Well, first, although I did not enjoy Civ III, I totally loved Civ IV, though this was before I even had Steam (or internet actually) so you wont find it on my Steam and it's one of my favorite games.
I've tried Civ V and it's even better than the previous. I'm a poor guy, crisis been affecting my wallet and probably cannot afford anymore games till my birthday or Christmas (They are both basically on the same time, 26th December). And yes, if you check it, you'll see I have Civ V in my wishlist for a couple months now.

Haha, yeah, Civ III wasn't very newbie friendly. I first got the game many years ago while in Middle School. The School Library had it for sale during some book fair thing so I bought it cause I thought it looked interesting, but I could never properly figure it out until years later when I got into High School.
Also, you've probably got one of the worst timed birthdays ever. Since Christmas is literally right next to you, I'd imagine birthday would be fairly awkward :P

Oh yes, the many "This is your Christmas and birthday present!", "Aunt... this is a Christmas chocolate calendar, till yesterday." (That's actually a true story). Not much problem now, Portugal is in such a miserable state nobody except my parents and grandma give me presents anymore(And some lovely friends on Steam).
I may try Civ III again one of these days, I think it's still around my father's games.

I really want it, but I don't deserve it more than the next guy. I won't play the "I'm poor and need free things" card either. My account has quite a lot of games but I have wanted Civ V for a long time. I am really into games like Civ where it is a mixture of RTS and Tower Defense sort of.

Maybe I'll send you some Christmas cookies this year. :p
I usually always make chocolate chip, peanut butter cookies, sugar cookies and something with nuts in it (occasionally chocolate chip, macadamia nut or peanut butter, almond cookies)

I've been a huge fan of strategy games for longer than most of the users of Steamgifts (and probably Steam) have been alive (25+ years).
I've also been a huge fan of Sid Meier's games for as long as I can remember, some of my favorites have been, Pirates! (I currently only have it for the PSP) and Civilization I & III (I have III on Steam). I've played quite a few of his other games as well, Alpha Centauri is quite good.
I'd love to try my hand at Civ V now.
Thanks.

Now i don't deserve it i really don't. i have tons of steam games But i am a strategy fan i used to play age of empires 1 and 2 a couple years back and 3 they were the most fun i had and that's what made me a Pc gamer today. I would like a new strategy game that i can sink my time and and have Fun. I've been wanting a new strategy game in a while and i think Civ5 should do it thanks for reading this like i said i don't deserve this but it would be nice if i got it.

I have been interested in the Civ games for a while, I am a mad fan of stratergy games but mainly the total war series, yes it does appear that on my profile I only have Empire total War but that is because I bought Rome Total War in the box and the rest of the games in the Anthology pack. I enjoyed Rome so much I gave my spare copy away to my friend.
Yoy may now ask, well if you love stratergy games why haven't you gone and bought Civ 5? Well here's why. I have been in China for the past year havent been able to top up my Steam account balance, therofere I have been buying lots of smaller indie games, and also many games here are blocked on the China store and if paying with a Chinese credit card is quite restricted, thus ensuring the only way I can get some games are through gifts or asking mates back home.
Would love it if you considered my proposal and I will try to think of something exciting to convince you further. Thanks for the opportunity

But it can be fun too in rare occasions! I have the non-violent version of Team Fortress 2 you get in Germany. At first I did not like the fact people explode into pieces like rubber ducks and cogs but than I found many people in the world would rather like thr rubber duck version of the game but are stuck with the violent one :D

There is one? I have to have a look at it...
...but as I said in TF2 only the poeple screwed over by the non-violence-crap will finally have something everyone else wants :)
There is a game they originally had dead people lying around with blood but since some countries would give them trouble they had the idea to just create those crime scene chalk surroundings and people liked it that much that there are no dead bodies lying around in any version - can't remember which one it was, though.

I'm a big fan of real-time and turn-based strategy games and have loved games like Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, Starcraft, Warcraft III, and Civilization since I was about ten years old. Most of my time has been spent playing the Age of Empires series, though. I was so excited to finally find a used copy of Age of Empires I at Goodwill for $2 one fateful day and from that point onward my life was changed forever. After that I bought Age of Empires II (several times, actually) and it has been my favorite strategy game since I was about 12 years old. I didn't like AoE III as much as the previous two but it was still pretty fun and a great way for me to relive some of my favorite memories of my childhood. I haven't actually tried to play Civilization since Civ II (and I was pretty young so it didn't make a lot of sense to me) but my favorite college professor is obsessed with Civ III and my girlfriend loves Civ IV so I figured I should try out the series again and see just how much it's improved in the last decade!
I've also had Civ V on my wishlist for awhile now, I just haven't really had the $30 to spend on it what with paying for college and all. I also have claimed all two of the games I've won on SteamGifts and not regifted any of them.
Anyway, thanks for your consideration and regardless of who wins I think this is a really cool thing of you to do and I'm glad that there are generous people like you still out there! :)

