Do you use headphones?
I remember some months ago a similar thread.. anyways:
I think that brands like Philips, Panasonic or Sony are all awesome, but Sennheiser has no matches when it comes to this field =) No matter the price, Sennheiser headphones are always a great purchase in my view!

and for music, radio and such.. whenever I need any kind of headphone.. SENNHEISER! the best brand ever in my humble opinion, hands down
I've heard this a lot. Sennheiser seems to have a very loyal customer- and fanbase. They have to be doing something right to garner that praise so consistently. My first choice for headphones would've been the HD20(somethings), which would've cost less than 30€. Sadly, I held off on buying them for a while and now there are literally none of them left in this country. After that, the prices for all of them stepped up to triple digits and I couldn't afford that anymore.

yes - definitely! I first heard of Sennheiser from my music-loving friends in my teens, I think we were in the mid-'90s.. and they absolutely praised Sennheiser, so I went along and I never came back.. even their lowest-costing headphones have an awesome quality! =) I really hope you'll manage to afford a Sennheiser product in this field! They've been producing high-quality products for decades and yeah, I can confirm that there's a very loyal base supporting them (with a reason, trust me =P)

I'm a university student, so by the time I need a new pair of headphones, odds are Sennheiser will be my first choice once again. I'll probably have more disposable income by then as well, if all goes to plan.
I'm tempted to get a cheap pair even if I don't need them just to see if they live up to the hype. :D

You're probably refering to the HD201 which saw a price increase everywhere when they were discontinued due to how popular they are. Have a look for the HD206 instead which is the almost identical model that replaced them. They'll likely be a little more expensive but it shouldn't be a massive price hike.

+1 re Senheiser, I quite like mine.
Regarding computer speakers, I got a used set of Logitech Z2300 over 10 years ago and still love them. The right speaker is a bit iffy but I'm nursing them along since the modern day equivalents just don't seem as good, either in build quality or sound.

yeah, no need to change them if they still work well! I use a lot of Logitech mouse + keyboards and they work perfectly! =)

SENNHEISER
Bought the Sennheiser RS 170 wireless headset, hum, 7 years ago, I think? And I've been using them pretty much on a daily basis and they still deliver. I purchased those mainly for music listening but I ended up watching movies and gaming with them too. When they die, I'll surely go for the newer model, currently it's the RS 175.
And I'm still using Sennheiser MX 471 earbuds with my iPod. They are amazing, but sadly discontinued. Best earbuds I've ever had. And they weren't that expensive either, 20-30$.
I also have an HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset from Kingston. Wired, this one. I wanted to have a headset with a mic. I should have gone for a wireless version though.

Yeah, totally fair. Audio's definitely the one thing where I'm down to spend whatever I can afford. I don't want to skimp out on it. Even though the $400 seems excessive to me, I'm pretty damn certain that once I actually use them, I probably can never go back :D
How steep was the sale btw?

<200€ I think so I'd imagine -50% with local prices. The 1000X that came after should be even better if you buy now. Back then I read reviews and they were on par with the king of wireless noise canceling Bose QuietComfort 35 (or some model from them, their Series II competes now with 1000X) in sound quality etc.

Sennheiser was my first choice. The cheap HD206 or whatever it was. It was under 30€. I waited too long and literally all of them in my country sold out. Went from most stores having them to none of them having them in 6 weeks or so. The next up price-wise was way too expensive for me since the price was in triple digits.

I think waiting could've been better. From my experience 30€ Sennheiser is better than 30€ other brands. (generally)
But idk, since you already bough it instead of refund, wait etc... just use it. I dont think there will be a huge difference.

They're completely out. No restocking. That's why I decided to not get them. The other option would've been to order internationally and that would've been literally twice as expensive, plus the shipping would've also added an extra 10-15€, so the overall price would've gone up to 50-55€. Would've otherwise done what you suggested though :D
I can still return the headphones I got though, thanks to some handy EU consumer laws. So if these suck, I'll just return them.
Though, I was definitely getting tired with shopping for headphones since there's just so many variants out there, so many varied reports of them and all in all, you'll just be confused most of the time. Well, that's what it was for me, at least :D
So to an extent, I just got frustrated and got a pair that was discounted, had some good features and was backed by a known brand.

