Congratulations :) marriage is a beautiful occasion. Did you have wedding or only registered marriage without wedding as such ? I've photographed several weddings up to now and enjoyed every one even though its more of a work for me. Cant wait when someone else I know will marry :D
Well wishes and happy marriage to you :)

Um, well, it's only a registration of marriage without the actual wedding ceremony. The ceremony was planned for later this year but it's obvious to the both of us that it's not going to happen now so we're looking to postpone it until around the end of next year. Hopefully things would be much better by then and massive gatherings would be allowed :)
Funny thing though, we were actually looking for a freelance wedding photographer earlier this year, hadn't had any luck, and ended up signing a wedding package with a photo studio... and that was just a day before the sudden lockdown was announced. We've got awful "great" timing, my hubby and I :P
Thanks! :)

Yeah, this time has been intrusive in all our lives. Well, at least you got to register :) Celebration can wait a bit as well, but I wish you success with planning it :)
Hopefully you get a skilled photographer, awfully messy and responsible job shooting a wedding. Many things can go wrong from technical point of view. I try to do it more or less as a favor to someone if they ask as its not my favorite shooting subject, but after I've experienced the process I can definitely say I understand why wedding photographers are expensive. I dont think I'd actually would want to professionally do it.

Yeah, that's the positive lining for sure :) Can't say I'm looking forward to planning (almost) everything again though. Cancelling all our bookings had been a nightmare.
After looking around for suitable hobbyist photographers for months, we reckoned as much as well - but it's still good to hear from someone who has actually been through it :) - and decided the 3x cost for a package was probably worth it. The studio has a good reputation so hopefully everything would turn out alright.

Congratulations.
My advice (and TODAY is my 24th anniversary), is to figure out money right from the start. In a lot of couples, one person ends up earning a lot more than the other, and unless you figure out how you are going to handle that, it can lead to resentment. In our case, we pay both of our incomes into a joint account, which is used to pay bills (utilities, rent/morgage, children's allowance, insurance, etc.). That joint account then pays each of us the same amount of money as a living allowance each month for anything we want to buy for ourselves. So I never have to ask my wife if I want to buy a computer game, or a trashy novel, it comes out of my money. Similarly her (different) trashy novels come out of her money. Most couples I know who have gotten into trouble have gotten into trouble over money.

Hey, congrats on your 24th anniversary! :D
You're absolutely right. Now that I've thought about it - we hadn't really discussed, at least in-depth, about financials. We really need to get to it. Maybe we could adopt the system you use :) Thanks!

It's a good cheesy 80s music video, though the end feels kind of dark. Cursed mall?

Congratulations! It's not so much about marriage as it is about a long-term relationship and everything that comes with that. I've been with the same woman for... let's just say a very long time, so I do have some advice:
As for music, I've never really liked love songs, but this one is about getting married, so maybe appropriate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2dR2DV-eGc

Congrats Aethyna! There's some great advice in this thread already, so I will just say -- keep an open mind and an open heart.
As for the song choice, I think this is perfect. One of my favorite songs of all time. Ruelle -- I Get To Love You

Long story short - my boyfriend of 7 years and I were supposed to tie the knot back in April but then a lockdown was imposed in the mid of March which was then extended until June. However, thankfully, the government offices have finally reopened and they have started to process marriage registrations. We managed to snag the earliest date possible and well.... we're now officially married!
Thought I'd share the good news here since I've made some great friends on SG 😊
And of course, organize a small celebratory train to mark the occasion and share some love around!
🚄🚃Main Carriages🚃-🚃TMCG🚃-🚃Pandora🚃-🚃CBNA🚃-🚃PA🚃-🚃PAGYWOSG🚃-🚃SG Pillars🚃-🚃Gamer's Cabin🚃-🚃Positive Thoughts🚃-🚃Weird-Based Gamer🚃-🚃Elite One GAs🚃-(Not group)🚃SG Karaoke🚃 Giveaway link is hidden there (not really; it's super easy to find) ;)
(Deadline to board: May 31st; Anti-bot Protection; Level 1+; Some love songs)
I'll see if I can add more carriages to the train but this is it for now.
For those of you who are married, any advice for us newly-weds?
Do you all know of any love songs that are sung by the bride/wife to the groom/husband, and not the other way around? I can't seem to find any.
