I consider MMORPGs a broken genre.

After some patches, Star Wars: The Old Republic. At the beginning it lacked many crucial options, now it's one of the best MMORPGs to play.

War of the Immortals from Perfect World. It's F2P and P2W, but if you're good enough you can win without paying.

P.S. In my opinion, all players that paying a F2P game for win are idiots.

Tabula Rasa was mine as well - never found a game close to it :( - I wish they would open up the game - my girl friend would hate them if they do ;)

I played RuneScape since around 2007 off and on. I don't play it now and hopefully not anymore because it does involve a lot of boring stuff.

Good ol' days of runescape with friends...Now it's completely ruined.
And Guild wars.

I really enjoyed dekaron/2moons before it became p2w and riddled with cheaters, also Vindictus, but got bored around lv 60. Most mmos have these issues, but hopefully I'll find one in this topic that doesn't ^^

Forgot one - Darkeden. Same issues as dekaron though^^

(Pre-NGE) Star Wars: Galaxies

Closely followed by Ragnarok Online and Lineage 2

Star Wars Galaxies - pre NGE, and to a lesser extent, pre CU. :) - had some pretty epic rebel vs. imperial battles back in the day, along with the occasional-to-frequent bounty hunter attacks.

The game was pretty wide open too, so at any moment in the wild you could be hunted down... wish it didn't go kaput :(.

For all its flaws, I still consider pre-AoS Ultima Online to be the best MMO that I've ever played. It gave the player so much more freedom than any other MMO that I've tried, and it was a game that encouraged people to play together in more ways than just "go kill monsters". Also, due to how gear worked in the game, you were not required to dedicate too much of your spare time in order to stay competitive

Guild wars 1 was better from a pure gameplay point of view though, and this is the MMO that I've enjoyed the monster/player killing in the most.

Guild Wars. Haven't tried the 2nd GW though. Most of my friends say GW2 is awesome, but still has some bugs. Which is perfectly fine, the game just got launched, I'm sure they'll patch it.

Lord of the Rings Online. Great universe, fun quests, and enough solo and group things to do to satisfy no matter what social mood you're in.
