My opinion is:
Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box(maybe), Crash Time II,
Faerie Solitaire, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Killing Floor, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

I found a store in my country that guarantees Black Friday prices for the entire month. They sell the ASUS R9 270 is about 215$ and IT IS the cheapest I could found nearby. Eastern Europe is bad :(

But my wallet would not recommend getting a Nvidia card ever in my life :(

I'm in the same position, my 6850 almost died and barely runs anything.
I'm waiting for Black Friday deals on Amazon and get GTX 970 with Global Shipping. In my country, Turkey, that card costs about 550$.I'm pretty sure it'll get cheaper than 300$ on Amazon for Black Friday.
And my advice, R9 270 is not worth buying. It's almost the same card, performance change is unnoticable.Go for R9 280 or higher, or get an Nvidia 760-960(when it got released) or higher.

Dont expect great discounts for the 970. It's selling like crazy as it is.

A man can hope.I'll pray to the Flying Spaghetti Monster to bring a good discount to it.
At least some cards will get nice discounts, it'll be cheaper to buy in Black Friday either way.

Well, the 770 and the 780 will probably get the biggest discounts. But those are not the ones you want considering a 970 could get pretty close to a 780ti with proper drivers.

I used to have r9 270 in my computer before I sold him and it really was a decent card, however that was a year ago so I don't know how well it handles today's games

R7 265, R9 270 and 270x are all three solid performers for very good prices. In my country the performance/price for them goes 265 > 270x > 270.
I'll recommend to keep an eye on eBay as well. Lots of people has been changing their GPU to get a GTX970.
For a similar reason, unless you are in a hurry (and you sound like you are), you could wait for the GTX960 to come out. I recon it'll noticeably push the prices of all the mid-range GPUs down.

i recommend r9 270x but if you can afford more, you can go for 280 or 290
you should have a look here
Also this chart might help you as well.
I had xfx dual fan hd 6850 too then i had to change now i have sapphire 7850 almost all games run fine, but my rig failed on ac unity. it might be game's problem too since lots of people have problems with that game ^^

This one I just burnt was Saphire, and being my first GPU failure, my trust for them has really gone down.

GPU all depends on what your playing and plan to play
do not get more then you will ever need keep that in mind
if you play games like TF2,L4D,BF3,and son on then you do not need a powerful card,it also depends on how you want to run said games
the 270 is still a decent card for most gaming at 1080p
the 280 is also a fine choice, but if you going any bigger then that i have to say get Nvidia due to the better price to performance ration as the 290 is not the best choice in that class
and unless the 270x is same as a 270 really not worth the extra cost for the very little gain you will get in gaming not worth the premium
as fr as waiting for black friday that is fine as long as you can go that long without gaming but also keep in mine it will be hit and miss as to what may or may not be on sale and at what price so might get lucky and find like a 280 for the around the price of a 270
i got a used 7950 awhile back that had 2 years warranty left on ebay for 139 so you could go that route
none the less if you game in 1080p and do not care about having things maxed as possible you will do fine in your choice
MSI,GIGABYTE go by serial # for warranty unless you have proper sales slip so keep that in mind as sometimes that makes it easier to sell later or if you decide to upgrade plus i find it easier to use the serial #
anyhow i have used MSI and had to use warranty with serail # and had no issues got a card back that over clocked better then the one i had lol,now i am using an Gigabyte card and have had no issues have nto used Asus before so do not know if they are good or not
good luck and happy gaming
and here is a tip if you can buy a used cheap video card as a backup so at least you will not be totally without a video card next time and will not be in such a rush or need to get one ASAP

Thanks for your answer ! I mostly play very demanding games and max them out, but I have a small 1280x1024 monitor (yeah, 5:4 fan) and that compensates for the performance. On the 6850 I could run Crysis 3 on High-Ultra settings with a solid 40 fps, so I guess the new 270 will be quite an overkill. I am quite tempted by the Gigabyte version rather than the MSI, as the shop I want to buy it from offers a coupon for AMD Gold Rewards as a bonus, and it is also about 20$ cheaper than its MSI/ASUS counterparts.

If you were buying an Nvidia card, I'd suggest buying from EVGA. Once you buy one of their cards, they'll take good care of you. For AMD cards, however, I'm less certain. Go for reliability over saving a few bucks. You want a manufacturer who will give you great support.

Take the one with the better guarantee conditions out of those three.
Comment has been collapsed.
dont even think about GigaByte ......(they may have best longest guarantee but when you take your card to them tey will replace it with a Refurbished one and in very very rare cases they give you a new one)
id say get the Asus one tough MSi cards are good too...
if your going to buy a used card you need to be very careful cause the card maybe a repaired one with BGA machine that may work for sometime but after that it will get F*cked....

Actually all 3 versions I found have the same 3-year warranty. At first sight the Gigabyte one seems to have the biggest/best cooling system though.
Comment has been collapsed.
biggest>>> maybe...
but the best??? ho says it has the best cooling system??? gigabyte itself???
i had 2 5870s with their custom made cooling systems and both are trash now....
right now i have a Asus r9 270x 4GB custom cooling etc.... an its working like a champ....
in case of 270 i highly recommend you to not going with stock cooling design ....MSi Asus etc. anything except stock cooling system....

Well, yesterday was a bad day. My PC has failed me for the first time, and did it the hard way - my 6850 is toasted (fan stopped while I was playing BF3 and I did not notice it for 3 hours, and when I was about to exit the image went rainbows ... and the rest is silence). So, I find myself in need of a new GPU. I am thinking of getting the R9 270, seems like a noticeable upgrade for a decent price.
Do you think there are better options out there? Also, what good games from my Steam library can be played on an integrated card with 256mb of shared memory?
Thanks in advance !
EDIT : I cannot take this much longer ! In 24h I MUST ORDER a new card or I will go nuts ! Analysed the prices in my country and spoke to a few qualified people, and I am probably getting what I wanted, the R9 270, but I have to decide between the ASUS, the MSI and the GIGABYTE version... I am pretty much clueless now. HELP !
