Why do people write 'thank you' in every giveaway?

Does it hurt to say thanks? Some appreciate it,some just don't care. Although I don't say thanks everytime,when I enter from smartphone I am usually to lazy to write something.

Because it feels rude to say absolutely nothing. If I've got more to say then I will but if I have nothing specific to add or discuss then I'll just add a thanks or something to that effect :).

i have see a lot of people say "thanks" on a FAKE Giveaway!! ROFL!!

If the gifter takes the time to write something special then I will take to time to post a special response. If the gifter posts something generic or nothing at all then I will at least pretend to be civil and say thank you. Many people were taught simple manners by their parents, so why stop?
