First off, I do not have the time to get drawn into a lengthy debate, especially with everything that's on my plate right now, so don't expect me to participate much in a discussion, but by all means do so amongst yourselves and feel free to express your opinion and point of view.

That said, I do not understand why certain folks on here are so hung up on the concept of ratios and blacklisting others for this reason and no other (we are not talking about breaking rules mind you). I mean why do you think people were attracted here in the first place? "Oh cool, a site where you can go and have a chance to win free games? Sign me up!" Right? Is that not the general thinking of the masses upon discovering it? Why did they flock here in the first place if not to win games? So why should they be hastily begrudged for that?? Look, I get it. Nobody likes a total leecher that never (or almost never) gives back. But also consider this: That people give back when they can and what they can within their means, and not how or when you may think they should as if you somehow knew the details of their life and could fairly judge them.

Listen, I'm not trying to tell anyone what they can or can't do with their own blacklist. I believe that they have the right to do with it as they please. But I also believe in someone's right to be of the opinion that the sort of rationale presented here is both petty and short-sighted and that there are some people on here that are ridiculously self-righteous, full of themselves as if their shit smells like roses and doesn't stink., and need to hop off their high freaking horse and pull that stick out from their all-too-tight anal sphincter that is clearly bothering them.

So that's it in a nutshell. Agree or disagree, it's entirely up to you. All that I ask is that if you are someone who blacklists others based on what to me seems like this draconian concept of ratios, that you kindly do not enter any giveaways that I may post and treat them with the same kind of respect that you no doubt would want and expect for your own and your wishes for them.

So without further ado, some giveaways of games from the Indie Gala Majesco bundle:

I particularly like the second last one. I wish I could be that efficient trying to "trade" bundled stuff that I'd like to try out but don't feel is worth the full bundle or single price :P

Okay so not to defend those people or whatever, but it is also easy to have a great ratio and judge when you have games being handed to you left and right on a golden platter by developers and publishers. And that's inherently different from when it's coming out of your own pocket.

It's not that hard to do while using simple excel formulas:

(not counting large group GAs, unless they were made along with public, promotional GAs where it's stated they're from devs.)

2100 GAs and 1600 CV ftom developer GAs.

I've never blacklisted anyone over a ratio. That seems pretty silly to me. I prefer to make all my GAs either group ones, whitelist ones or set them to Level 1 or 2, the reason being that, with the price of bundles, I think everyone can afford to donate even one bundled game to the community if they're expecting to get games off others in return. I know for new users it's pretty crappy, but it's so easy to get to Level 1.

I don't blacklist for bad ratios. These people just want to win. I do sometimes blacklist people who give the same game over and over and over again *cough* *cough* Lego Batman 3 premium/Lego Batman Trilogy *cough* 18 times to boost their level for leeching

If some one is level 6 or 7 from giving away only one game, that is why they are doing it. They aren't trying to give games to the site. They are using the fastest exploit to get to the top. There are plenty of other games in that price range that people would also enjoy but they don't give them their precious CV. I don't blacklist every time I see people giving multiples. I only do when it is extreme cases

I agree absolutely. People give when and if they want to. You can't really force them. If they want to win and not give then let them be. I personally don't BL anyone and haven't yet. Don't think I will need to. Sure people can all try to give stuff away. But remember, you can't give something away if you don't already have it. Some people on high level because they like to give and that is great of them. I applaud them and thanks them all for giving me a chance to win. But yea, I absolutely agree with you. If they want to, just make the level requirement higher to not allow the people with lower gifting ratio out of their giveaway.

In my early days I did focus on weeding out the really bad ratio's through blacklist and SGTools requirements.

Since and including my 726 cars train I made about a 1000 SGTools giveaways with the standard and most used requirements (all activated, no multiples and no bans) to weed out the major SG rule breakers but with no ratio requirements.

I have cleaned my blacklist and 41 users are mutually blacklisted and there are at least two of those with ratio's in the vicinity of 100/1 and 200/5 on my blacklist but they are on it because they were SGTools gate crashers/invalid entries.

Knowing that there are about 780K level 0 users on SG, official SG numbers from 30/05/2016 it's fair to say that a SG user with for example 50 games won and 20 games gifted has with those 20 games contributed more than about 80% of the total SG user base.

