I try to invest at least several hours into every game I win. Giving Fortix is fun for everyone though ;)

Well there are people on this site that average more than a win a day. Personally I don't mind for older, on-sale games too much but I do mind moreso for new releases. Also, I understand people have backlogs as do I so it's normal for most of my winners to not play the game soon.

+1
I WANT to play my dragon age origins. But it has 27 f*cking GB, that takes me over 40 hours to download if I download all the time and use no internet at that time

I could get that double quick, but it would use a third of my monthly datacap by itself.

Sometimes, we can't play the games because maybe we already have a bunch on backlog? I haven't played my won NecrovisioN because I don't think my computer can handle it (I'll probably try it later, I just forget a lot, and my BL GOTY is installing).

Honestly, I would try to play the games I won but they are nothing like I thought they would be. I enter a lot of giveaways because the game sounds or looks interesting. I won Galactic Arms Race, which is pretty fun but boring alone after awhile. Multiwinia, which has controls I do not care for and it is kinda generic in gameplay for the strategy genre (that is just my opinion). Fortix, well... I played it for a short bit but it kinda got old quick for me. As for Geneforge, I given it a chance and got lost in the first two games right away not knowing what to do. At this point I decided to just not give the genre a chance ever again (I never played this type of genre before and I was curious). Finally, the game I won recently, Aquaria, is actually pretty good. I have no excuse for that one, I should actually try harder to make time for it.
Something to remember is, a lot of us enter giveaways for games we are interested in enough to accept them for free, but not enough to spend money on them.

most people just want free stuff and don't actually ever intend on playing.. for me a lot of games don't showed up as played because i mod them and have to load them outside of steam.. such as fallout 3/new vegas etc.

I am definitely guilty. I've been on Steam AND here for 6 months now and already have more than 250 games. I'm adding games faster than I play them. backlog imminent. I will definitely play my wins, but finishing them may be a different story.

sometimes they just never cared about the game and you cheered their day just by giving them a gift
hasn't it happened to you that you get a gift on your birthday and you really never use it but when you look at it you feel happy someone gave it to you?
even if they never play the game, it's still valuable to them so don't worry =D

I currently have 52 games in my backlog for Steam. I really really want to play a lot of these games I won but just don't get around to them always. I do admit, I accepted Civilization III knowing there was a good chance I'd never play it, but the guilt got me to buy another copy and give it away.

Anybody else get kind of annoyed to see the winners of your giveaway not actually play the game they won? Of all the winners of my 52 giveaways, I think I've seen maybe three people actually play the game.
Would it make more sense to only allow one entry at a time? You would still keep the point system to limit people from just entering every giveaway about to close. I think this would make people choose their entries wisely. There's no way 830 people want to play Fortix and only entered because it cost 1p. Someone might really want to play that game, but chances are it'll never be played by the winner.
Edit: I'm not asking people to finish the game. I'm not even asking for the winner to play more than an hour of the game. I'm just wondering if it bothered anyone that the winners don't even try the game. I'd much rather the game go to someone who really wants to play it instead of someone who adds it to their backlog that's 150 games deep.
And how is it stalking someone when the library page on Steam tells you which of your friends has played the game? When you send a gift through Steam, it automatically adds them to your friends list.
I know you guys can't believe I have the audacity to wonder if the games I bought with real money are going to those that actually want to play them and not pad someones collection.
