a far better "deal" than many other charity bundles like Jingle Jam.

I completely agree. If I had knowm that this Aussie bundle was coming, I would've saved my money on Jingle Jam for this.

I actually am sad Yogscast can't seem to pull similar game donation quality because I do think it would increase fairly significantly what those bundles can bring in for charity.

HB clearly doesn't do the curation for Jingle Jam though and probably has stronger relationships than Yogscast does.

Maybe, or perhaps they sell enough that there is no motivating factor to increase the JJ bundle quality? I cant help but wonder how many people buy the JJ bundle because of the brand recognition or being a fan of Yogscast. I personally am not into them, and I dont recall knowing about Yogscast before I first bought their bundle 2 years ago - So I'm not their target audience anyways.

There was definitely motivation behind the jingle jam from the Yogscast side, they (Lewis - the head guy from Yogscast, and Turps) would attend different conventions/fly out to meet with devs with the main incentive to get seek out copies for the bundle. But bc Turps did a lot of that (it was one of his biggest tasks jobwise throughout the year) 2019 was even rougher than usual with devs backing out due to 2 people (Turps included) leaving the Yogs with sexual harassment accusations.

I agree with you though that at the end of the day the quality is shaky and it's been tough for them to receive enough copies for games, so it's geared more towards their community/charity thing than anything.

Lot's of green, total cheapskate... but I also love koala's.
As I don't really know what else to do to help, this will be my donation then.

Hey, how is it marked as region lock? Did you try to create a gift link and had a notification with restricted countries? Or do you see it disabled / unavailable on the bundle page, before buying, even though you got a key on your purchase page?

Hey, there is no sub that has region restrictions for The Gardens Between, which means that you will get a ROW key anyway, assuming that the game is provided for you in the bundle (Humble Bundle might decide to not give keys to certain region / countries). What region are you from? do you see it disabled / unavailable on the bundle page, before buying?

Really conflicted about that bundle, its pricey for me, but those funds will help koalas... Since when ETS2 got 0 CV? I never saw that game given away for free at large amounts.

Stuff isn't bad. Price is high...

But what are they exactly going to do for the animals? Protest against proper firestops so more can die?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Feed them? Saving animals from the fire (the vehicles need fuel) doesn't worth much if you let them starve afterwards. Also it's ethical to pay the people doing that, unpaid internship is enough problem in the corporate world.

Hello
Can someone help me choose between the tree institutiuons
RSPCA
WIRES
World Wildlife Fund
?
Witch one is the most serious I mean will reditribute the better the money given to the cause ?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

WWF is really serious institutiuons and operates all over the world so i would start with that. At least its the most known in my area and it seems to be the largest of those 3. RSPCA is from UK that i suppose either has a department on Australia or they went there to help. Thats propably why i have never heard it. And WIRES is said to be the largest operation on Australia that i also dont know.

RSPCA is also an Australian organisation set upto help our animals (wild and domestic). They run animal shelters, organise animal rescues (such as during this fire crisis), run some vet clinics and can sometimes prosecute people for animal cruelty.

Thats good to know. The more that help the better. Thank you for the information and i wish you the best with the fires.

I ask an Australian friend about how much these institutions really help and this was his answer:

"Wires is an organization that helps injured native animals that does a lot of good work so I'd say they are doing a lot. The RSPCA is our main animal welfare organization that looks out for animals including domesticated animals so I'd imagine they're doing quite a bit as well. I'm not sure exactly what the WWF does in Australia, but I think they are pretty well respected with their work."

Kinda sad, that there is no tiers, can't afford the whole sum. The Stillness of the Wind, Feather and Paperbank looks the most interesting for me.

Yeah, there are different approaches. Equal splits are popular because it avoids making any judgments what game would be more valuable than others. But naturally this results in the risk of "more expensive" games of little value remaining non-sellers.

The only essential rule is that you can't make any profit, the rest is pretty much up to all participants.

I'm glad HB decided to set something up for this. Hats off to them and the devs/publishers who took part in this. And of course a big hats off to those who chose to donate.

On a side note it's really nice to see that no coupons to buy games are in the bundle.

Already did yogscast, and not like i am loaded but enough games missing that i probably fall for it again anyway.

Pretty confusing to have a game called Masquarade and in another Masquearada.

I also found this just in case anyone is interested.

Please note that WIRES seems to only provide financial support within the state of New South Wales of Australia, and other states like Victoria are receiving far less in donations for wildlife. WIRES has already received $11m+, whereas Wildlife Victoria has only received $1.25m+ as of January 8, 2020.

This is an excellent bundle, as I was just researching ways to help with Australia's fires
and was going to donate to WIRES anyways.. so basically, its Free games for me.
Thanks Humble for curating and thanks to all the Devs!

I've never paid that much before for a bundle, and all the games I'm interested in combined would be considerable cheaper in the Russian Steam store. But it's a perfect opportunity to donate at least something (I mean, the whole situation pains me just as it should pain any sane human being), and cool, I've even got some free games for myself and for giveaways as a bonus! I've chosen WWF because my dad used to work there for a long time, and I know for sure that these guys are trustworthy.

Unfortunately, they didn't tier this bundle. I'm sure more people would have bought in if they gave people flexibility in how much to contribute.

But high five for doing a good deed! し(*・∀・)/
