Is anyone getting it? I have it pre loaded and I am waiting for it to be released tomorrow.
Anyone planning on buying it who wants to play COOP?

EDIT:

If you are only here to bitch about EA or microtransactions, or to judge the game without playing it, please do not waste your time commenting. I am looking for a COOP partner, not opinions that cannot be backed up by personal experience.
If you have played the game, please tell me what you thought!

They did for me. I was sceptical about buying it. I do not care that they made it action, because Dead Space was never really scary, I just hoped it was lengthy and the microtransactions were not forced.

Let me know if you do get it. I doubt many others on here will, lol. No one likes Origin.

O: shh! Gabe might hear you!

I don't mind it either, in fact I've got DS1&2 there, but DS3 is too expensive to get it right now. Maybe on christmas? Wait for me! Heh.

Anyway, it bugs me that Origin does not have the level of integration that Steam has on its games. For example, Crysis (and I'm guessing all games pre-Origin) doesn't show the Origin interface when I press shift+f1 or whatever combination that is.

I've played a few hours, and there's been a few "shocker/scary" parts here and there, like dead space 1 and 2.

Not really scary though, I can agree with that.

TB almost seemed to be gushing over it, but the things he kept pointing out that were so cool were things that were in DS 1 and 2 (which he never played). So I wonder if DS3 feels fresh at all.

DS3 has a better port than DS1 and 2.

Also, Visceral made that statement about the games they develop. Not EA.

I'll wait for it to drop under $15 before I pick it up and play. I am curious though how the micro transactions will work, but I guess I'll find out more about that soon

TB did a "WTF is" on DS3, and said microtransactions do not feel forced. In fact, it seems as though there is barely any abundance to materials. Oh and someone found an exploit, lol.

TB also said he had only played 2 hours and said it may get worse later on.

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, but plenty of people said it doesn't. And like I said, there is an exploit to get unlimited resources. With the amount of health packs lying about on medium and easy, you can easily sell them for loot. And it isn't as hard to find things on those difficulties either.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Who says I want to play on medium or easy? And why would I want to use an exploit to get unlimited resources, that would ruin the entire game.

I am mentioning the exploit because it ruins the whole idea of microtransactions.

So? That's just another thing that ruins the game.

Well, that includes the microtransactions. So take away 3. Then you are left with pointless bot upgrades, take away another 3. Then there are 3 pointless suits, and 1 bundle back that includes them all, so take away 4, and there is 1 left over which I forgot. Quit bitching, almost every new game has day one DLC.

The game actually is pretty sweet. The story takes a while, but eventually kicks off, and the gameplay is nice.

Play the game before you start criticising it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I will probably buy it at some point anyway because i enjoy playing coop games.

but i still don't like the thought of supporting this kind of marketing strategy. i didn't even criticize the game :D
if the upgrades are "pointless" and ready for shipping BEFORE release, why don't give them for free in a fullpriced game?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, you aren't supporting the microtransactions and day one DLC unless you buy the DLC and make microtransaction purchases. They won't give them for free because they know some people have weird obsessions with cosmetic items.

You kinda criticised the game, lol, well the marketing at least.

Maybe... Lol. I wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my money. I mean, EA can do one. I wasn't gonna flush away my cash on a game with terrible gameplay and forced microtransactions. Of course I was wrong.

This was the first time I have actually pirated a game. Normally if I think a game will be terrible, I will just forget about it, but there have been so many mixed opinions about this.

I will rather preorder games from companies that I actually want to support, like CDPR with The Witcher 3. I'll pick up DS3 in like a year for seven bucks. I haven't even played the first two yet.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope. First and second games were fine, but third one is a straight port from console to pc (I think first two were as well but it doesn't matter now), it comes with a first day DLC and it got microtransactions....

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The first two were even worse ports. I remember getting prompts for an xbox controller than a keyboard and mouse. Plus I always had my desktop mouse showing in game rather than the actual games mouse cursor.

The microtransactions aren't needed. And Dead Space 2 also had day one DLC.

Its mainly the fact that its there that pisses people off. I'm not going to promote this game's business model.

Eh, they can try, but I honestly don't see any way to be scared when in voice chat with another human. It completely removes you from the experience. Even if the other person is into it like you are, the mere fact that you are not alone removes a lot of the horror elements

no, but he's looking for a co-op partner, so that's where I limited my criticism to. I have a lot more problems with DS3, but apparently OP doesn't want to get into that. So I won't.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, I never classed Dead Space as a horror game. I never found any of them to be particularly scary. DS3 seems to have a lot of back tracking, I dislike that in games, that is why I would like a co-op partner, to make them less boring.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Meh, action. Dead Space was never really scary.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It was an action/FPS with horror elements. It wasn't really scary, but I liked the horror elements mixed in. See my reply just above, but basically I feel the multiplayer kills the horror element, which was the major reason I liked the series.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Fair enough. But to be honest, if I wanted a horror game I would look towards system shock, amnesia, silent hill 2, etc.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yea, and that's where I go for my pure horror games, but Dead Space was a really nice shooter/horror mashup, which I also liked. But in DS3 it looks like they've gutted the horror element in regards to the multiplayer, so it's no longer a shooter/horror mashup, just a shooter. Which makes it less desirable.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The problem is that it ruins the tension if you know you can just pay to get more resources. I'd be fine with just cosmetic stuff like suits and sound packs, but selling resources is not a good thing.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

But... you don't have to buy them. If someone wants to pay to experience the game differently, that's their choice.

And obviously there are people that want to do this, because DLC does sell, and that's why it keeps getting included in games. There's a market for it. If DLC came out and no one bought it, devs would stop putting it in. It's OUR fault for buying and creating market demand. You can't fault them for catering to a market.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Microtransactions were in AC 3, no one bitched about it, ME3, I don't remember anyone bitching about it, hell BF3 and BF: BC 2, and no one bitched then either. Doesn't Fifa have microtransactions too? I may be wrong. With BF it wasn't so much microtransactions, but it is equal to what they are doing with DS3, unlocking everything with real cash.

And yes, people complain, but at the end of the day it is their fault for constantly buying it. Sure, not everyone does, but plenty of people bitch and then go against themselves.
