My first steam purchase was Amnesia: the Dark Descent on April 5, 2011.

I was late to the party with steam, only got it because I wanted to play Dota 2 in the beta. The first game I bought on steam was going to be the Half Life Complete pack along with Final Fantasy VII but due to a glitch my payment wasn't going through, I later ended up buying the Tomb Raider pack when it was 80% off. The first games I bought for Steam though (but not on steam) was the Humble Origin bundle.

Oh and besides the Dota2 Beta, my first steam game was Torchlight II, which was gifted because my friend bought a 4 pack and gave me one.

Counter-Strike: Source, Portal, Half-Life 2 in 2006 then until 2010 nothing more :P

Think it was the Half-Life Platinum Collection. IIRC it came out before Steam, but I registered it immediately when Steam came out and it shows on my account page as my first "purchase".

First game I bought on steam was The Orange Box in 2011, but I created account in 2010 to play Fallout: New Vegas.

That's when I made my Steam account. I'd avoided it for a number of years for a number of reasons, but I really wanted GTA. So, I caved. Now I have 250+ games and thousands invested in my account. I'm ridiculous.

The first game I purchased was Gratuitous Tank Battles, back when I didn't know that you're only supposed to buy games on sale. Although I was gifted Terraria before I bought GTB.

Commandos pack. The first game I bought that used steam was Half-Life 2, but Commandos was the first one I bought through steam. I think it was in some summer or winter sales.
