Well there are two slightly different engines running the Singleplayer and multiplayer sections. So you can't run two different engines in the same game :P I think they also wanted people to track game time and achievements more easily.
Of course, like previous Call of Duties on Steam, I'm fairly certain you can access all three different game modes through any of the menus. For example you start up Zombies, you can easily switch over to Singleplayer from in game etc.

So the game is separated into 3 If I only download the MP and Zombies (Because they're small, 4/5gigs) will it run? Or it still needs the data from the SP to run? I've prepared for hate comments.
