Hi and welcome to the community =)
The game version depends on the location where you bought it.
If you activate a ROW copy of Bulletstorm for example, you will get the uncensored version, even if the game is censored in your region.
Beware in this special case of "Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army" - because if it's a key from Amazon, it can't be activated in Germany.
If someone is giving away a low violence / censored version, he normally states it in the description.
Generally it's not allowed to give away regional restricted games, but giving away a game restricted to Poland in a Polish group is fine (just to give an example).
If you can't access a steam store page for a game, because it's not available in your region, add "?cc=us" to the URL and you will see the US page (example: http://store.steampowered.com/app/39510/?cc=us) Note that it will also display the US price, however you will still have to pay in your local currency during check out.
Also: Steam support will not change your version to an uncut version if you've activated a cut version (glaub mir, ich hab's versucht).

Hi Dopefish,
thank you a lot for you'r very clear explanation. So I can ignore most of the information shown at the german steam page.
Does this mean, that I can buy international and uncencored versions with the "?cc=us"-trick?
Don't get me wrong, that would be great. It just sounds too easy.

Hi folks,
just decovered steamgifts a few days ago and really like it. So first: Hello everybody ;)
Like the title says, I'm wondering about some generally stuff.
I'm from Germany and many giveaways I can enter are listed as "lowered violence" in steam.
Some giveaways aren't even listed in german steam, like the sniper game with the nazi zombies. Don't get it why :)
The main question is: what's more important for steam, the location where a game is buyed or the location where the key is accomplished?
and is there a way I can see the original conditions of the giveaway? (because I believe the review always links to the german site and I can't see where the licence is from)
Or are they always the german condition because I use the key with german location?
Because I heard it's not that easy to change a steam licence if it's done. E.g. from game with cencorship to the uncut one.
