Hi all, many of us, like me, probably bought many bundles in which some games were not available on Steam at the time, but they were on Greenlight and so we bought them pre-emptively just to get a 'free' Steam key later.

Recently a lot of Greenlight games came out on Steam, so my question is: which released games (GreenLight games that are just approved do not count) are you waiting to get a key?

Since I've been suggested to make a kind of database, I ask to help me to build it saying which games you got where.

Released Greenlight games that give 'free' keys:

  • Waking Mars (The Humble Bundle for Android 4)
  • McPixel (directly from developer)
  • Anodyne (Humble Store)
  • Towns (Alpha Collection #1)
  • Gnomoria (IndieGameStand)
  • No Time to Explain (GamersGate)
  • Kenshi (GamersGate, apparently needs Steam Beta to be activated)
  • DLC Quest (the St. Patrick's Day Bundle, the Chosen Bundle)

Released Greenlight games that WILL (hopefully) give 'free' keys:

  • La-Mulana (Build a Greenlight Bundle)
  • Wake (the Valentines Bundle 2.0)
  • Lunnye Devitsy (the Valentines Bundle 2.0)

Greenlit games that were in a bundle:

  • Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards: Reloaded (Build a Greenlight Bundle)
  • Unepic (The July Jubilee Bundle)
  • Dawn of Fantasy (Green Light Bundle 2, Be Mine 6)
  • Perpetuum (Green Light Bundle 2)

My personal lists:

  • La-Mulana (Build a Greenlight Bundle)

Greenlit games I already got this way:

  • Waking Mars (The Humble Bundle for Android 4)
  • McPixel (bought directly from the developer website)
  • Anodyne (Humble Store)
  • DLC Quest (The Chosen Bundle)

No Time To Explain. Never got my key, nor did any others who purchased from GamersGate. Developer is not commenting on the matter after two months of questions. Since the developer put on the Greenlight page that purchasers via other avenues (explicitly including GamersGate) would get Steam keys, I can only assume that their silence means they're just going to ignore us and hope we go away.

...Have you actually contacted the developer? This sounds like a localised issue among few users, I got my steam key perfectly fine.

I did, emailed them with proof and everything. Was ignored.

They also actively posted on the steam forums before saying all GG users would get a key and then disappeared and haven't posted in weeks in that thread.

Did you get your key from Gamersgate? I know that people who bought their game directly from the developer have their keys but so far, Gamersgate buyers are getting the shaft.

Probably because a cut of the proceeds for the game went to Gamersgate already. So Steam would want their cut as well for each key. Directly from the dev website means they only paid a minimal fee to the payment service and then the Steam chunk. A Steam key for Gamersgate buyers would mean that the developer is paying a GG chunk and a Steam chunk. While I can understand a dev's hesitance to want to pay two distributors, it would alienate early supporters, making them less likely to purchase future releases from said dev.

As stated here and here the keys are provided to the developers at no cost.

Oh, well in that case, no clue. Guess it's just laziness or hoping people will spend money on their game again.

What I replied earlier on this topic :

"All buyers should only ever need to buy one copy, and absolutely nothing else. Where possible we will always provide a key. So yup, every purchase of Rawbots will receive a steam key."

Words straight from the dev's mouth.

Yeah, but we didn't really buy a copy. We got it for free (and they know which accounts got it for free probably).

That can be a problem, but I hope they'll give us a key...

You basically bought it with a 100% promo and considering his words and attitude, I'd say it's safe to say we'll get those.

Dawn of Fantasy.

I think I have a couple other games that are on Greenlight that came in bundles, but I honestly don't care if they get Greenlit or not.

Project Zomboid for sure, DLC Quest, Gnomoria (I already redeemed my key), StarDrive (Not Greenlit but instead Early Access, but I own on Desura, I hope to transfer over to Steam...)

Oh the list goes on.

Where did you bought it?

Was in the GamersGate IndieFort bundle. The devs originally stated that we would get keys but then disappeared and haven't said a thing since - so it doesn't look like it.

Once again, have you contacted the devs at all? I got my key!

Finally got an answer back from the dev. Seems everyone who got the game on Gamersgate from IGN Prime could very well not get their key. Apparently IGN never paid for the game in the first place so they're trying to work with them and Gamersgate to fix this.

You can add to the list Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space which was in the Indie Royale May Hurray Bundle and got Steam keys later.

Also you can add The Journey Down: Chapter One which was in Indie Royale Summer Bundle and got Steam keys later.

Lunnye Devitsy and Wake won't be getting steam keys the developers already stated they wanted you to buy it again if you want to get it on Steam. Was posted somewhere in one of the comments on their facebook page.

Edit: it looks like they deleted that post, maybe the backlash made them change their mind?
Edit 2: looks like it might be only IndieRoyale buyers that will get a key and IndieGala buyers will not.
Edit 3: confirmed the above, clicky. The dev originally stated no steam keys, people complained and then he said he would get them out to the 2013 edition owners which is IR only as IG only had the original edition.

The main one for me is Unepic (Indie Royale July Jubilee Bundle), which was recently greenlit. The dev has said all along that they would try to get all current owners Steam keys, so I hope it happens once it gets released. Aside from that I am also waiting for Anodyne Premium and LA-MULANA.
