Gift links for Overwatch seem to be ROW though, with the exception of them not being redeemable in the following countries BU BY CN CU ER IR KP LY MM SD SY VE (HB notice). Customers from these countries will get a $5 wallet credit instead.

More info: here (scroll down to "Q: I am getting a region related error message when I try to redeem").

Note about the CV that these games generate:

Normally, the unbundled games from the Monthly bundles give full CV. However, depending on their value on the grey market, some of them will be added to the partial CV list, disregarding the "5% retail value" threshold. When this happens, your CV will be recalculated and as a consequence, reduced retroactively. More details about this can be found starting with this comment.

October is the Month of Free Thought. You're free to pick one of the below.

View Results
[Recurring subscription] October is National Spinach-Lovers' Month, but I won't say no to Overwatch either.
[New Subscription] October is Gourmet Adventures Month, and I'm going in.
[Cancelling / Pausing subscription] October is Caffeine Addiction Recovery Month, and I'd like to both decaf and get out of this harmful subscription habit.
[Non-subscriber, will not buy] October is National Toilet Tank Repair Month, and honestly that's a better use of my money.
[Maybe subscribe] October is National Pizza Month, and I might want a slice of this bundle.
[Subscribed, and regret it] October is National Popcorn Poppin' Month, and most of those games had already popped their way into my library before. Sad.
[Didn't subscribe, and regret it] October is Computer Learning Month, and I should have learnt to buy good bundles like this.
[Complain] October is National Courtesy Month, and IGN should be nicer to all of us (more like Santa Claus).
[Potato] October is National Potato Month.

Last month's unlocks: 3 games for $130.
October's unlock: one game for $35 you can get for 20 bucks.

Hm. Better hope for some solid hidden games but last time they did the battlenet unlock thing, reveals were lousy

Jesus... first that Destiny 2 BS and now Overwatch.
Why not add GOG.com's Witcher III but keep on ugh Battle.Net?

PASS unless I can find someone again to pay the full price for that game alone :/ (though without key I suppose that's much harder)

Already at 8 bucks at some traders. If it goes to 9-10, I may contemplate on just selling mine instead of skipping the month. Although the chance for them to compensate for this atrocity as an unlock with actual games is small, I assume they genuinely feel this will satisfy most people.

I agree with "no more blizzard shit", but region lock is not too bad, unless you're in one of the 12 excluded countries. You can generate a gift link, and exclude the countries mentioned on Humble (BU, BY, CN, CU, ER, IR, KP, LY, MM, SD, SY, and VE).

Is there a giveaway for the extra copies on overwatch? I've tried it during the free weekend and got myself potentially hooked but not interested in buying this monthly

Judging by the number of giveaways, should we assume zombies, battle chef, and figment will be bundled?

all games from previous monthly will be in bundle list, $232.92 retail price

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Humble lists the retail value as $222 but I can't see how they calculated it; based on the store prices I get $232.92.
Depending on what SG considers that one pays for the bundle ($12 new subscription / $11 for annual plan / $10 for subscription + coupon), it's debatable if the standard CV rule should be applied or not. For example, if SG considers the paid value to be $12, then one would need a Retail value of minimum $240 so that those unbundled games fall into the partial CV tier. I guess SG considers that the price paid is around $11, which would mean indeed that last month's games will get partial CV.
But then again, with the new developments regarding adding low value G2A / Kinguin games to the partial CV list, I would also assume that most of the unbundled unlocks will get added to the partial CV list soon enough.

The calculation is always with the lowest possible price you can pay. And now it seems to be 10 USD for the monthly.

It's because they want AAA games ON STEAM - something that rarely happens anymore.

Personally, I'm OK with Overwatch, but I fully understand why people would complain about it.

A Hat in Time is indeed a great game, but it isn't AAA. High value? Maybe it was high value before the monthly, but now it's very cheap on trading sites/grey sites, unlike actual AAA monthy games like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Civilization VI, Dark Souls II-III etc.

This whole HB = charity thing isn't true anymore, especially when we're talking about monthlies. They're giving like 5% to charity organizations, nobody's subscribing for that (I bet most people dont even know about it). People want good games for their money, and when they get something they don't consider good enough for $11-12, they'll complain. It's completely natural human behaviour, you can't really do anything about it.

Nah, we just prefer to have games. Not an online store where you pay money and do not even know what you will get for it, yet somehow you should still be grateful for participating in online gambling.

I actually want high-quality indie games on Steam. I don't care for most AAA games. So I'm not asking for much, just what was promised.

When I paid for the yearly subscription, rules were clear that all games would be Steam keys or DRM free. It was right after they've included Destiny 2 that they changed the rules. They always say "you can pause a month", but I didn't pay for the yearly sub to pause a month whenever they feel like changing the initial rules. I'm not sure sure how long I'll live lol so I want to be get all the benefits I paid for as soon as possible.

Comment has been collapsed.

I think I should pause. H1Z1 was bad enough, especially since it went F2P not that long after.
Then came Destiny 2: The Attack of the Lootboxes. Now we now have Lootboxwatch. They even add additional lootboxes in the mix if it was not obvious enough what this is about.

Say what you want about Paradox and their ridiculous DLC policy, at least they give you a game first and actual gameplay content in 30 down payments. Seems like all Activision–Blizzard is good for these days is delivering lootbox-purchasing platforms that do not even bother with the game portion any more. The only good thing I can say about them is that they still did not got as blatantly greedy as Valve and built an entire black market economy around it. Yet.

Paradox even continue making content for a very old game thus extending its lifeline.

mine was something like "ok, goodbye old Monthly". like they changed/are changing their "focus", going towards something not steam.

thanks as usual!

I have pre-purchased the monthly until February 2020. So, my first thought was actually "Jesus fucking gods on a stick, ANOTHER fucking Activision–Blizzard lootbox generator?!" The next one was "okay, so I should remember to pause it a day or so before deadline to retain the 10% store discount or monitor SteamTrades to sell it for 9 bucks or more".

As for the Steam part, I think it is hardly a secret that I am actually trying now to minimise my purchases there. My gripe with the Monthly for a while is the lack of non-Steam PC games, frankly. I would be okay with battle.net titles if the entire battle.net had just one single game I am interested in. Alas, it has zero of that kind.

kinda sorry for smiley... but this was a nice read.

have been searching for possible ties between Activision-Blizzard and IGN, found none. and you seems better than Wikipedia, to my eyes, for these infos.

so my last question is just that: do you know if there's something, between them?

have a grrrreat weekend, talgaby!

Nah, I do not of anything. I just assume Activison just does something similar than it did with amazon/Twitch and promotes its shit for premium subscribers of a gaming service with the thinking that if they had money to throw at a service like that, then they have money for their lootbox casinos. But my Twitch feed is also always full of Overwatch/Destiny/other lootbox shit given away to Prime subscribers.

Lootboxes in Destiny 2 aren't required to enjoy the game, they contain cosmetic stuff and can be obtained for free by playing the game.
"playing the game", something it's not required to talk about it nowadays, i suppose.

i dont care actually what the early unlocks, i like nearly all genre and the bundles worth always that 11usd and that amount isnt much each month, literally its the only bundle worth to buy anyway and alone the monthly games creates such a big backlog that i dont need to buy brand new games, those will be in monthly anyway sooner or later:-)

Well, i definetly wont play Overwatch but it will be definetly a worthful object for a tier3 game trade from a regular humble what i dont want to buy because i need only that game from that bundle.