I don't know what is blacklist. My English is weak. I'm confused when I try to translate it.
I think this idea about blacklist is not bad but not good in same time.
it's OK you don't know anyone. I'm the one who giveaway out of this web.(on facebook or anyway)
that's make me feel bad about number 0 of giveaway when I won a game.
give it on facebook is easy than this. I make a wrong giveaway before.

The reason people care about ratios is because Steam Gifts, although it started as a charitable giving site, hasn't been one for a long while, and many users hate the idea of charitable giving. These users are using SG as 'random trading site', and the trading 'rule' is that someone who wins more should give more.

Oh poo, I don't have as many sent as I do won, I'm a leecher :c Fuck the almost 2X $ given to received ratio!

In all seriousness, some people give back after trying out the site for a bit, I started giving away after my 4th or 5th win because I started liking the people on this site and wanted to give back. In the case you want to avoid that likelihood, a very easiest of ways of avoiding having someone win who is a person who has 20 wins 0 sent or 20 wins 1 sent Is just make the giveaway for level 2+. shrugs

At least in my humble opinion...

I don't blacklist for ratios. Hell, if I started too I might as well blacklist people who get free keys from devs that boost their CV. But I don't, because it's not a reflection of that individuals personality. (Negative ratio doesn't equal terrible individual and positive ratio doesn't equal kind individual).

i will say something a little sad but i'm sure it's true for some =P
i have no godamn money =x i'm getting lower and lower on my savings every month because my salary can't pay the rent and food for my family but still, games are quite my life. So fucking yeah SG, i love this site, i love when the stupid cat shows up =D and sadly i can't repay as much as i win.
Not saying that so you don't blacklist me or something, feel free to do so, i'm just giving myself as an example of what OP said about "not everyone can mantain 1 ratio". So, blacklist if you want, not a single problem on that, but don't think that every "leecher" is just a kid that want to leech and because they can and that's it.
Edit: Almost forgot to mention that the site has the contributor level system to avoid it. And i would LOVE to have lv2 at least etc, but i just can't get money out of trees to do so. If i could i WOULD contribute more, if not for being grateful, to be able to have better chances of winning

I do have some people blacklisted for bad ratio; However I do not go through profiles looking for them. Usually it is them catching my attention with a somewhat "dickish" comment which makes me check them out and being a leech and a dick added together equals blacklist for me.

I have made at least 450 public giveaways and at least 350 of those were low level ones.

I have had major SG rule breakers like not activating gifts and re-gifting. I have had suspended users and VAC/Game/Trade banned users, I have had users that blacklisted me and entered and won giveaways.

I certainly have tried doing public ones but because of the above I do only some high level public giveaways and mostly SGTools giveaways.

Yeah, I have to agree.

I had batch of 30 GAs for 5th lvl and I filled 7 or 8 reroll tickets. It's better on higher levels, but even there are bad apples.

Used to blacklist due to ratio, but don't bother anymore since it was more work than it's worth. I'm too lazy to use sgtools or even put lvls on my gibs :P.

The only ones on my blacklist are those who failed my reading test awhile back.

I agree with you! Sometimes ratio is also just a number (you give expensive games and win cheap ones, and all count as "one". Even the money ratio isn't fair, as it doesn't take into account the discounts used...). Often I don't like to give away only bundled games, but from day to night there came region lock, then this Brazil's mess that made 1 dollar 2x more expensive for us... so even Humble Bundles aren't cheap anymore! What should I do? Stop entering giveaways? Sell something so I can buy games to give away? I already gave away games I don't have just because I wanted to give promo games for people that gave me games that I wanted, but I couldn't buy the game to myself at the time! People sometimes just can't have any empathy. Thanks for thinking outside of the box! :)

Probably showing my age here, but I actually wish we could just go back to the halcyon days of custom rules and pastebin blacklists and you-broke-my-rule-you're-not-getting-the-game-rerolls. If you want to catch site rule breakers, SteamGifts Tools has got you covered for the most part from what I gathered (I could be wrong, never used it myself). Still, custom blacklists can be practical and have their uses, and I guess it eases the burden on support. It can be satisfying to just toss the bigoted arse or the thankless winner or the guy/gal who nerves you endlessly on there and call it a day. Having said that, I agree with you that blacklisting based on ratio alone is a pretty idiotic thing to do.
