how many of your votes were for the winning game(s)?
Wow. So many games that won that don't make any sense at all. GTA V with the big plot twist? Ooookay!
I had 3 choices that ended up being winners. Skyrim, Goat Simulator, and Doom.
I hope if they do an Awards-type event in the future, they change the way they do the voting. This year's choices just smack of "meh-ness".

as others said, the criteria for the awards were (apparently) open to wide interpretations - iirc, i nominated Mu Cartographer for Woooooah because... th-that's what it elicited out of me xD

LOL!;)
Well, I just think that GTA V wasn't really a good choice for that, as I thought it would be more like the mind-blowing twist of, say, Bioshock ;) That one almost knocked me on my ass when it happened, and that is the game I originally voted for when the nominations were first sent out.

i can see how GTAV merits a Wooooah only by: the first-person perspective (really only warrants that reaction if the player had played it on console before, and considering this is PC, how many of us would admit to stooping to the level of the peasants?) and the sheer scale of it (bigger and (arguably) better games out there, Witcher being one) - all that to say, yeah, it didn't deserve the award
i played BioShock Infinite all the way through in one sitting - sadly, i just found the ending to be a bit trite :x BUT of the nominations, i'd've picked it second to PP
Mu Cartographer melted my face so yeah

What was PP again?
I always thought of the Whoa aspect as being a twist. That is why I was puzzled about all the choices except possibly Bioshock Infinite (haven't played it, so didn't know if there was a twist).
Mu Cartographer looks cool. I tried to win it, but had no luck. LOL!
So, did Darkest Dungeon end up winning?;)

Phantom Pain
Some games melt your face. Maybe it was a crazy plot twist. Maybe you just got your wisdom teeth removed.
Either way, this game BLOWS YOUR MIND.
it was one of the best experiences i had gaming in '16, definitely worth getting (eventually)
why mention Darkest Dungeon...?

I'll keep my eye out for it, then.:)
I mentioned Darkest Dungeon due to your Wishlist thread with it being in the lead last I checked, that's all.:)

3
ETS2 for Before It Was Cool and for Sit Back and Relax.
Goat Simulator for Best Use of Farm Animal
Missed 2 (Chose Broforce instead of Doom for BOOM BOOM, and SMB instead of DS3 for Love/Hate)
Other than that, was a little disappointed with some of the winners mostly the GTA V wins, but people voted and have their mistakes opinions :3
Suppose I can give Skyrim some leeway, as it does have some years on it.
Hopefully we never have to go through this again or they can hire a comittee/set better criteria/never do this again
Anyhouzen thanks for the thread to read peoples opinions bash other peoples opinions for other other people self righteousness to trigger other peoples opinions :3

Well, I've picked The Witcher 3 too but i can understand why GTA V won those cat. Its and awesome game with great little details and even tho i love Gwent GTA V is build upon those little side games like darts, tennis, gold, races, etc...

3 votes (the villain one, the love/hate one, and the friends one). all in all, it was kinda meh.
hopefully if they do this again next year, they'll have better categories. that dont have vague descriptions, since a lot of the disappointment seems to arise from people reading the same description and getting completely different interpretations. like test of time, a lot of people read that as "old games that are still popular" and others read that as "games that arent necessarily old but still have players going back to them again and again."

i assume that is why some of the games won the awards that they did - people hoping the winners would be more heavily discounted; so many of the winners aren't actually suitable to their categories, so it's either that or strictly popularity contests (which would be one in the same maybe) - as for ToT, it might have been picked based on people's expectations for the game to linger, regardless of current age

3 votes, I nominated completely other games tho but I'm not mad at the winners out of these nominees.

5 "correct" and my vote for Love/hate one that went to DS3 was there just cause that's the most notorious thing about it, I had played 0/5 in that one. For me there should be an DK/DA option in those cause with its current format it was either vote in categories where you haven't played everything or in some cases none of them or get no cards, and let's be honest, who will opt for no cards?
And how the hell did GTAV win "Whoa, dude!" when Bioshock Infinite is in there?!

(to secure the top comment in a page)
Far Cry 3 because Vaas is best villain (of those nominated)
Starbound for no reason - best choice of those nominated
(1/2) Skyrim because (")timeless(") and just had a remastered (re-)released, though this category was probably the most difficult to choose - had the most appropriate nominations (Terraria or Civ V would've been better though)(maybe even TF2 since oldest)(i'll admit, i voted on this one based on popular opinion)
Terraria because truth (third most played game of mine)(family sharing)(another tough one, though (i guess))
Phantom Pain because Kojima can mindfuck the most unwavering - i scoff at the other nominees
Stanley Parable for no reason (i don't remember the secondary game, unless it's the "don't burn the baby," in which case Witcher 3 would've been better, though Garry's Mod and Tabletop Simulator are other good ones)(though i'd argue that there is no inherent game to be found in those two - the game IS the other games built within it, if you can dig it)
This War of Mine. because.
(2/2) Goat Simulator 'cause duh (though it's said other awards were rigged (heh), this one was intentionally biased towards Goat Simulator, no arguing that)
Just Cause 3. because. (another tough one though)
Darkest Dungeon because RNG
Viridi because C H I L L (ETS(2) is just... no)
Gang Beasts because i knew it wouldn't win (Golf With Friends probably the most surprising nomination of them all)(though most shocking would be Ark for Animial, GTAV, DOOM and Witcher 3 for Wooooooah, and Unturned for Cool)

quite a farce if i do say so myself
sorry for the mistake; this is take two; failed first try
have a consolation gib for a game that would have been suitable for several of the awards
original (afaik) discussion - wish i'd've more thoroughly checked 'fore making this redundant
