One of the IT guys at my previous government job died from opening a PSU. That's really dangerous and I don't recommend it. Even when the power is turned off it holds a pretty significant charge.

Thankfully the gods saw fit to keep you here on this earth. We all learn from our mistakes :)

There was a story a few years ago around these parts about a guy who died by trying to cut an empty gas bottle in half... with a power-saw... aparently he wanted to make a smaller stool out of it or so... O.o
At least kukee didn't go that far. I would've laughed hard at the guy's story btw, had he not died. O.o

I sometimes eat at my desk and have spilled food on the floor when bringing it over to my desk quite a few times, especially soups.

Next time just use your cd/dvd/blu-ray/x-ray/nextgen-ray as a bottle holder.

I don't like wine. I just wanted to get drunk at the time.

Some years ago I accidentally restored the wrong NVRAM backup to a wireless router (WNR834B) through the web interface and bricked it. Had to solder a JTAG interface to get that fixed, but at least that was a bit fun.
I broke another thing but I don't think it was my fault. I had just imported a CD64 for a few hundred bucks and had problems with it where it would randomly blackscreen mid-game. They're infamously unreliable devices, but they were the only thing I could buy at the time. My first thought was to replace its RAM (which I wanted to upgrade anyways), so I went to remove it and the plastic clip that holds the RAM in place exploded. It saddens me every time I look at it. Somewhere down the line I'll have to try and repair it (probably by soldering all 72 pins of the RAM v.v), but since then there have been a few modern, much better devices to do the job of the CD64.

I feel with you...
I just spilled coffee over my CM Storm Quickfire one week ago. Coffee for itself wouldn't have been so bad, but I drink it with milk and sugar... Now some keys are stuck. I'm just glad it's a mechanical keyboard and I can clean the switches... Still have everything detached lying around, housing, the keys, pcb, screws...
But I luckily had my old MS keyboard still lying around, so I avoided a late night trip... which wouldn't have worked here in Germany since shops are closed at night...

When i was a kid me and my brother were playing on my parents computer and my brother knocked over a water bottle and it spilled all over the computer, thankfully it still worked.

I now have a mechanical keyboard because I fried my wonderful Logitech G15v1 keyboard at my old apartment around 2 years ago. It had carpet on the steps, but the carpet was coming loose in a couple bad places. I was carrying a glass of water down the stairs, slipped on the shoddy carpet - trying to keep my footing I surfed down to the landing where I caught myself on the railing, twisting my ankle, separating my shoulder, and launched the glass of water almost directly onto my poor keyboard. Shit sucked.
Also, for nightwolf above there, I shared that one with my friend just now because it made me laugh and he asked why, so he shared this one and told me to post it - He was on a 3 hour delivery drive with a coworker, and out on the highway the guy had to slam on the brakes. Turned out that the fire extinguisher in the cab hadn't been resecured properly, shifted in the back seat of the truck, and started going off. >XD

I killed my beloved KB8926 (it's an old keyboard model that was quite popular in the late 90's, but is no longer produced, and is incredibly nice to type on) with a cup of tea last autumn. I lost count on how many cups of tea it had to withstand, but that cup was enough to break even my sturdy KB8926.

Me and you are lucky we live in areas with 24hour super stores like Wal-Mart.
I'm not clumsy. Only thing that comes to mind, is I had a working keyboard, and I clean it, and plug it back in... and pow its broken.
I guess the watered down windex some how f'd up the insides? all I did was whipe down the outside plastic after I removed each key.
Sheesh.

I spilled red wine all over my keyboard and had to make a late night trip to Walmart. Have any of you been really clumsy and broke something or made a mess before?
