oh god, that was my first thought, but I just couldn't remember this location! Should have believed in my instinct

And another minor clue: in this game the character you're playing can fully traverse this little place. So it's not just some random scenery in the background. Although, I'd say going through this place is nothing special at all ;)

Correct! 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6
Odd thing I found, while trying to post the last image, is that this game looks way too close of a copy of a game that released to early access around a year prior, by a completely different dev/publisher.

Video of that puzzle thing in Sneak Out vs the storefront image of Spooked Hide & Seek:

That's very weird, it does seem to be the same game, just with a small redesign for characters. Wonder if there is some explanation on steam community forums or if anyone else notices

I've seen that background before, think it may have even been in this thread.
Can't for the life of me remember what it was though.

Good guess, but no.
I'll add a 2nd image in a few minutes.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sorry, no. Will add another hint or image shortly.

I'll try something a bit more forgotten like Mortyr?
Comment has been collapsed.
The first pic made me think of Day of Defeat, then the second and third threw that theory in the bin :))
At this point I'm just going through all the old ww2 games I've played over the years
Comment has been collapsed.
Not Mortyr, but thanks for introducing me to the game. Never heard of it, and it sounds kinda cool.
I've added one more hint.
Comment has been collapsed.
2003, hmmm, The Great Escape?
I still think I have a cd for it :)
PS: You are welcome for Mortyr.
Comment has been collapsed.
Going for another series then :)
Hidden & Dangerous 2, if its not this, I'm giving up. Can't really think of any ww2 from 2003ish that might fit the criteria.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, man. When I said "correct time period," I meant that the game takes place during World War 2. I should have been more specific. Why the hell didn't I notice that? My bad.
So yeah, take 2003 out of the equation.

Gonna try something different based on vibes
Nancy Drew? (Don't even ask which 1)

I don't have a good guess, but feel compelled to say that Dartboard is not at regulation height.
So it is either a kids room, or the artist responsible for placing the level assets fucked up.
Comment has been collapsed.
No guesses right now, but the contrast of it being realistic in some screenshots and cartoony in others is disturbing

I doubt its this, but well, here goes nothing : Sherk?

I guess I don't know my adventure games....something from The Longest Journey series?

Is that an inspired guess for a game I have never even heard of, or did you image match it?
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, I recognized this almost instantly because I've spent countless hours in my childhood NOT beating this game. I actually had to look up some gameplay footage again because I was only 99% sure it's this game, but then I found the key part that matched it and it was unironically that lock on the door which gave it away.
This game was made by a company in my country. I remember there was such a commercial thing going on with a "We cAn MaKe GrEaT gAmEs, tOo, yOu KnOw?" vibe. They praised this game way too much for what it actually was. Like 2 to 4 years ago, I tried beating this game again and ended up dropping it not because it was so difficult but because it wanted me to grind the hell out of the rest of the game. It was dragging on for no real reason.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh well done then.
It's nice when such a nondescript looking screenshot find its perfect target audience.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh yeah, tried again a year ago, the grind in the end is punishing, around the fire rune in forest and endgame part i think, because you could suddenly need to lvl up a lot of fairies you haven't trained before A LOT
I just cheated level ups from console menu at that point to get to the ending
Comment has been collapsed.
Exactly this was the part that made me quit lol...
I leveled up 3 to 4 of my fairies to 60 and still got destroyed by the fire fairies. The trick is to get some ice fairies from the mountain, I think. But yeah, that didn't feel like it would be worth it. Maybe I'll try in another 10 years :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, it is. But it's the 3D Ultra Radio Control Racers Deluxe version. (Not that I know if there's any differences in these versions or if there's at least more than one version of this game lol)

Oh my god, Funk Flitzer! This was distributed as freeware on the included disc in a German PC gaming magazine back in the day! So many fond memories..

I remembered seeing a little of it after new one was announced...ot maybe it was some other ant game, there seems to have been a few of them in the last couple of years

I wasn't sure if it's a true 2D game, or a 3D-ish with a 2D background, but the lock sign (that may be a UI element, or part of the poster?) reminded me the game, as I played some of it way too long ago - and that made the art style click as well :)

Correct!
I was expecting it to take longer, what gave it away?

A faaar from first image on some reverse image search site had similar snowy trees on a different stage of the game.

Watch Dogs 2
Reverse image search was useless for this one.

Correct!
I didn't think anyone would get it from the first hint given how vague it is.. did you hack my computer or something? lol
Comment has been collapsed.
Watch_Dogs 2 or Driver: San Francisco would have been my two go to guesses.
Just a bit too location specific that sign.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah, I see..
By hint I meant the image itself, I've seen people caption it that previously
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah, you mean the tool-tips. I wouldn't call the actual word "hint" a hint, as it hints at nothing.
While I'm usually filling it with ordered numbers, I like the ones where people fill some amusing description for the image (Murray / Shrek's abode), or send you on a goose chase :D
I wonder if GeekDoesStuff (who I'm guessing you took the habit from) has it copy/pasted from somewhere, constantly forgetting to replace the "hintx" tool-tips with some other text, or teaches us to ignore the hints, so that nobody will even try to look at it... until dropping a megahint which will go unnoticed :D
Comment has been collapsed.
oh, no, I just learned formating for website recently and write it by hand, hint1 ulr,hint2 url.
For some reason just never occured to me to give some description hint as well, even tho I'm aware i can change that. Or maybe I was being lazy with no ideas.
Will try to come up with something next time!

Good guess! Can clearly see elements of that, but pretty sure UI doesn't match completely(

Third one really confused me, let's just say something like Saint's Row for the sake of guessing

What is a boogaloo?
The Electric Boogaloo is a dance style that became meme-ified to denote crazy sequels, as popularized by the 1984 film Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. While we are not break dance battling here, it is kind of like a screenshot battle and hence, the "screenshot boogaloo".
