Thought for a moment and I couldn't come up with solid reason(s) why I would deserve to win that game over anybody else. I am interested trying a new Civilization game as the previous one I played was the third title. I still wouldn't define myself as a fan of series. Also, the number of unfinished titles in my library is still too big so demanding more games seems a bit greedy.

I definitely appreciate the honesty :>
E: Since it's going to be hard to pick just one person it has been suggested to do a giveaway for a handful of deserving people, interestingly enough you don't give yourself enough credit, at least in regards to what I look for. From what I hear, Civ 3 was one of the harder games to get into and you do seem to have a lot of time put into strategy games (definite more than the average). So don't be so fast to count yourself out, although again it's good to see you're being honest/modest.

I think i dont deserve it 3: This game is really awesome , and 1 game ( Match ) Is SO FREAKING LONG , it took me 7 hours to finish 1 level in CIV4 , This game is awesome , it has nice graphics ( For me ) And very nice gameplay . I freaking love strategys 3: . That would be very nice if you pick me :3
Thanks for chance and have a good day

Yeah, the first game I played, I wasn't sure what to expect. It sucked me in and when I finished, I looked at the clock and wondered how 6 hours had passed. I got Warlock - Master of the Arcane (a Civ like game) and I'm 7 or 8 hours into my first campaign and I don't think it's anywhere close to be finished, unless there is a time victory in it (which is possible, I haven't checked, I played it before Civ V and I hadn't played any Civ titles at that point).

I'm a huge Sid Meier fan. I remember playing Civ 2 A LOT with my friend at his house, when I was in high school. I've played quite a bit a Civ 3 and 4 as well. I originally bought them at retail, and I don't think I had 4 on steam for a while, although I don't remember for sure.. Would love a chance to get to play this new one. Not much else to say, other than Thanks!

I just don't understand when someone says he's a HUGE fan of something and yet doesn't even have all products of this company/developer.

You're right bro. My point is this word is kinda deteriorated now, when you click in social network "become a fan" button. If person likes something really much doesn't mean he's fan of it. Fans are supporting their thing, living thinking about it very often, sometimes obsessed with target of their idol. Not simple like the thing very much, but being a bit obsessed with it is what makes a fan.
And fbc123 says he's a HUGE fan. It just doesn't feel right, you know what i'm sayin'?

I have many friends that are really into Civilization V. They always play it together and leave me outside their gaming sessions since I don't have the game myself. So if I had this game, I could play it with them and I wouldn't have to feel so left alone while they are having so much fun :)

No, you better convince me that you are worthy enough to gift this petty game to me.

First thanks for opportunity to win this (hopefully) great game and good luck in judging (it will be tough for sure).
I love Civilization since first one (I still remember this starting intro). I remember playing it after school with my friends (this where times when few people was playing on one computer, and game was just a small break in spending time outside). After first Civ I was playing many similar games. Master of Magic (this was also funny intro) and Colonization (FreeCol -> remake) where this I can recommend everyone even this days. I've played also Alpha Centauri, Civilization 2 and 3 (but they weren't as good as first one). Now I'm looking forward for Elemental: Fallen Enchantress (check this out, if you like turn based strategy). It would be great to play once more such game as Civilization 5 and have some fun with friends.

I actually saw the Fallen Enchantress on the coming soon tab on the store, kind of curious how it will look when it's all polished off.
Also, gotta love game music from 1991 lol, cool videos though, I imagine they were good for their time (I wouldn't know, I was 2 and 5 respectively when they were released). I digged the earth with the dinosaurs standing around on the civ video :>

I have been trying to win it for ages, and i dont have the money to buy it, i never played any older version but lately i started to like strategy and simulation games and i heard this is one of the best

Strategy games in general and the Civ Series in particular have always captivated me, and taken lots of my spare time, starting with Civilization II, one of the greatest games ever made. On Steam, I only had the pleasure of playing the Civ 5 demo, immediately putting the game at the top of my wishlist on Dec 11, 2011. (well, right after Skyrim) :)
The lack of decent strategy games within my budget has led me toward f2p alternatives, like SC2 Starter edition, or just cheap older games, like Rome: Total War, which I promptly purchased for 1.00€, as soon as it was available.
I'd be extremely grateful for a chance to win it through a private giveaway. I'd be blown away if you chose to hand it to me with no giveaway, to the point of pledging to make a small giveaway in response, even if it's just a spare shadowgrounds key I've had laying around for a friend who doesn't want it.
Thank you very much for doing this, regardless of the outcome!

