I'd be interested to know why you'd think that Windows 7 Professional sucks. All the editions are the same at core, plus some extras added at every level. Unless there are features available only in Ultimate that you'd want to use, Pro is generally your best bet.

Then nothing else... OH yea one more thing... SOME FILES I CAN'T OPEN BECUSE I NEED TO BE ADMIN BUT I AM ADMIN ON MY OWN F***ING COMPUTER...

AFAIK, this has nothing to do with having the Pro version. Been running that same version for 3 years and never experienced such a problem. It's probably the work of some rogue software or a misconfiguration in user's rights.

i'm liking now win8, even so i'm upgrading most of my household PCs.

I own it since it got out, but haven't been able to use as main OS because of annoyances , but i think i solved them all by now. If you don't want or don't have time for that, you should stick with win7/xp.

I'm really liking the boot up time for my family multiaccount pc. Since windows (any version) doesn't have a "log off + suspend" button, they have to shutdown. Tough Windows 8 has a "feature" (annoying) that automatically logs on last user (when not using passwords) which breaks the whole multiaccount purpose, it can be fixed with a tweak, but you lose the windows store. But it was no problem here.

I don't mind losing the windows store, i have been trying metro apps since win8 came out and i haven't found any value on them. Maybe on touch, but for desktop/laptop not.

As for my PC, start screen really gets messy when installing lots of software, i'm too lazy to arrange them :P, and to install a start menu replacer. I don't use it that much anyway

Windows 8 is fantastic for multimonitor desktop setup and gaming. Just don't expect to use metro apps much. Really there is no reason to go with Windows 7 unless you are too thick to work the start menu.

I hear great things about Linux, but I just don't care enough to fiddle with it and get it working how I want. So for me it's Windows 8. It's a slightly improved version of Windows 7. Mostly because of the task manager. Holy shit is the task manager so much nicer.

There is no such thing as one best operating system. They all have been written with different intents, serve different purposes and have different strengths and weaknesses. Windows is still the best system when it comes to gaming (about 10% of my library is currently available on Steam for Linux, slightly more for Mac), with the best driver support and optimisation. Linux is great for a lot of server applications. And so on. It depends on your preference and what you want to do with it.

That being said, MacBooks do NOT run iOS. And Vista was a piece of crap.
