Nope. I have High Functioning Autism that gives me certain behavioral quirks that would drive any one away in no time.

Would you mind if I asked for an example of the quirks? I'm sorry if it's too personal.

I don't mind talking about it. My behavior can be fairly childish. I basically have two modes of behavior, my normal at home and my socially acceptable one. I'm an incessant talker when I'm comfortable with someone, hence I have dubbed myself Irritation Man. The amount of friends I have lost because of my behavior is fairly substantial.

So you have extroverted social behaviors, but its tied to an ON/OFF switch? I could see how that would be troublesome.

In a nutshell, yes. If I could be neurotypical it would be great.

I'm pretty sure we're all like this :D

It's just the talking that's the problem? Oh you should have been born a girl, that's expected behavior among my friends and me. With us it's- if you're not talking it means something is seriously wrong.

Maybe I am a girl, the mystery of internet anonymity. My normal behavior can some times be likened to that of a 5 year old.

I'm like that too. I call it my "brain on vacation" time :D
I just start talking about silly stuff, looking at shiny objects, playing with random stuff (I get super excited over pretty pencils and similar childish stuff), whining about stuff that makes no sense and reverting back to "I don't care what my real age is, I can be 5 if I want to" with all that includes.
I can only imagine how annoying it gets but we all have our issues and it wouldn't be fair of others to expect from me to tolerate their quirks and for them not to tolerate mine, especially as only people I'm really close to get to see that side.
...And guys from TeamSpeak. xD
They call it my "spoiled princess" time xD

I like to think it makes me even more adorable and, luckily, most of the time my people agree xD

Think of that type of behavior manifesting more frequently. I have actually made an ass of myself when I didn't know others who aren't part of my immediate family were around. (BTW I am a stereotypical bespectacled, gaming obsessed male)

Oh I too am not talking in "once a week" terms, with me it's generally a couple of times a week.
And the embarrassing situations were plentiful before, but now I no longer care about that crap so I don't get embarrassed. You wouldn't believe the childish crap I've pulled off with a friend of mine in front of my university building, xD
For example, the two of us were actually dragging a third friend in opposite directions and the third friend finally sat on the floor and it ended with three of us laughing like crazy and sitting on the floor.
Yeah, people were looking at us and talking but we didn't care the least because all that matters is that we felt great and all those barely 18 yo kids who take themselves too seriously could kiss our asses. I'm 28 and have lived alone since I was 16 so I've had to be serious and grown up for long enough and have had plenty of time to learn that you only have one of yourself and you gotta love it :)
It helps if you have friends who don't mind being just as quirky like you <3

I am very sorry if it seemed like that at any point, I was just trying to be supportive.
I am a pedagogyst and, among other things, it's my job to work with children/people with special needs and developmental issues so trust me when I say I'd never even think of minimizing anyone's needs or conditions.
The thing I've noticed is that "average" people too often try to pretend to be "too perfectly normal" thereby further distancing themselves from anyone who, regardless of the reason, might have problems mimicking "acceptable" social behavior, which ends up with people with different needs feeling even more isolated.
Why do that? Why not show those who are able to function (at least to a degree) in everyday social interactions that we're all a bit "different" and that, like with anyone else, there are people who accept us and those who don't.

Again, I'm very sorry if I came off as insensitive, that was by no means my intention. Thank you for telling me what you thought about my comments, I'll make sure to try to make my thoughts better phrased from now on :)

yes, but soon i have to leave country with my family because of parents' new jobs (im 16). i know i cant call her "significant other" at this young age but i love her so much and i often cry before sleeping knowing that i have to part ways with her at least for a few years. my goal in life is to find a way to get back to her and live with her for the rest of my life because we love each other. i'd really need some support ;-;

My life is a lie.

There even may be a husband I've never known about hiding in my wardrobe. Or fridge.

... So that's who's been eating the ice cream during movie marathon night. I shouldn't have trusted my best friend when she admitted that she was the culprit.

Happier, perhaps. But there is a slight difference between being happy and being happier. In the current case, I was referring to happiness.

I have no doubt that love can bring more happiness, but I still believe that without it, life can be quite nice.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sorry, I made a mistake, I meant happiest, I sometimes confuse the two as I'm not a native English speaker.

i believe in love being the key to the greatest happiness, there are other things take makes us happy but not nearly as love.

But hey, that's just me, everyone is different.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I've come to realizing that happiness is hardly reachable without sharing in wide sense of it. In other words: you just don't pay attention to who you already have near (family, friends, Internet). If you don't have anyone to tell about you success/adventure/anything for once it may be ok. But on the regular note it becomes terrible. Go live alone in the forest without any services of communication and you'll see how hard will it be even to stay sane. I'm running to extremes but I think you got the idea.
P.S. It's about the below part in general sense

who said we needed someone to achieve happiness
