After trading with tons of people I got scammed for the first time of a Mad Max key. A guy with 80 steam level and 390 games. And so many good comments on steam profile. How could I be so naive after trading so many times that I went first without asking the guys steamgifts rep link.

Dont trust anyone to give you their steamgifts page to check their rep (for future reference).

Get enhanced steam and check manually.

You probably know already, but calling out is against the rules. It isn't exactly a good idea to suggest doing it even as a joke, some new users could think this is okay to do. :P

Got this from a quick search. However I have never done this either. Perhaps someone else has more info?

You can give details on the scam by telling the short story and posting screenshots, however, there are cases where they won't accept your report. It's all in there if you want to know.

Also, bear in mind that Steamrep.com is a community website and that in no way do they have the power to get your stuff back.

I mean that guy owned fallout 4, just cause 3, black ops 3. It just didn't seem like he was a scammer.

Perhaps he got them all by scamming

there's a famous lv100 scammer around, so steam lv means nothing.
just try to stick to high trade rep, specially here.

once i reach lv100 i will do the same! :3

when you trade so much, you become more trusting. There are a lot of times I was trading with people with a lot of rep and they go first right away, I always tell my self" I could scam him/her right now". but I never do, I only have 8 rep mind you.
Don't trust people with low rep, I know its a lot of work making sure people are legit, but be more safe.

When I trade, I have to do 5-6 things to make sure they are legit

  1. check steam level
  2. check steam profile rep
  3. check steamgift rep
  4. check their inventory if they have the game (skip this if its a key)
  5. check the people who gave them a rep.
  6. If still unsure, then try to persuade them to go first (rarely works, but sometimes it does when people are trusting and no patients)

Damn I have gone first many times for big games with guy of much lesser reps but never had any problem. This has opened my eyes. Will never ever go first without asking steamgifts profile link.

Don't ask for anything. They can give you someone else's SG profile link. Install Enhanced Steam, and check their real reputation yourself. Enhanced Steam is a browser addon, with which you can see a person's steamrep account and SteamGifts account. It also shows backpack.tf and such, but you'll only need to see his steamrep, and steamgifts account. Steam profile + or - rep worth nothing. You can easily join a group, where every member will give a +rep to your Steam profile, also you can delete negative rep comments too.

They can, but it's just so easy to check, if you're legit, don't ever go first, it's just so easy - either don't go first, or don't trade.

Read in one of his negative reps that he got BO3 by scamming another guy. And today only he again scammed a different person. This guy is on a rampage. Won't stop because he knows that steamreps don't accept key related scams. Which he himself says that read the rules steamrep only deals with steam items and not keys.

Even the chat is lost. I was using my mobile for the trade. And I forgot to take a screenshot. I have screwed up big time.

I think Steam support can do something about this, but I am unsure about this myself.

never trust anyone with less trader rep then you, and NEVER trade with someone who refuses to show you their steamgifts profile.. Although you can easily look up that information

Especially in the case of higher priced items.. sucks and better luck in the future..

This guy has 8 reports against him on steamrep. Why isn't he banned on steam?? Also why name calling gets you a ban?? If nothing is done against him, he will keep on doing this thing. Atleast telling other people his name will warn them not to trade with him.

the no call out rule is here to avoid abuse, or else some people will fake reports and screenshots.
it will also go bad when someone reports an impersonator and points fingers at the impersonated user.
