It helps with writing, art, (research), bill paying, shopping....
I always have good intentions to do something productive, but I get distracted easily. :) Let's not forget YouTubeInternetisforporn

Of course. I do my banking online, file my taxes, research various stuff before buying, find solutions to problems I'm having or how-to for thing I need to do. Plus, being a software developer, the Internet is an invaluable resource when you get stumped on a problem because someone else is bound to have experienced the same issue before you and it's usually more effective to do a quick Google search and look at other people's solutions to the problem instead of banging your head on the desk trying to figure out your way out of some messy piece of code.

I post reviews on the interwebz, but since I dont get any money for it, it doesnt count as productive
Sometimes I translate stuff for webpages, blogs and that kind of things for games. Im also learning how write better reviews and stories and Im learning how to draw better
But again, as I dont get any physical or digital money for any of this things, its not anything productive.
So the answer is NO, I dont do productive stuff in the internet

Lots of stuff for work
Classes whenever I can afford them and general research when I can't.
E-mail saves me a crap load on stamps ... for all you kids there was once a time when people used writing instruments on paper and sent said paper to people via a service called post. It's like a non-digital version of e-mail.
Now let me tell you brats about this thing called "Carbon Paper" LOL
Banking, shopping and looking up things that I once used to look up in books ... like recipes.

In terms of actual "work," I have various classes, scheduling, figuring out stuff, emails, that's productive.
Research is productive.
Questionably productive is talking to various people or just reading up on things, other people's stories, advice from people on various forums, news, etc.
And there's unproductive stuff like this place, or porn, or getting into arguments with random strangers on the internet about stupid shit, or vidyagaems.
