Is it?
Maybe some mods can shift their primary task to re-rolls?

Yes.
We had 3 support members. For years.
Then CG added bunch of people as support members, and promoted now-support for moderators.
After few months all new-support members were promoted into moderators, and most of old-moderators were promoted to super mods.
That's why we don't have support members, as they get promoted. And now lowest-tier position there is empty.

I already know that by being active daily. The thing is that you said that only moderators can deal with those reports, well there are only moderators anyway :D
After all, more support members are needed in order to deal with the minor reports (rerolls, not activated etc.) so that Moderators will be able to focus on those User Reports. And to be honest with you, I don't see Moderators being able to deal with those User Reports no matter how many of them we get.

Oh ok :D
Yeah, that's why we need support. To deal with rerolls and so like, so that moderators will have less work and will be able to close user report. We had really active moderator that did this, but since they are gone users report pile up again.
And dent was huge, I think there were around 23 - 24k user tickets. So like 6k are closed. Sometimes there are few tickets for one user, so when moderator check they close all other tickets as well. That's why it's not always "1 check 1 ticket down" case.

I'm still seeing user reports and re rolls being processed. But it has slowed down a little. There is room for at least one more mod as one of the newer mods is no longer active.

When and why did Pete leave? I've been so busy in my own little world I didn't even know :(

I agree, I need to pull my head out of the sand more often... :/

See what you guys did to him with all your reroll requests!? Now he's gone! :P
(I don't actually know why he left)

I can't help it, Im an ass like that. Equal opportunity annoyer and it was his turn :P
I'll miss him, hope he returns one day.

i think that's one of the problems they have. so many old tickets. too many to take care of them all. maybe you should go through your tickets and see if the old ones are really still necessary (they are probably not).
happy cakeday ^^

my opinion on this is: let them be. it's been two years. that is like 20 real life years, and for most crimes you don't get punished anymore after such a long time. see it like this: if you close some old tickets, you might achieve that more newer tickets get taken care off. :)

Not surprised. In addition to reselling and retrading the gifts won here, I have across more weird cases since Steam made it possible to "delete" games from your account.
Some people do it after they are done with the game and don't want to see it in their library anymore.
Another common reason are the booster pack drops: by removing cheap games from the account, then you get booster packs for the better more expensive games in your library.
These guys seem really surprised to get suspended on SG and then they learn that deleting games from Steam account isn't compatible with SG rules.

Yeah, they deleted additional 10 or 15 games after they were banned. But no one knows how long they were able to operate like this. Win - farm - delete.
But they don't care about rules, as it'd be enough to restore those games to be able to participate in the site again. So meh.

The people deleting games would be the minority. Most are just trying to regift, sell or use them on another account.
Another common reason are the booster pack drops: by removing cheap games from the account, then you get booster packs for the better more expensive games in your library.
Booster packs are generated for games that other people craft badges for in order to replenish the cards available for that game in the system. Deleting "trash" games won't improve the odds.

i am not talking about such extreme cases. but if someone made one or two mistakes years ago - who cares. closing these old tickets might be a way to get faster support in the future.

Happy Cake day!
(this will make sense in 304 days from now)

I would imagine new staff quickly become burned out. It's a thankless job with little incentive. I'd never do it.
Those that do are saints.

So... who is going to be the sacrificial lamb ?

That's so true but new SG support members are only chosen by CG and the other support members.

Yeah I've actually stopped checking my winners because reroll tickets were pending for a too long time. So more mods would be nice

And you'll have to wait a lot longer about Tumblestone. Sadly that game is rather problematic because the developer was giving away free Trial versions that can't be distinguished from the full version. Basically it can't be added back and if it ever does it will be as a free game.
I'm also still sitting on my key from the Humble Monthly and don't know what to do with it :(

Yeah, I know. I just wanted to point it out since I personally wouldn't give away a Humble Monthly game if it counts as a free game.
But now that the option to give away free games exists they might actually put it back on the list.

PeteOzzy's efficency spoiled us. The guy was re-rolling stuff 24/7. He once re-rolled my GA in less than a minutes at 4 a.m. It felt that he was doing most of the work. I miss, Pete. Besides being the best support, he was a great guy all around.

I once created 5 re-roll tickets at the same time during holidays and when they were being like instantly processed i felt bad for the guy doing work i created for him, but he was super cool, no hard feelings, even jesting about it and thanking me for creating tickets. Truly one of a kind!

PeteOzzy.was unique and the best support member ever.
And we need separate support only giveaways to lure them.

There's always need for support. I actually could imagine helping out with handling tickets since I'm doing that kind of stuff at work as well but guess I'll have to wait for the next recruitment (also to see possible requirements) ;)

Agree with this one. Had a reroll for a GA, approved within couple of hours. Had to request another reroll as the next person also owned it already... Somehow that one is still pending a couple days now (I know it's not the worst, but just kinda weird)
If new support/mods are needed, I wouldn't mind to be one (focussed on rerolls/other GA-related stuff) hint hint :p
30-60 mins a day doing this stuff would already clear a lot of the tickets. Have the idea most mods (focussed on GA stuff) here are only able to do it once a week or so

Pete was definitely one of the best. Still remember those 5/6 hours straight sittings when we were checking all the winners :D After he left due to real life issues, the support pretty much died, when it comes to fast responses. Back then tickets were answered in about 1 hour at most, while now it takes over a day or so. Guess it's time for some fresh blood :D More support staff equals faster responses, so i guess it's win-win scenario :P

Same. I'm getting "not received" feedback now because the rerolls are taking too long :/

Would it be smart if the giveaway creator can choose to re-roll without moderation, to make the work load for the mods lower? I understand that it needs some moderation now, so maybe only being able to re-roll X times in a month, or only if you've reached a certain level?
Comment has been collapsed.
No offense, but I rather wait 6 days until support can make a reroll on such easy situations like someone having unactivated win / being less than 1 month after it (public info, 100% that it will be rerolled) than introducing a system that allows to make rerolls because just not liking the winner. It would decrease the importance of the rules, and that's not good.
Comment has been collapsed.
For me, it should be the winner and giveaway creator both agreeing to this. If the winner accidently makes a mistake and the game gets given to someone else by accident, it would require more moderation to sort out the mess.

Pardon me if I'm not concerned about Trump having to wait on getting himself another yacht, because it's busy being used to provide food to people- US citizens to which he has a responsibility to provide care for- to ensure they don't have to worry about going without. Nevermind that his refusal to adequately provide such categorizes as a human rights violation. More than one, in fact.
if people are deprived of access to food for reasons beyond their control [..] after natural disasters, the right requires the government to provide food directly.
Not that the United States has ever been particularly keen on abiding by UN conventions*.

I am kinda getting flashbacks to the era when support was reduced to one active person here with reroll wait times. Considering that the site stats show that support requests are still flooding continuously each month, maybe the team is still not as strong as the tide dictates…?