I'm really excited for the Christmas sale (my wallet's still recovering from the summer one lol) and I'd definitely pick up a big Civ bundle if I saw one, that sounds amazing! Normally I give away any extra giftable games to my girlfriend or sister (since they have a mere fraction of the number of Steam games I do) but SteamGifts will always be my next stop after them! :)

THIS IS THE STORY OF A DAY WHERE THERE WAS ALL THIS BLOOD. A MAN WHO DIDNT GIVE ME A GAME WAS WALKING AROUND AND BLOOD STARTED COMING OUT OF HIM EVERYWHERE. THERE WAS SO MUCH BLOOD THAT IT FILLED UP AN ELEVATOR. HE WENT TO THE STORE AND THERE WAS JUST BLOOD ALL OVER THE PLACE! PEOPLE WERE SLIPPING IN IT AND THEY WERE ALL GROSSED OUT. HE TRIED TO GO SWIMMING AND ALL OF THE SHARKS WENT NUTS AND BITTENED EVERYBODY. HE GOT CHASED BY ALL THE VAMPIRES EVER. ONE TIME THE BLOOD GOT A KID AND A DOG. AT THE END OF THE DAY EVERYONE DECIDED THEY WOULD SEND HIM TO SPACE SO THAT HE WOULD STOP GETTING BLOOD EVERY WHERE. THE SCARIEST PART IS THAT THE MAN WAS YOU!!! (OR HE WAS A LADY IF YOU ARE A LADY) AND YOU FORGOT THAT THIS HAPPENED.
YOU SHOULD GIVE ME THE GAME BECAUSE I TOLD YOU THIS SO IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN TO YOU. I AM A GOOD MAN AND BELIEVE IN RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP AND ALL TYEPS OF WEIRD SHIT LIKE THAT

if it happened to him and he forgot it, how could it not happen to him when he gives you the game as it has already happened?

I am a fan of strategic games. A game that introduced me to the genre was Fire Emblem. I think that this game will be worth the time well spent.

I don't deserve it, but my roommate has been wanting it desperately. Both of us have been entering giveaways for it for a while now, trying to get it for him. He's an RTS nut with a disturbing affection for Civ and Command&Conquer games.
So, being the good friend I am, I'm posting for him.

You can definitely take it up with the admins/mods. If you're alluding to the no begging rule then I have this to say: Begging is the act of asking for something. I'm the one asking everyone else to tell me why they deserve it. There is a difference.
At any rate, I didn't mean to upset anyone, so I am sorry for that :<

Okay, I'm actually not really a fan of such games. But my girlfriend is, and I'm on a crusade to fix her gaming habits. Civ V would be a very powerful weapon against the evil of Social Gaming. You'd be doing great good in reducing the facebook playerbase of EA.

It's over, thanks so much for all your responses, was fun reading through them all. Grats to fbc123 for winning the giveaway I made for some of the most deserving entrants. I wish I had a copy for you all :(
Simple. I have an extra copy of Civilization V and have been unsure with what to do with it--until now. I'd like it to go to someone who will appreciate/enjoy it, so I want you all to tell me why you think that's you. You can write out a reason, sing a song, make a picture, I don't care. As long as you get your message across, it doesn't matter what you do
Having some played time in the older Civ titles or Civ like games on Steam will help your case. If it's apparent by your game library you are a fan of strategy/turn based strategy games that will also help your cause. Having this game on your wishlist before today's date (today being the day I posted this) will work in your favor, as well. There is no need to post this information, I'll take a look at that as well, unless your profile is private.
Whatever you have to post, post it here on this thread. Friending me on Steam won't help your chances, and in fact will most likely hurt your chances of 'winning'. At 11:59 EST October 20th (GMT -5) I'll start reading through all the posts, you can still submit something after that date, and so long as I haven't chosen a winner by the time you submit your entry I'll still examine your submission.
Just so we're all clear, this is a very subjective decision I'll be making, although I'll eliminate certain biases (I won't favor friends or people I know, at least consciously :P). The only other thing to note is that I refuse to choose a winner who has regifted wins or has not claimed wins from SteamGifts.
In the event that I'm unable to choose between entries, I'll make a private giveaway and invite all of those I think deserving but cannot choose between.
tl;dr In reply to this thread, tell me why you deserve Civ V (hint: reading the entire post shows me you are interested in getting the game)
