The Best Indie Game You Have Ever Played.

Minecraft.

It's between Journey and The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom. Unfortunately even as a big proponent of indie games I wait on sales for a lot of indie games.

I'm saying Antichamber, Limbo and The Swapper. Maybe there are others but those three really hit me with their visual design. Oh and Hotline Miami was quite fun also :D

Torchlight 2

Right now Spelunky and Super Meat Boy. I still have a ton of indies that I'm yet to play, and I know I'll love them. :)

To The Moon

A toss-up between Defense Grid (the best of the tower defense genre) and Zigfrak (like the Eve Online single-player missions).

I really enjoyed Vessel, it's a great game with a pretty good story!

Chivalry

Super Meat Boy by a longshot. Spelunky is a distant second place.

The Binding of Isaac is fantastic and offers a ton of bang for your buck, I'd rate that as the best. I also really really enjoyed To The Moon, which while short (4hrs) man oh man I've never seen a game with such non realistic graphics offer such a realistic and feels-filled story. If you love games with great stories, I definitely recommend that one.

Bastion, then FTL.

Mount and Blade: Warband. I am anxious to hear more about the sequel.

Terraria, I've put a lot of hours into it. Looking forward to the next update, which will hopefully tide me over until Starbound is out.

One title I haven't noticed mentioned: Aquaria. It's an underwater metroidvania with beautiful artwork and music and voice acting. It can be a bit hard to get into and traveling can be a chore at times, but if you really like exploring a game looking for secrets then you'll probably enjoy this. PROTIP: You can use the number keys to transform rather than having to sing everytime.
