Happy (soon to be!) 35th Birthday!:)
I imagine you spent a lot of money on those LEGOs over the years, but as long as you get enjoyment from a hobby, isn't it worth it in the end? I think it is! Nice collection! I really only collect comic books and beach glass.:)

It might have gotten slightly out of hand the last (few) year(s)... Esp. considering that these images don't really include my to-do pile of stuff still in the box... but so far I've managed to not spent more then I can afford so all is well ;)

Well, it looks like you've kept that room pretty tidy, so I don't think it looks too out of hand!:) Do you have a particular set that is your favourite?:)

Hehe, that made me really laugh cause I feel like I usually feel like I'm just slightly on the acceptable side of the border to being the hoarder... but I guess those pictures were taken at the right angles to hide the pile of empty boxes, the piles of random papers, etc ;-)
Hm, hard to say... Seeing how I generally enjoy the building process the most, I do like the Lego Technic models most I'd say. They are generally much more interesting to build... In that respect the lego technic porsche was a fun build, but with that one they had me build really complicated mechanical stuff with gearshifting etc only to hide it away at places where you can't look at them again. I really look forward to the millennium falcon just for sheer size, but I have not started it yet cause I'm not sure if my dinner table will offer enough space and where to put it when it's done.
Some of the "slightly boring to build" models like the big ben do look great in the end, though...

I started counting backwards when I hit 35, I'm now 23.

And Happy birthday (: Round back to 20! There's still so much ahead of you. I wish you to find the one you're looking for. And health to your dad.

My eyes are naturally drawn to books. :D
Derails thread
What did you think of The Long Earth series - especially in comparison to Pratchetts other books and collaborations? I never really got into it. Dunno if worth giving it another go. :)

I didn't really either... I read the first one and thought it was... okay, but rather different from the kind of books from him I enjoy more... I ordered the next two books based on the "it's pratchett!" argument, but I think I only started the second and never even opened the third... But I always thought that I should either read them all or at least look up some more stuff about the other books cause I'm somewhat curious where the series is going, it did not feel like a setup for a series...
Slightly to the left of those books are three from "the demi monde" series, which is another that I never finished where I feel like I should at least look into where that series is going... too many series where I feel like that, I guess :P

Same. ^^

the discworld series were my favorite novels as a child I think I read them at least twice in grades 1-4
the problem with the long earth series was it was a collaboration and somwhere along the line it lost the humor id come to expect from him..
anyways I'm jumping on this random section of the thread.
Back when I read loads right beside the discworld novels I really liked the myth adventure series (robert asprin)
if you haven't read them they have a similar humor

Yeah, but Good Omens was a collab too, and it was fantastic (and also on the shelf :P)
He co-wrote the Long Earth series pretty late tho... :/

Well, it is that time of year again for me to ponder my age again... on the 11th this month I'll be turning 35, which means I have to start rounding up to being closer to 40 then to 30... Oh, I felt like making jokes about midlife crisis and stuff but then I noticed that I made exactly the same jokes last year. Whoops. I guess I'm getting forgetful in my old age :-P
Any big updates during the last year? Hm... Still the same job, still no wife or kids and stuff, still the same car, still the same flat,... (There's definitely more LEGO in it, though 😉) My dad's sick but so far it's going okay and I'm not the kind of person to let that pull me down.
Oh, just thought of something random to share now that I wrote the a list containing "same job" and "no kids"... I like kids and kids like me and I work in IT which is nice but not very sociable... So I thought I'd look into doing some volunteer work... Not quite unsurprisingly walking into the place that manages volunteers around here as a single 34 year old male with no official qualifications in the childcare sector raises a few eyebrows... And I ended up with nice recommendations of places that needed someone to build their homepages and stuff 🙄 I guess I'll stick to playing with/babysitting the kids of my friends and family 😝
On to what you are probably here for, some GAs... Again, nothing fancy cause I'm lazy and cheap, but there should be some technically unbundled stuff in there... The rules are taken from my last few posts...
Just to clarify 'cause multiple people seem to have misunderstood/over-interpreted: The stuff about no family and my job not being social was not meant so say that I'm really looking for a family and blame my job or anything... I like my solitary lifestyle :) It was more related to the stereotypical stuff about getting older means thinking about stuff like that.
And while I it's nice that people praise me for being willing to volunteer, I must confess that I ended up doing nothing cause everything they actually offered felt like actual work and not the playful fun I was hoping for :-P
New update: I broke my laptop screen. Looks like I did something to crack it while it was in the bag. I don't really use it much and it is already quite a few years old but still it sucks. I mainly use it when I spent some time with my parents, that's also why I did not hang around that much this weekend. Everything else still works so I guess I'll just leave it at my parents full time, I pretty much use it only at my old desk there anyway, guess it'll just turn into a mediocre desktop pc :P
