I wonder why the point system even exists, you can enter pretty much everything there is. Come back tomorrow and you'll be at 300 and be able to enter everything even marginally interesting that was posted in your absence.
I'm not at all convinced there is any difference between no points and a 300 point cap in terms of user giveaway entry behaviour.

Actually you get 10% of the point cost of any giveaway posted, meaning you can only enter 10% of all the entries.

5% actually! But much of the general public doesn't get to see private and group giveaways, meaning we accumulate a tad more points than we think.

yes it is very annoying, when someone gets max points you want to get rid of them so you enter more which results in people entering giveaways for games they wont play making it unfair on the people who actually want the game. i hit the point cap 2 twice today.

There's so many giveaways that people don't have to enter giveaways of games they don't want

steamgifts should offer the option of giving points. for example i'd create right now a giveaway to give 200 points of mine. that should be valued 200. this way you would solve your problems with too many points.

I've entered giveaways of games I'm only mildly interested in.

Oh how annoying is this! I mean 300P everyday!?..OMG do something! I don't want all this points! make them disappear!. (always something to talk-Q.Q about right....?)

Well, log in more frequently or just live with that. Can't see why is this annoying. You certainly can't have unlimited point cap (i know you didn't said anything like that) and I don't think that their going to change any time soon the point cap or the point generation. So, no I don't find this annoying to come back to you thread and the civil conversation.
-I'll have that in mind, but it's the first character that pops into my mind.We are kinda similar.

The math works out to what? 10% of giveaways that exist you can enter? Point wise? But then you figure in games you already own, or games you won't play, and you can almost always enter somewhere in the neighborhood of 200% of the giveaways that are relevant to you.
You will generate points over time... just the way it works unless you're someone who is entering for stuff they don't want for the sake of having more entries, or having more games on their list that they never touch.

i get like 150 points a day then i hit a wall and have to wait 30 mins just to get 5 points -.-

feels like foreever when your just sitting there pressing refresh hoping you have enough points to enter before it ends.

No, it's just you. You've been reported for hacking.

No, because I've been spending most of my points.

It's calmed down a bit. I was 'only' at 240 points this morning, instead of 300. From less than 10 points when I went to bed.
I don't really care though. The only giveaways I'm not entering are ones I'm either not allowed to, or are for games I definitely won't like.

Oh my, summer sale. Looking forward to the chaos, I guess. :-)

I managed a new personal best a couple weeks ago.

I even forget I have points. 'Cause I never use them all and really never look at it and watch it fill up again. I guess since I mostly enter to stuff I want or I find interesting. (Like enter to most number of soon ending Fortix giveaways xD)

I have been hitting it every day for the past 4 months. I don't enter many giveaways.

Same thing's happening to me, I come about once a day and enter everything I'm interested in, use up quite a bit of points. Tomorrow, I'm at the cap again. Actually, sometimes after I enter my entries, come to the forum and look around, I'm already up 20-50 points.
I don't know how common this is. If it's happening to almost everyone, it might be prudent to raise the cap a bit. Hopefully, the amount of giveaways remains this consistently high! But, if it does, I think the cap could be raised. You still don't want someone able to enter ALL the giveaways, but if there are a lot more giveaways overall, having a larger points bank is fair.

Or just sit at cap. Spending points for the sake of spending points is stupid. If you want a game, enter for it. If you don't, look at your 300 points and rest assured that if a wild contributor shows up and fills 3 pages with your wishlist that you aren't out of luck.

I said that I spend most of them. The point of the cap is that you can't come back after days and days of not using the site to having an impossible amount of points.
Was just making a point that if the giveaway count basically provides enough points to hit the cap in a day, or even less time, it might be time to raise the cap. It doesn't matter to me either way.

So, recently if I don't log into the site more than once a day I end up hitting the point cap...even when I spend all of my points. I didn't notice this until after the site came back up from the recent outage.
Anyone else find this annoying?
