What are your favourite RPG games?

Mass Effect series, Gothic series and Dark Souls.

The Witcher & The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings (ALL TIME FAVORITE), 1st game would be slow paced & tricky on the controls initially untill u learn the flow. Both are Must play Rpg games. Some of the notable classic Rpgs I enjoyed are Lufia Series & Final Fantasy 1 - 6 and off course Shinning Force Series (love them all)

Blade and Sword (Daojian)

Skyrim of course! Not really rpg, rather Jrpg, but Chrono trigger too.

Fallout 3, Planescape: torment, TWEWY (kind of rpg)

Fallout 1, 2, 3, New Vegas, Planescape Torment, Arcanum of Magic and Obscura (#1 isometric rpg for me), Skyrim.
Also played a little bit with Morrowind and little more with Oblivion, not to mention numerous RPGs I've got from bundles, still waiting to be tried out :)

No RPG is perfect, but let's go...

Neverwinter Nights 1+2, BG1 + BG2 (Someone ported BG1 as an NWN2 mod and it's excellent...) Icewind Dale 1+2(more of a hack&slash than an RPG, but it's D&D so I'll allow it IWD1 was also ported to NWN2)... Let's go ahead and add all the rest of the D&D games (which are on sale on GOG every so often for ~$20, totally worth it.) Also, Dungeons and Dragons Online is still pretty goddamn good (Not a huge fan of Neverwinter, though).

Non D&Ds: Skyrim (and its copious mods), Oblivion, Mass Effects, Dragon Age.

I'm still trying to get over the voice acting in The Witcher, but I'm enjoying the story...

ARPGs would be Marvel Heroes, Diablo 1+2, Torchlight 1+2. Borderlands are close enough to RPGs that I can throw 'em here and not be totally wrong.

Dishonoured is pretty sweet.

Legend of Grimrock was fun for a few hours...

Okay, this list is now just getting out of hand, but you picked on my favourite genre of game, so... ;)

Fallout games, Planescape Torment, Divine Divinity, System Shock 2, Mother 3, TES IV: Oblivion, Demon's Soul, Dragon Age: Origins, The Witcher... And most of Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda games.

Persona 3 FES is my favorite game of all time, definitely the best RPG I've ever played, just about the whole Shin Megami Tensei series is great, definitely worth checking out.
The Tales of series is also pretty great, my favorites being Symphonia (just don't play the sequel) and Abyss. Great character development and fun gameplay.
Other great RPG series and games I've played are Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy 4,6,7,9 (8 was trash and never got around to 5), Bravely Default, Fallout 3+NV, Oblivion and Skyrim, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, and Golden Sun.

Diablo 2, spent thousands of hours with that, best RPG ever made.

my favourite is Fallout(3,NW), STALKER(SoC,CoP), Borderlands(1,2), The Elder Scrolls(3,4,5), Farcry(2,3) and Fable TLC.

I've been really getting into Ring Runner lately. It's pretty basic, but the story and combat are unbelievable. I can't wait to read the book(s).

Planescape: Torment (really should get an enhanced remake like Baldur's Gate), not just because it has awesome story with a lot of paths and several endings (where which ones you can get depends on how you played), but also because it gets the setting right. (No small feat, as the Planescape setting is really about how you think and act impacting the world around you.)
Knights of the Old Republic. (The MMO can disappear into a galaxy far,far away though - what I played of it was a buggy mess that was not at all designed to be conductive to multiplayer activity)

And Rise of the Triad, which has more RPGs than you can count on one hand.

i am disappointing but not surprised that JADE MOTHERFXXKING COCOON hasn't shown up on a list yet,
this was and still is one of the greatest games i have ever played, you can beat the main story within a very small amount of time ( my best is around 90ish minutes) but in total i have racked over 600 hours on the first game because of its re playability and its monster merging system(i have heard it being compared to shin megami tensi) and the infinite dungeon that unlocks after story end. The second one is fun too.

Also another oldie but goodie vagrant story, and of course grandia, yeah my childhood was mostly indoors

Legend of Heroes series, Ys series, Lost Odyssey, Shadow Hearts series, Xenosaga series, Arc the Lad series, Suikoden series, Golden Sun series, FF6, FF9, Tales of Eternia, Tales of the Abyss, Phantasy Star 4, and probably more that I'm forgetting now.

In no particular order:
