There was another shooting a few minutes ago, as of this posting, at the YouTube HQ.

So far, there is reports of casualties but I am not sure how many yet.

This is getting WAY out of hand.

United States quite frankly has so many shootings per week that none of the news elicit anything but a shrug nowadays. Hooray for desensitization.

Assuming how many people in US have guns and how many "shooters" thay have per year - it's almost nothing.
Another way, it can be someones plan to bring US in military controlled restricts.

Dunno. Around here, if your jealous crazy ex-girlfriend goes to your workplace, she just tends to scream a lot until security throws her out. Maybe throw your stuff. A little east of here, she may ramp it up to ramming your car. Getting a gun and shooting up the place… yep, Murica. Fuck yeah.

Or she could simply buy some sulfuric acid at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/sulfuric-acid/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Asulfuric%20acid
then proceed to enter the building and spread it all over her boyfriend and other employees.

If someone wants to kill or permanently damage someone, they will find the way, with or without weapons.
Restricting weapons functions only as to reduce the amount of damage they can do in a short period of time.
Violence, will not be magically reduced just by that, there need to be changes in education, reducing poverty and promote a strong social cohesion and proper mental health care, etc.

shrug It is not about the kill or not kill. Getting guns around here is not easy, but also not impossible. Domestic murder is not uncommon, but it is usually done with knives or similar household sharp items. It is the mentality that is disturbing, that firearms are just treated as such a casually integral part of life there, like if Murica is some African country in a 50-year civil war to warrant putting the AK-47 in the flag as it is the most common household object.

I agree with you, but many people think that restricting weapons will reduce the violence, thinking that will cure all the mentally unstable people and passion driven crimes. The social tissue of the US and other violent countries need much much much deeper changes to improve its situation.

Let's assume there's no gun in circulation, therefore she went and bought that acid.

Which one is easier to defend yourself against when you engage her one on one? Against her gun or acid better?

I can't speak for anyone, but I'm much better off fighting against her acid than her gun.

Eh... I'd rather defend against the gun, honestly.

In close range there is a significant chance I could force the aim of the gun away from me (I have had martial arts training, and I am stronger than most women). If she had the gun drawn at a longer range, depending on the exact scenario, I might have a chance to find some cover (forcing a close range encounter) or flee the scene entirely. An inexperienced and/or highly emotional shooter is not going to have the best aim.

On the other hand, if she walked in with some sulfuric acid, there's a very good chance I won't know what is going on until she is in close range. At which point, I would have to react before she threw the acid (somewhat unlikely, because who is going to be suspicious of someone carrying a cup of some sort?), and I would also have to wrestle the acid away from her without splashing it on myself. That seems incredibly tricky and prone to error.

No such word as payed - it's paid. Reasonal is also not a word so the best thing you can do is learn to spell correctly and when you do reply back :)

verbNAUTICAL
past tense: payed; past participle: payed
seal (the deck or seams of a wooden ship) with pitch or tar to prevent leakage.
"an open groove between the planks had to be payed by running in hot pitch from a special ladle"

You weren't using the word in a nautical connection but as one that had some financial transaction of value :)

There is not just one singular problem, it's a combination of factors that cause all these shootings.
It's all about thresholds really. When you make a threshold low enough anything can happen, no matter how illegal you make it to cross that threshold.
Easy access to guns, easy access to symptom suppressing medications, high cost of real medical/mental help, slave wages, rich lobbies with too much power, corruption.
Keep em dumb, keep em angry, keep em from noticing the strings.

What exactly? Don't forget, The US of A has a population of 325M, while a country like Germany has 82M, France 67M, Russia 144M.

Not that I am particularly in favour of guns, but if you're going to look at how often stuff happens in the USA, you have to keep in mind, it's a rather big country as well.

Now if you assume this wikipedia page is truthful, the USA is nr 12 in firearms related deaths. but surprisingly, a lot of that is actually suicides (a lot more than the other countries with high rates). If you look at purely homicides, they're actually placed 18th. The amount of suicides in the US with guns is about double the amount of homicides with guns, where most other countries in the top have a massive homicides to suicide ratio with regards to guns.

Still, there's a lot of room for improvement, but it's not like the US of A is by any means close to the worst country on earth, in regards to deaths related to firearms.

USA is a union of states compare it with UE not Germany !

That is kinda my point, it's a rather large country population (and surface) wise. How independent the states are, is not really relevant in this regard.

Then take China bigger and with 5 time the population and you don't see this crap but when you have more guns then people then you have a problem :)) !

I think you're missing my point completely (since we seem to agree). People are quick to say "but I don't hear this often about shootings in my country so USA is baaaaaad". To which I try to point out, it's uncomparable, since most of those European countries simply aren't as big. And yes, EU (I assume you meant EU) as a whole is more comparable in that regard.

So no, I'm not taking China as an example, since hardly anybody is giving that country as an example, so countering that makes no sense.

Yes it is UE in my language and Eu in English :D !
USA is not bad per say, but this need to have more gun that needed it is. I think the people are kind of mysled, even if they have guns they will be shot, guns are not the answer, but the knowledge and more restriction should be put on drugs and I mean legal drugs and guns !

You see the people are the course and I don't mean the people that kill because those are mentali unstable but the people that lead the country per say !

First I gave as example the EU you know the place that invented democracy and next China a country that is way bigger and has 5 times the population and if 6 times as old !

Really now, USA citizens believing they are the #1 FFS in anything, sorry to say this but the Chinese gave to humanity more then USA until now ... !

You should thank them they invented the main component of the guns :)) !

China gave us junk. Cheers.

London has way higher murder rate than NY this year. And London has "Ban guns" law... magic, right?

And before the "crisis" in Europe, we had no ghettos like them. And major part of the murders and drug sells happened there. Plus...
I'll just say Sweden and end the whole conversation there.

"What exactly? Don't forget, The US of A has a population of 325M"
But hey Sweden has more then 325M now and is bigger ... FFS 12 years old he said more like 5 this one is :)) !

I dont think you understand what numbers mean...

You dont need 325m population in sweden to be worse than the states. They can be worse just for having a bigger % per CURRENT POPULATION in crime, which Sweden beats pretty much everyone...
