What happens when I check into youtube

Here's an article

So, Bioware decided to take out an extremely important piece of content from the game, and made into a $10 DLC which will supposedly be available on launch day.

The sad part is that they think its totally fine to do this, as if its acceptable for their customers to buy an incomplete game.

Oh, and there are spoilers.

DOUBLE NEGATIVE!

Sydney Morgenbesser once attended the release of someones thesis on how double negatives make a positive in many language, but in no language does a double positive make a negative.

"Yeah, right." Morgenbesser ejaculated.

DLC at release always seemed like bs to me. If it's ready before release it should be in the fucking game. I always hoped DLC would lead to an age of continued development for a game, long passed release. And, it has. It really has, but, at a cost. Not the price of the DLC, I consider the "cost" the use or release DLC that is necessary to the story.

I found information, that owners of pre-ordered collectors edition of ME3 will get it for free. Anyone know something about this?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, this is true. It is also said that it will be available for the Deluxe Edition for PC as well, since PC doesn't have the Collector's edition (at least as far as I know).

It's still unacceptable that it doesn't even come with the regular game, though. I guess I know what I'll be using the Amazon $10 promotion for...

I actually cancelled my preorder for PC version. I'll wait until it hit bargain prices since I have a gigantic backlog to begin with. Although I'm sure EA/Bioware won't take a large enough sales hit in order to wake them up. I'm sure the general population will reach the breaking point eventually with all of this DLC bullshit.

Paying $60 for a digital copy of the game when EA is using no middlemen doesn't make sense, its a complete rip off.

For comparison's sake, Portal 2 was a $45 preorder, and you got a giftable copy of Portal for free.

This is just one reason among many.

My grudge with Origin; their store is flawed to the point of being useless. I can't even access the real store; I get redirected to a translated version because I live in a different country.

That includes game titles. Nothing better to turn you off from a store than having to use google to find out which game you're looking at. =)

Addendum: And the mass effect 3 preorder is at 79 bucks here. 105 bucks for the digital deluxe version. Because digital copies made a big part of the market because they cut out production costs and middlemen so they could sell the game cheaper. nods

Well, the day 1 DLC is a bit sad, but what's the "EXTREMELY IMPORTANT" part of the story that they took out and put it in as DLC? The whole thing about recruiting a new member just sounds like the Zaeed mission in ME2, and that wasn't even very important to the whole plot. You guys are overreacting as usual. Typical.

This squad member is part of one of the most influential and most integral race of beings to ever be apart of the Mass Effect series, and he's only available through a dlc. Not only that, but he's supposed to have unique interactions along with the rest of the crew. Kasumi and Zaeed were different. They were just extra baggage/humans with very little communication with the rest of the crew (They didn't even have any proper dialogue options outside of their loyalty missions...)

You have obviously never played Mass effect if you don't understand the importance and reasoning behind why this character should be a part of the game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You're stupid if you think that. I have played hours upon hours of both ME1 and ME2, with multiple playthroughs of both games. How do we know that this character won't be like Kasumi and Zaeed? Remember the promotions back in the day for Kasumi: Stolen Memory? Remember the ads on sites everywhere that said "hours upon hours of extra gameplay". I bought that shit, and it didn't even last me 1 hour. Worst purchase ever. I don't know about you, but I am sceptical about this so-called "extremely important to the storyline" companion. I bet all he'll do for the general storyline is provide some backstory into the (SPOILERS).

"How do we know that this character won't be like Kasumi and Zaeed?"

Well, for one, the character was to ORIGINALLY BE IN THE F**KING GAME (Edit: Actually, I have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm just taking an educated guess on this). Kasumi and Zaeed was, again, just extra baggage Bioware threw in to extend the play-time of the game.

And two, because this character's importance to the series history is more important than almost any other character in the game. Bioware may be greedy bastards, but I think they know how important this character is compared to two humans.

Do i really need one? Who plans a DLC to be launched on the same day as the actual game and states that it was in no way a part of the original game? Where's the logic in that? That's like saying I baked a cake, took an 1/8 slice out of it, and said that I actually baked the 7/8 of the cake separate from the slice from the beginning.

I guess I could find it (I did see it somewhere in one of the articles, or on the bioware forums), but I'm too tired. I'll tell ya tomorrow.

I was under the impression that this was always planned as an add-on, and wasn't cut out, merely not added in. It's a subtle difference, but it's there.

If Bioware actually planned to not include this character in the game, but instead as a dlc, then I give up on them.

Again, I remember seeing it somewhere, I'll get you the cite later. it may have also been stated in TB's video.

If it's the DLC that you get for buying the game new, then I have no problem with it (like that project 10-dollar) depending on how important it really is (something I don't think anyone here can really say for sure about since it hasn't been released yet). But from the sounds of it it's only free in the collector's edition. That is pretty stupid if you ask me. I think that EA is really the one causing problems. The company has seemed to get worse and worse since EA took it over. Not to mention Origin being mandatory for the multiplayer on EVERY PLATFORM.

Of course it's not like this is the only company to do this. Like that Railworks 3 game had DLC a week before it was released. Enough so that it was more expensive then the actual game.