well: I played Age Of Empires II as my first game in my life, and i played it SO MUCH (like a year only :P). After this i played some other games, but now i'm in this strategy phase again and want to test out which strategie francise is best for me. Napoleon Total War is...Way too much strategy for my (in the fights...), Age of Empires III have changed (almost) nothing but the graphic, so that i know everything already from my exessive AoE II phase in my childhood. Tropico 1 and 2 were much fun, too and if they bring out another piratebased Tropico i will prepurchase it. Stronghold 3 is so lala... it has very much bugs, but the game itselve is very good. And the best yet is: Starcraft 2- cool graphics, cool online mode, long singleplayer and: very very very good custom made minigames (well, one "mini"game took me 6 hours once xD).
Now the last Strategy Franchise to test out is Civilization... Got to test it and to check wheter it is good for me or not. And I do not trust these money-hype concern which are "gametesters".
They broke my faith of independence when they tested the worst worst **** online game ever, where you have NO FREAKING CHANCE without cashing and even IF you cash, you have no chance, because there is always someone who cashs MORE than you. i mean: 20 euro a month for holding out 21 SHOTS! (or 3 headshots) Normal people hold out 3 shots (2 if the weapons are cashed). And the game"testers" said you do only have to cash if you want to have a nicer look. COME ON! and in the same week they published this "test" they made huge background commercial for that game...
So that's why i want to test Civ V.

StarCraft II is great, I'm sad I wasn't into anything other than MMOs when I was younger and didn't get a chance to play StarCraft and Brood Wars when they were still popular (although, I guess they still are :P). I haven't played many of the custom maps, only a few. The only one I really like is monobattles

I want civilization 5 to be able to play with my girlfriend mostly. I love strategy games and we've been playing my ancient copy of civilization 4 together (love how you used to be able to lan with 1 copy). Have been saving up spare entertainment money to buy 2 sets of civilization V + G&K but not quiet there yet. With this gift, it'll knock off 1/4 of what I have to save =).
You might be able to see from my profiles that of the few games I do own on steam, are mostly 4x games such as a total war and Crusader kings 2. I also own the older civilization games off steam as well as most of paradox titles (non-steam), other total war games, as well as older turn based strategy like age of wonders. 4x games are pretty much all I play besides dota. Don't have many steam games because a uni student makes me way too poor and most of my games are from when I was younger and people gifted me hard copies.

I am getting divorced, but it takes ages as paperwork has to be ordered from other countries I worked in and I did not bother to take care of it earlier. My girlfriend I had since 9 months left me yesterday. The house I am building takes already two years and is eating up my money. And in my job I don't even know where I will be next week - to put it plain: My life is a mess and pure chaos - at least in Civilization V I could pretend I have a little control over things.

I can't say I deserve Civ5 more like i want it. I'm a really big fan of Strategy Games, Turn Based and RTS are probably my biggest under the genre, dating back to when I played Advance Wars 2 as a child must've been almost 10 years ago. AW2 was what got me started on Turn Based games, i still play it though my GBA is dead and gone i still use an emulator. Risk too for that matter (board games were always a fave of mine, gotta love chess and monopoly)
Homeworld 2 was my first RTS game, loved it, i'm a huge sci-fi fan, i love star wars and star trek (pretty much everything with star lol)
i'm not sure what else to say, just that i'm a huge fan of the strategy genre and would like to play/try out this game.
Thanks for reading the comment, and i hope who ever wins it truly deserves it :D

Out of curiosity (this has nothing to do with this giveaway), if you like sci-fi and RTS have you ever played any StarCraft or Dawn of War? Seems like they would be up your alley and something to try if you ever find them on sale and want something new to try

I have Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, love the game, but i don't have it on steam aha. I have played the first Starcraft but sadly i don't own either of them. I used to watch Commentaries of SC:II back when it first came out, it was a joy to watch. And Now I have a laptop capable of running it, probably not at the best looking quality, but a games not all about looks here

It's over, thanks so much for all your responses, was fun reading through them all. Grats to fbc123 for winning the giveaway I made for some of the most deserving entrants. I wish I had a copy for you all :(
Simple. I have an extra copy of Civilization V and have been unsure with what to do with it--until now. I'd like it to go to someone who will appreciate/enjoy it, so I want you all to tell me why you think that's you. You can write out a reason, sing a song, make a picture, I don't care. As long as you get your message across, it doesn't matter what you do
Having some played time in the older Civ titles or Civ like games on Steam will help your case. If it's apparent by your game library you are a fan of strategy/turn based strategy games that will also help your cause. Having this game on your wishlist before today's date (today being the day I posted this) will work in your favor, as well. There is no need to post this information, I'll take a look at that as well, unless your profile is private.
Whatever you have to post, post it here on this thread. Friending me on Steam won't help your chances, and in fact will most likely hurt your chances of 'winning'. At 11:59 EST October 20th (GMT -5) I'll start reading through all the posts, you can still submit something after that date, and so long as I haven't chosen a winner by the time you submit your entry I'll still examine your submission.
Just so we're all clear, this is a very subjective decision I'll be making, although I'll eliminate certain biases (I won't favor friends or people I know, at least consciously :P). The only other thing to note is that I refuse to choose a winner who has regifted wins or has not claimed wins from SteamGifts.
In the event that I'm unable to choose between entries, I'll make a private giveaway and invite all of those I think deserving but cannot choose between.
tl;dr In reply to this thread, tell me why you deserve Civ V (hint: reading the entire post shows me you are interested in getting the game)
