To my surprise, the first thing activated was "NVIDIA Portal: The First Slice", the demo for Portal that was given to Nvidia users, activated as a complimentary key on January 10th, 2008.

As far as I remember "Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days" was my first game on Steam.