Thanks dude :D
I'm still waiting for them to finish their first charge. Should be done in the next hour or so. Excited to actually listen to something through them too. They're not extremely comfortable currently, but I had the same issue with my current ones. I have to get used to them and also let the padding adjust to me, so it'll only get better. Even now they weren't too bad. I'm pretty optimistic about them for sure though.

So, overall, my current review would be this.
The sound's solid. I'm not used to it currently, but I know I'll get used to it over time because the quality's solid.
They are a bit tight around my head. Just like my old ones were. It'll let loose a bit over time and the padding will become more maleable, so it'll conform to my glasses more. Right now it's satisfactory, so I know it'll be good later. I can adjust it a bit as well, so it won't be an issue.
These are my first wireless headphones. They have a radio transmitter, instead of a Bluetooth one. I'm really impressed. They really reach everywhere in the apartment. Thought I could only use them in adjacent rooms, so I'm very satisfied.
Though, there's a slight hiss when it's completely quiet. I'm only noticing it because of the reviews. If I'm focused on something, it won't bother me and it'll be at the back of my mind. I'm guessing that's the downside of the radio transmission. Personally, I doubt I'll ever be in a quiet moment with my headphones on. It helps that it automatically turns them off when I'm not wearing them thanks to the sensor in the headband.
Overall, I was afraid of the worst. Didn't get the best. Didn't pay for the best. Got a positive surprise with a minor drawback.
I won't be returning them :)

That is really great. One of the things i hate with wireless things is the battery. Do you think it will be enough for a day?

I think that is good, but as i said before, i am a sound freak so that slight hiss might be big problem for me :D Big distance is very big positive tho :)

Good for you :) Have fun while using them :D

It should be. It should last for 18 hours of active use and the charging dock's easy to use, so I'll just put it to charge every time I go AFK for longer than a few minutes. So I doubt it'll be an issue. At least for now... Time will tell if the battery loses its max charge over time or not. The only time I've heard of the battery is when someone said that he hasn't felt the need to replace the battery in 5 years.

That's basically the only issue I really have with these headphones. There's a small part in me that's saying to just return these, but at the same time I know that I won't really get anything better for this price range and that I'll get used to the slight hiss when nothing's playing. Even now, I'm fiddling with the volume controller and noticed that it isn't there when I lower the volume by around 50%. So it's manageable as well.
There's always going to be an issue with something and I'll try and not get discouraged.

Then probably you woN't have this problem, good.

You may want to try equalizer programs as well. It may help.

I use Edifier speakers/monitors on my desktop setup, and when I need headphones I use Sennheiser HD428's and I love them. Recently had to replace the ear cups as the old leather/vinyl covered ones were flaking pretty badly, but with new felt ear cups they're more breathable than when they were new, and are really comfortable (again).

Unless I want to block out sound or staying with someone and trying to be quiet I don't really use my headphones, when I do though its just that and not earphones. Both types hurts my ears however the type I use kotion each g2000 is the only one by far I've found that don't and I believe they work fine. They are cheap but the 1st time I had this type it lasted a very long time and I'm able to change the volume on the headphones itself

Almost 3 years, if I remember correctly, they are still in mint condition. I think they are very well built, comfortable even for extended gaming sessions and I personally really like the sound quality. They don't have a mic and are wired, but that's what I wanted/needed.
I only tried Sennheisers for a few minutes in a BestBuy, so I cannot really compare. I had a positive opinion though.

I totally agree here, this is why I have no problems at all in using stand-alone USB speakers or 5€ Philips standard headphones if it's the case, in the computer I'm writing on right now I've got a Sytek monitor (never managed even to understand where this brand comes from) with in-built (tremendous) speakers but they do their purpose here so I wouldn't ever spend more if I don't get any advantage
same goes for basic logitech mouse and keyboards

Haha, Esperanza has invaded and subsequently taken over the extreme low-end consumer electronic products. I've tried a few of their things out, but most have been pretty bad. Even for their price. Glad to hear you're satisfied with them though. They're so cheap that it'll save you a shitload of money in the long-term.

Well my PC must be high/medium end but I don't need expensive mouse, keyboard, speakers or headphones to enjoy games :)
My mouse is 7 euro Tracer.
My speakers are 5 euro Genius.
My headphones are 5 euro Esperanza.
My keyboard was 5 euro noname but now it is 50 euro Bloody B120 that I have won 3 years ago in some GA in the shop I was buying parts for my new PC.

