I have lost 2 cats and had to giveaway 2 cats (dues to change in housing) in the last 10 years.

The first cat I lost my mother actually ran over her on our driveway....that was my favourite cat in my lifetime so I was sad and a little angry at my mother.

The second cat that passed had lung cancer and was put down....but she was only 3 years old (we live in a healthy area and do not smoke).

Although your circumstance is sad, it is probably the best way after living a full happy life.

I lost my dog of 9yrs last August, and couldn't bring myself to get another pet. :'(

Poor kitty. ;_; But the kitty lived a good and full life, so no need to feel sad. :/

I think 17 human years translates to about 90 cat years, which is pretty impressive. She'll be remembered, I'm sure.

It's a beautiful thing to welcome a pet into our hearts, but can be heartbreaking when we have to say goodbye. Seventeen years is a long life, and I'm sure you've made hers a happy one. Please take comfort in that, and in knowing that she's no longer in pain.

Sorry for your loss, your cat is fishing in heaven! At least you got 17 years in her side, you're lucky to have a friend on your side for so long! I bet it will be difficult to choose the best moment you had together, as I'm sure you had many!! ;)
