Aside from being scammed, what is the worst attitude that a certain SG user has shown to you? (Please remember to not drop names)

Mine is being harassed for "blacklisting" a certain individual.

Anyways, here is the mandatory GA: DK2oY

I am pretty new here so I can't really talk much about. It didn't happen directly to me but the two worst things I've seen are:

  1. http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/ZMFKN/original-group-network-controversy-thread-updated-8315

  2. A quite new user created a thread because he got scammed and lost a Humble Bundle game key.
Another user suggested to tell Humble Bundle that the key wouldn't work (and ultimately become a scammer himself) because it would be okay to steal from companies. Now he is mad at people that blacklisted him due to this and complains about gifs.

  3. People who can't count.

Your first point gets a vote from me too. Some of the most disgusting attitudes have come from the leaders of those groups. It's debatable as to whether it counts given that ReadingLies said "aside from being scammed".

Oh christ I just reread through that thing. I really did sound like an asshole. Welp time to repent. But the thing "gif user" posted would still have gotten me flustered if it was on another thread. Nothing to do with myself.

I know what you mean, I guess.
You want that everyone decides themselves to decide something rather than someone dictating others to do so.
I know you don't mean the gif itself but I didn't want to go in details as this isn't the right place to discuss/dispute.

When somebody won one of my past giveaway...

  1. He h ave 6 or 7 not activated games.
  2. He was already 6 or 7 times suspended... Re-rolled failed.
  3. He laughed at me when I finally reach him on steam.
  4. I must have given him his new game...

No, you must not. You wont be suspended for not sent gift. Just receive one negative feedback.and go on.

That one earned the spot
This attitude should have been severely punishable, to think he gets a smaller suspension than someone who didnt activate one game is laughable

I know who the first guy is, i actually reported him at some point

but i was talking about the dude who decided to drop insults because he was asked to remove his entries, out of the account of the event being leaked.
and what did he get, 4/5 day suspension

Had to ask one user politely around 3 times to mark gift as received. He did it after ignoring me for 7 days. Not even simple 'thanks'

haven't had anyone be truly rude directly at me.... but i do think its unpolite when someone wins a game and they never say thanks.. and that does happen sometimes unfortunately.

they could send you a PM to say thanks,
or they could post a ty comment on my profile page,
or at least post a thanks on the giveaways SG page,

any of these methods would be ok, but some people just take a game they won and never say anything. oh well.

The worst that has happened to me on SG so far, is people
saying "thank you", when I explicitly told them not to.
Guess it must be really hard to read a description
when you're a bot. Damn, I really hate people who use
bots on a website where folks give away free games, out of
the kindness of their hearts. That's so ...well, I don't even
have words for that, I hope they all die lonely and miserable.
No exaggeration.

Increasing the Level of your public giveways will help alleviate some of this problem. Switching to invite-only would reduce it further...

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I mostly do group and whitelist giveaways these days, but occasionally I want new people to have a chance, too.
That's when I create a public giveaway, usually with some task for a chance to get on my whitelist - and on my blacklist, for those who obviously can't read the description. I have about just as many really high level folks (level 4+) on that blacklist a I have with level 0. Also, I'm not a huge fan of level restrictions, because I don't really care how much someone's given in return as long as they enjoy what they get.

just saying - level 4 is not "really high level" ;) all you need for lvl 4 is 100$ CV - so actual 10-20$ spent IRL on steam sales ;)

I said level 4+ ... some of them were level 6 or maybe even higher. Point is ... just because they've got an impressive history of giveaways doesn't stop them from using scripts/bots and/or not reading the description.

It's weird to get blacklisted for showing your appreciation, people like you stopped me from commenting on giveaways.

It's failure to read a few lines of description that got them blacklisted and not showing their appreciation. My point is, I explicitely asked them to refrain from posting generic "thank you" comments. I've never blacklisted anyone, who wrote more than just a generic "thanks for the chance", "ty" or the like and I also made it very clear, that it's perfectly fine to just stay silent and not comment at all. I really don't think it's too much to ask for, to read a description when applying for free stuff. Feel free to disagree, but, in my opinion, those comments, have nothing to do with appreciation, they're just showing blatant disrespect, that's all.

I almost forgot one specific incident. This was my GA description:

Do not write "thanks" or any other similar generic things. This game is apparently terrible, so "thanks" is not even appropriate. Instead, post a picture of a capybara

And a person responded with this in my GA:

THANKS!!! people like you go on my blacklist. people should be allowed to say thank you lol.... retarded people these days xD ...

One time I ran a few giveaways and dropped some keys on the forums. Someone who missed out on the keys added me and asked if I had any more. It's not the nastiest thing that's happened to me, but the most annoying, because people being jerks is just par for the internet, people begging when it's against the rules is obnoxious.

Been lucky so far, everyone activated my giveaways without any issues. I suppose it was a bit awkward at first, because when I first started visiting the site, the giveaways didn't have a simple "post key" option, I had to add people on Steam and tell them they won and all that and give them the key and then figuring out how much time should pass until it's polite enough to delete the person from the list.

I once had a winner who tried to regift the game as soon as the giveaway ended. After I left a comment on his giveaway he deleted it and marked it as received without activating the game. I tried to add him on Steam, but he ignored my friend request. So I filed a user report and he got suspended, but when he came back he marked it not received. So I had to go through support again to get my feedback. The game is now on his account and I have a user report on him for something else. Hope he gets a permaban.

Just to make sure. I don't really get the meaning of "calling out".
Is posting a permalink on a post in the Steamgifts forum considered "calling out"?

if you link to something that directly indicates rulebreaking it may be considered so. So safest just describe situation without mentioning any names, or post a screenshot with edited/blurred names and avatars :>

I remember at least several examples when instead of "calling out" OP on forums ppl would just post links to some of his shady/rulebreaking forum topics from the past and were told not to as it is calling out.

Good thread.

It was the guy who suggested other one to scam the Humble Bundle (say that key doesn't work) only because he got scammed for that key, and the very best argument was that "stealing from a big company doesn't make them any harm".

Instantly blacklisted without even thinking further.

There are a lot of people I've disliked. Game beggars, group beggars, referral posters, regifters, etc. Hundreds of blacklist members. :D

I've even been a dick at times. :P

I've only had good experiences here. No trouble with winners, gifters, puzzlers, or puzzlees (that is totally a word). The worst thing I've had happen is getting blacklisted by someone and not knowing why. Only finding out when going to enter a GA by them. Then I blacklist back and feel shitty... >.>

Lost the key to a giveaway and the game was removed from market and the offered the winner other games. He declined and i have now red marks on my profile.

Permalink

He was supposed to decline. He could get in trouble later on for taking a different game and not having the correct thing on his account. It would probably be best in a situation like this to contact support to request the GA be deleted.

you could offer the user another game and in exchange he should agree to delete the giveaway (both the winner and creator must agree and send a support ticket).
i suppose he declined because of what ajiam mentioned.