I'm the same with my current keyboard/mouse. Though, I'm looking to get some better ones now. Main thing to upgrade would be the mouse. I just need one that has a durable mouse wheel that just won't start spazzing out 3 months into use. Plus, having more than 3 buttons wouldn't hurt.

Unfortunately I have some tiny-ass auditory canals so standard earphones won't fit.
Used to only wear my ATH-AD700 (✝) but nowadays mostly using stereo speakers.
Headphones for movies or gaming once in a while, but the AD900X (or anything else I've tried) are nowhere near as comfortable as the AD700 sadly...
Home (Headphones): ATH-AD900X (w/ Zalman ZM-MIC1 clip-on mic if needed)
Home (Speakers): Creative GigaWorks T20 Series II
Travel: ATH-M50s/LE

Well the old pads are hard to come by now. I don't remember where I left my old headphones or if I threw them away... Anyway I can't honestly tell if the pads itself are that much different. The way it clamps just feels different. No I meant the ear cups/pads specifically, I don't really notice the headband.

I have speakers on my desk behind my monitors... that are not even connected to my PC, that should give you a good idea how much I use them.
For 6 or 7 years I used the Plantronics GameCom 788 and I loved them to death but sadly my last one started having cable issues a year ago and when I went to buy a new one it was discontinued :(
Now I use the Hyperx Cloud 2 which are really comfy, they sound ok but the mic on them sounds so god awful I had to buy a standalone one. I know quite a few people with the same headsets and their mics sound fine, I exchanged the headset once thinking it was simply faulty and I tried it on a different PC too and had 3 different people check over my settings, so I am really not sure what is going on there.

Haha, same here. They're not connected, but they're still here. That one time a friend visits or something and I need to blast some music :D

HyperX always feels like its trying to compete with Razer mostly. So a lot of style and not enough substance. But I've only tried a couple of their products, so I can't really comment on it. The only HyperX product I've tried is the RAM I have in my PC currently. The only reason I bought them was because they were the cheapest available :D

Yea mine are there just in case too :D
I only got it because I needed a headset the same day and there was exactly 1 electronic store open near me (it was either a Saturday or Sunday, I don't remember) and that was basically the best they had. The rest was mostly just Razor stuff. And now that I got a standalone mic I don't mind the headset at all and considering I was given a 4 year warranty for free I will be using it for quite a bit longer. After that, who knows :)
Cheap RAM is best RAM :D screw all that RGB nonsense

AKGs - quality stuff, low price and suitable for home use as well as studio (which is what theyre intended for really). They also do bluetooth versions. Youll get far more bang for your buck from these than a brand like Sony.

Current Headphones :
Philips Fidelio X2
Beyerdynamic DT770 LE
I still have my old Sennheiser PC360 somewhere in the dust.
Upcoming Headphones :
Current Speakers :
Some random 2.0 kit from Logitech i bought a decade ago.
Upcoming Speakers :
Edifier E25 HD in blue color.
Upcoming Earphones :
Sony N3AP
Etymotic ER-4XR
Not sure yet if i should get both, the idea is one for commuting and one for my travel and home usage.
I'm an enthusiast and i care a lot about my audio that's why i invest a good amount on it.

Beyerdynamic "Custom One Pro" I've tried a variety of cheaper products that all had some parts that weren't as durable as I would have liked, but with this one I'm finally satisfied. They're very comfortable to wear, cancel all outside noise, which is very important to me (not so much for gaming, but for working on subtitles or video) and they're very durable. Last but not least, they're one of the few headphones still made in Germany.

A fine choice. Beyerdynamic is probably one of the best brands out there.

I have to remember to keep them charged... but they're really nice. Not too heavy so I can wear them for long stretches; good sound quality; comfortable on my ears; microphone included.

So I just bought new headphones after having my old, relatively cheap Philips headset for over half a decade. It isn't dead really, but the left side needs to be fidgeted around a fair bit every time I move because it loses connection.
So the new ones I got are Sony headphones. First time I've had wireless headphones as well, so I'm pretty excited. Currently it's charging in the charging dock that I've placed on my computer case.
I'm a dummy, so I didn't really ask people for any advice on my purchase (I still have 14 days to return it, no questions asked). I guess now's as good a time as any to ask you all what brand of headphones do you use? Also, if the answer's different for it, then what brand do you recommend the most? How much did you pay for your headphones approximately?
