LOTRO WOULD be mine, but after level 30 it's all pay to play content, and f2pers have to grind 24/7 to get enough points to unlock some fucking map and quest packs

"Once upon a time, I used to play RuneScape. My feeble little mind found it very interesting! The quests were funny and the character were likeable. Then I got membership in it and a WHOLE new world opened up..."
Flash-forward 10 years.
"What the HELL! Why did I even start playing this piece of crap!? The developers sold their souls to money, the new quests are boring and cliche, hell, the entire game is just GRINDING now that I've done all the quests! I've just been wasting my time on it and didn't even have much fun now that I think about it. But now I'm addicted, because that's what MMOs do. I will quit it though, because no addiction can keep me playing it after what they did for money!"
So to sum it up- all MMORPGs are evil. There is no "best" one. The questions should be "Which is the least bad one?".
Pessimism, yay. :D

The first MMO I ever played was Ragnarok and 7 years later I still see myself going back to it every once in a while. Great memories.

WoW Vanilla and BC. back in the days it took weeks to collect the right equipment to be able to fight some big bosses. epic items were fuckin rare not like today =(

Yeah, reaching the Floating Continent was hard, but i did it. Have many troubles throughout the game: especially that Big Vader who killed me twice! At the start, i got much of shit on my head (blue laser shot me) since i didn't know where to shoot. The second time was the same, but NPC is stupid like hell. At the third time, i asked for help from a American guy (lvl 40), and finally we beat him. 2000xp was a good reward.

I still remember the modding community for PC. That soccer field... good times.

I got me some fond-ass memories of WoWarcraft during the vanilla days.
Also digging the hell out of Guild Wars 2 at the moment. Haven't played enough to know if it compares but I figure if I find the right guild, it's my new love.

Best? I don't know how best is defined. As for the most fun [I've had] is this, a spin off of the original EverQuest released for the PS2 set 500 years before the EQPC. Original EQPC was fun as well, although I only ever got to experience it through the project 1999. WoW was definitely fun as well, can't go wrong with instantiated instances.
Overall I find enjoyment in the first 2-3 months I play in an MMO (mostly since I love exploration and uncovering an entirely new world with every MMO) and most big named MMOs will offer a pretty nice world to get immersed in for a few months :>

Sadly WoW and since then have been trying to find something that had that magic and yet to find it in games that are technically better.
