Those that actually take the time to be courteous and offer a simple thank you after winning one of my giveaways (after all you don't accept things from your real life family and friends without saying "Thank you") should slowly be finding themselves onto my whitelist (which includes bigger games that are not bundled).

Just need to go through the list again to see who won and who actually bothered to say "Thank you" after winning.

Going forward - for those that that don't have the common decency to say "Thanks" after obtaining a key. Well it is into the big black hole of oblivion for you known as the blacklist I am afraid. Every gift I have won on this site so far it's taken me all of two seconds to simply just post a little message of thank you on the giveway profile letting the person know I appreciate the gesture. I can't beleive so many people find this difficult. Or perhaps it's just the care since the got the key already.

I just cannot abide bad manners! I would rather the same people win over and over again who I know appreciate their wins rather than some internet douche who appears to have been brought up in a cave!

Open sesame - Thanks and simple appreciation

Mhm, this started to happen way too often recently. If someone treats me like automated game dispenser, I play along and send back "EAccessDenied" message

it's the old discuss again. I think "ow, thanks, i really appreciate your time and your giveaway". even if i dont win. BUT, seems like most people blacklist those who says thanks in any circunstances, and the other part blacklist those who doesnt say. So im gonna save you time and blacklist before you blacklist me for saying the truth in everyone faces like something that nobody would like in the face.

What rubbish are you talking - who is gonna blacklist a person for saying thank you because they won? Are you on drugs by any chance?

He is referring to people who post "Thank you for the giveaway" and not "Thank you for the win"

Those are two separate arguments. I can see some highly strung people (lord knows they should just calm the fuck down) getting their tits in a tangle over people posting "TY" for the giveaway but I can't see anyone blacklisting someone for actually saying Thank you for winning. Its just common courtesy.

¯_(ツ)_/¯
I totally agree
But, who knows if the GA owner can see who are saying thanks for the GA or for winning. If it's a gift i say thanks at steam. Otherwise i dont say a word, or i'm about 80% sure that i'll be blacklisted by somekind of script that do it auto =/

you are confusing gratitude and spam, most people blacklist for saying thanks because users ignore GA descriptions or because they post the same message all the time and it looks like a script (enter and autoreply).

there should never be a problem to say thanks to a GA creator after you win, either on the giveaway or contacting via steam.
of course if there's a problem, that person is dumb and should be ignored. :3

I don't blacklist (as I don't even check) those who don't thank me after winning. Back in the day when I used to give all games in Steam chat, I would blacklist the ones who didn't thank me. It felt more personal. For me, rule breaking is a much more severe offense.

I just can't stand the people who takes everything as granted, like it's our job to give away games for free =( Since I'm usually trying to find something interesting for the GAs, not the leftovers, I'm more inclined to the WL or Groups - people who would appreciate the gift. Most of the people in my blacklist were the voiceless winners.

I wasn't blacklisting people for that but I am getting increasingly fed up with thankless winner, I am thinking about starting. You're right a little gratitude goes a long way...

Though this was fitting to this thread, made a level 4 GA yesterday. The winner never said thanks, but then I got curious looked on his profile, he won over 100 games, of course I didn't look at all of them, but looked at the first 20 and not once did he said thanks to the creator for winning. I am speechless...

What about people that don't thank via GA page? I have either send a thanks via email if its an email link that im getting, or even adding the user to steam and thanking them over the chat before, how are you going to judge whether people have done either of those things for example?

I use SG++ and if a winner thanks me through email or Steam, I add a custom tag for them so that when I'm checking the winners, I know that they thanked me somewhere else.

that thank you is like the facebook buttons, its okay if you think it is good for you a 2 sec "thankyou" but... LOL
:D
imho its a good think but not a req

another thing for ppl with too much time

(edit: that "button" ppl was better, you think? sad)
(giving is about giving not about judging, but okay)
(then you go to the homeless for.. "what about my 20 cents" :DD)
(I say a big thankyou for all of your things. maybe its good for you)

Nobody said anything about judging.

Personally I couldn't care less if the person is as poor as a church mouse or rich as a Count. Its the fact that you don't go through your day to day life not saying please and thank you to people around you so why should the internet be any different.

I do the same. I mean, I don't whitelist all the winners who say "thanks", but I blacklist all the ones who don't.

I always say thanks and I always mean it! As a giveaway creator, when you are dealing with a winner directly, you know if they show you their appreciation in one way or another, however please keep in mind that when we are looking at the giveaways of other creators and we don't find "thank you" message from the winners in the comments on the giveaway page, it doesn't necessarily mean they did not say "thank you" or did not show their appreciation in different form. If you look at my profile and check giveaways that I won, you will find one that actually I didn't say "thank you" in the comments on the giveaway page, but I can assure you that it was a case where the creator contacted winners through Steam directly and I actually said "thank you" to him through Steam chat. This is something to consider when you're wondering why this or that user did not say "thank you" after winning a giveaway.

if someone say thanks you recive the notification about it. In a "good" giveaway it can happens more then 1000x times. All this "thanks" you see as a diffirent notification and cant shut them down. If you make more then only giveaways on the site, for example trade something also, you wouldnt be able to see the notification about the trade offer. Thats why its better dont to say anything if its not really important. And if you want to say thanks for the win, just say more then only "thanks".

I say thanks in private message when receiving key or gift. At least I used to before this new key system. Don't see a point to say thanks in giveaway page afterwards.

If someone does post something or not in one of my giveaways that's totally ok for me either way but I do like that the winner does take the time to post thank you as I do the same when I win a gift. For some on SG (and not always new users) it's must be very difficult to post thank you after they got their win.
