That's the "trick", for both ME2, and the Dragon Age games, You can only get the DLCs from the Bioware website.

Yes, you can download all the DLC for free but Origin/EA won't see the DLC activated on your account so you won't be able to officially play it.

Unless... Ah, not going to go there.
Anyways, just an FYI, some bigger DLCs like Zaeed and uh, I can't remember which one, but those are free on the Origin version. If you rigidly insist on having the Steam version, I think the Origin version will see your Steam install as well, and it'll install the DLCs for you, so you only have to run it once to get that stuff there.
Same for the first game, both DLCs are free, but you have to get them from Origin. The above trick didn't work for the first game for me though.

I already activated it on Origin, however it was a single key to activate the whole bundle so it won't activate on Steam :(
I think that they only give away Zaeed and Cerberus Network DLCs, Cerberus networks gives you an armor, couple of heavy weapons and Normandy crash site and that's it... about ME1 I think EA gives away Pinnacle Station for free on Origin and Bring Down the Sky for free on Steam, but not both on the same client, so yeah, douche move by EA as always.
edit: apparently on Origin you may get both DLCs as you mentioned, well... it's something

I hear Shadow Broker is the best DLC of ME2, it's even story-centric too... it's content directly stripped down from the main story by EA. Zaeed was totally meh, haven't read or played Kasumi and Overlord DLCs.

It came out a full 8 months after ME2 did. I'd hardly call that "stripped down from the main story by EA."
More like "wasn't even close to completed in time for launch."

that it came out doesn't mean it was planned to be a key part of the story, Liara even appears as the Shadow Broker in ME3, a DLC story expansion should be more like a spinoff (like Bioshock Infinite) instead of just taking away a canonical part of the story in my opinion, that's why I call it stripped down. Even citadel I see like a true DLC expansion

It didn't take away a part of the story, they didn't have time to put it in the main game before launch, so it was backburnered until the game was out, and then they could fully focus on it. There's nothing wrong with having a story DLC that expands the lore. Consider it a mini expansion pack, because that's exactly what it is.

Even if you see it that way, paying $10 for a 5 year old mini expansion of 1 main story isn't fair at all. Specially if you see it like its price is 1/6 of a full new game or 1/2 of the full game price nowadays.
That's not fair for us but EA laughs at us all the way to the bank, why? Because that content should be either free after 5 years for everyone that spent their money on their game or at least should have a considerable discount (hell, ME2 sells for $5 on sale right now and this single mission is $10).

This is usually solved by buying a GOTY edition. Unfortunately, Bioware hasn't made a GOTY edition for ME2 yet. You can scoop up the DLCs on Origin for 75% off from time to time, though.

Really? I searched online for any kind of deals on these DLCs and I read that Bioware nor Origin made any discounts for them... that bummed me a lot, well it's something I guess, although it would be nice to get a season pass for Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Dead Space and other EA franchises that only sell single DLCs.

Lair of the Shadow Broker is one of the best DLC period. The only other DLC that can compete with it in my book is Dead Money for Fallout: New Vegas.
Also, Kasumi is a really fun character and probably the best squad mate unless you play on Insanity. Her instakill invincibility move is overpowered, but sometimes really needed. Plus her mission is the only one where you have to do something else than shooting from start to finish.

Really? Nice to know that! It's sad that she's behind a paywall with no discount since launch 5 years ago... if publishers want to absolutely get more $ from consumers then DLC should be focused on cosmetics packs, maybe a couple of expansions like Witcher 3 will do for +30h of extra quests, it would hinder less the gamer's experience, specially with no season pass and no discounts.

You do want to know about the Arrival before starting ME3 though. Kinda meh to play, but it's the missing link between the main stories of the 2 games

Mass Effect is my favorite RPG franchise, it might not be perfect and its ultimate ending might not be as deep as expected, but I love the sci fi setting, the great dialog and great combat options in all of them. However EA are the kings of DLC, and not in a good way... they strip down story missions so you can buy them as DLC and they don't make season passes or sales for them after several years of release, so that's ultra douchey.
I bought the whole trilogy on X360 and bought the Humble Origin Bundle 2 (it's a shame I didn't buy the first one though) not only because of the nice games but because the standard split is that 85% of income goes to charities and 15% to Humble Bundle, that's pretty decent, they games they gave away for Tier 2 of the second week are super old and Origin only though, but it's still a nice deal.
If you want the whole Mass Effect experience but you can't or don't want to pay 4 figures to EA I recommend you to buy this bundle and then look for alternative waters, at least you would have payed for the license of ME2. And who knows, a lot of people sail on dark waters and when they make more money they buy the games/DLC they played in the past.

You're welcome! Just don't get your hopes up for tomorrow's bundle, normally after a big publisher sale they come a couple of niche bundles

so to clarify
any DLC from EA games can only get it from origin/bioware?
like Mass effect, dead space and dragon age < i only want these 3 games, complete with all DLC. if possible buying from steam
note, i want to get dragon age origin ultimate, unfortunately it's not in my region (SEA), maybe there's more (restricted item), i dont know

For Dead Space, if you want all DLC, you will actually want it on PS3, since the second game has console exclusive content.
Some minor content is locked off to people that played a download only minigame based prequel for Dead Space 2. Dead Space 2 also had a DLC that continued the story of the Wii / PS3 exclusive lightgun game.

oh i know that one, too bad i dont own a PS3
it's sad that PC doesnt have it too
i hope they make PC version someday, just like RE5 Gold recently
i think it's better to watch someone play at youtube, rather than stressing about it (console exclusive content)

Well, I very much doubt they will come to PC, the minigame prequel was ****, and honestly, the light gun game is better on Wii than it could ever be on PC.

DLC's for DS 1 and 2 suck though. Only weapons, armor and shit. No missions, no story etc.
Comment has been collapsed.
PC content, yes. The console exclusive ones include story content.

I only bought the 'good' DLCs because I honestly didn't have anything else to buy. The DLCs aren't 'bad' persay but they ARE examples of short and expensive DLCs. Overlord, Kasumi, and Shadow Broker were pretty good though.
This is, unfortunately, just how DLCs are.
EDIT: Arrival was always pure storyline, stupid Indoctrination theory or not it was a great experience.

This bundle aside. the best value in ME2 is buying the digital deluxe edition when it's on sale. It comes with about 1/3 or so of the dlc.

Thanks in advance
