn't sitting in the sidewalk. He was right behind us.
He got warned to leave us alone during the whole 1-block fast-paced walk. I didn't stop to "discuss" because I'm not a 1.9 meters 120kg guy, so I'm not putting my friend and I at risk at 8:30pm in the street.
You read the "You're not alone" thread?
Well, most of the stuff that I shared about me is linked directly to an experience related to this, but I wasn't walking with a friend and there were two guys instead of one following me. You can guess what happened next since I wasn't able to defend myself.
But of course, street harassment is harmless and nothing else can go wrong, nor it can trigger unhappy memories from past experiences.
Think a bit before judging others so quickly assuming they overreact when they feel in danger.~
I know I probably won't convince anyone catcalling to stop by posting this (it doesn't hurt to try), but if your friends or co-workers do it, you can persuade or talk to them and see if they get it. There's nothing worse than being in a group of friends and allowing them to act like idiots.
It's disgusting and demeaning, stop it. You're hurting people with your actions and makes you look like a fool.
β€οΈοΈ FAQ, in case you're gonna post one of these comments I get all the time.
- But some women like to be catcalled!
Yes, there's also men that like to get hit in the face with a hammer. So using the same logic, I should go out and hit all men with a hammer in hopes they enjoy it?
- Don't be so sensitive, ignore it.
No, it reaches a point it can't be ignored. It's not an isolated issue once per month or in certain situations so you can avoid it. It also affects me a lot depending on my mood, so when you feel like crap and you get catcalled, things get worse.
- So you want others to come to your rescue when some stranger catcalls you? That will end up with me getting in a fight!
I'm not asking people to fight for me, just them to stop doing it, spread the word, and discourage people in their group of friends from being disrespectful.
- If you don't want to get catcalled, dress appropriately!
1: Don't blame the victim.
2: I dress as I please. It's my body, not someone else's.
3: It doesn't matter if it's winter and I'm wearing a jacket, or summer with shorts and a t-shirt. Some people will be idiots anyway and say things.
- I bet you like it when a handsome guy catcalls you!
Irrelevant. I expect respect from everyone.
- What about men? They also get harassed!
I'm very aware guys also get harassed by both men and women, but this thread is about girls. Feel free to create another thread for that issue, and I will support it.
- So this is just a misandrist rant!
It's not. If you feel targeted by anything I said, then it's not because you're a man, it's because you actions ressemble what it's said here.
- Meh, it could be worse.
It could be worse, but it SHOULD be better. Also, normalizing this behavior makes it even more painful for victims.
- Women also catcall!
I never said they don't, but for each woman that catcalls me, i get 500 guys. So the issue at hand is the one I shared.
- This thread offends me!
That tells a lot about you. Log off, take your time, and think about it.
- This thread is inappropriate for SG, please close and delete it!
Go tell that to all other threads about awareness, politics, religion, sports, disasters, etc.
