How do you know so far in advance?
Are other games in the same boat?

this game will be removed on september 2023, its a good idea to take at 80% or maybe wait until 90% aprox in some months..?
Comment has been collapsed.
I was going to wait until the summer sale. I think thats the last possible time they would drop it more then 80% IF they do
Comment has been collapsed.
If by chance it never goes on sale after this, I would be happy enough to get it at 80% now. Can't predict these things but best of luck and hope it continues to go on sale for deep discount after this!

80% off is more than likely the lowest it's going to be on a regular sale without a perk like the ones mentioned on the thread. When it comes to the Marvel IP if you really want the game it's probably a good idea to get it when you can. It is very possible it might not have another sale.

I'm not sure I do, that's the thing. I'm stalling as long as I can and if I miss it, I doubt I'd care much.

Between this and the current Humble Choice I chose this. For $6.21 (on GMG) it's well worth it at 84.47% off.
Tip: If you pay with PayPal, don't forget to pay in the seller's currency and not in your local currency in order to use the card's conversion rates instead of PayPal's and to avoid PayPal's absurd conversion rates.

PSA:
Marvel Avengers: The hidden cost.
If you are on limited bandwidth internet (like many of us on cable are), be warned... this game is almost 100 GB download. So if you blow your cap for the month downloading this game, it may effectively end up costing you much more than $8.
Also, check your system requirements. If you're playing on an aging system (like me), then the game may be unplayable for you until you upgrade (which will cost you even more).
This has been a public service announcement. Thank you.

Campaign is not bad, but is not perfect. Just on the middle. You can check review on youtube without spoilers.

Still hoping for 90% during summer sale. I'll probably grab it then or at the last minute I assume they'll put it on one final sale?
Comment has been collapsed.
its till 29 when summer sale is, i can advice u for better to grab it now and if bicger dicsount will be = refund, im pretty sure it wont have discount on summer sale since it has already, most of games dont have discounts later.
Comment has been collapsed.
It is doubtful that the promotion at 85% which started on June 23 would be replaced by a better promotion on June 29.
However, it is not impossible because it is a big Steam sale:
As per Steam Partner documents, it is not possible to run a discount within 30 days of a prior discount, with the exception of Steam-wide seasonal events.
However discounts for seasonal sale events cannot be run within 30 days of releasing a title, within 30 days from when a launch discount ends, or within 30 days of a price increase in any currency.
What is strange is that the current promotion ends on June 29. I guess it will be prolonged. That being said, it is risk-free to purchase the game on Steam now and ask for a refund in case there is a better promotion. No need for a guess.
SPECIAL PROMOTION! Offer ends 29 June

I'm very susprised that it hit 85% off on a regular sale. I think they'll do what you mentioned and extend the sale past the 29th to the end of the Steam Summer Sale.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's only a $2 difference between 85% off and 90% off for this game. With the game being delisted in September it's possible this may be the last sale. Saving $2 vs the possibly not having another sale doesn't really seem worth it especially if you really want the game.

To those debating whether to get it or not let me steer you in the right direction.
Marvel Avengers is a good game except for the long grind and thus more then frequent repeated mission.
It does a great job of being able to play as each character which their own moves and such, the story isn't bad either, in fact some elements of the story would have been perfect to fit into the MCU (eg. MODOK).
The biggest downfall of Avengers is the grind, and don't think you can use a trainer a cheat ... cause there are 2 level up systems and trainers only work with one. A trainer will level up your XP for skills, but will not assist in the character level up which is tried to the level of your gear. Character level is basically the average of your gear level.
The only way to level up gear is play levels and get gear drops, which are roughly around your character (sometimes slightly lower, sometimes equal and sometime higher ... up to 10 levels higher if extremely lucky). Character level up to 150 is easier but beyond that (up to 180) is much more difficult and will require multiplayer. Since you want your character to level up faster forget about gear stats, it might be great but it will weigh you down, only start collecting gear at 100, then you get upgrade that gear, anything under 100 is useless.
The stuff beyond level 150, you will need multiplayer, the super hard endgame missions require 4 players.
Also there are still a few bugs in the game ... personally the only one that affected me was to do with Black Panther's mission chain, the final step was to sit in the throne ... and guess what ... can't do! Apparently you can join someone else's game and do it but meh, to much trouble.
If you don't mind the above negative things about the game then it is worth the buy, if you stick with the game the price for the amount of hours you will put into it ... worth it!

Just to let you know how bad the grind is in this game: I played it with a trainer for singleplayer and even with everything unlocked (skills, power levels etc) you still have to grind for some things

Wasn't planning on picking this up, but for under three quid can't really go wrong.
Also it's good to help out a small upcoming company like Disney.

I strongly recommend you don't get this game. At least check out the gameplay before buying it because there was very little effort put into this game.

That's the opposite of what most people say, at least among the reviews and discussion threads I've seen in the past, and among those I have been able to dig up just now.
Most people just didn't like the short, misleading initial campaign (being that it mostly acted as a pre-multiplayer tutorial), the cosmetic monetization, initial bugginess, lack of endgame, and how online multiplayer was handled overall. Everyone liked the next two campaigns, and how cosmetics are handled in the game post-cancellation, and all the other issues have been resolved in some way or another (even if that's just by the fact that online multiplayer will no longer be a concern) (with the exception that MMO-esque repetition of environments is still a consideration, and can be viewed disfavorably by some- eg, those that don't just run the story once and then quit).
So without you providing detail (which is something people should really do on such statements, to begin with, outside of the shallowness of social media), it's hard to interpret your comment as being up-to-date.
Not that I have any direct, hands-on insight into the game myself, this is just to note the problem that arises anytime you argue against popular (or at least, easiest to find, so possibly just the loudest) information without providing a clear explanation or justification. As far as your one detail provided, I've never seen anyone complain about the basic gameplay.
In fact, there's an honest-to-goodness meme out there about "the only people that criticize the combat are the people who haven't played the game; it's literally the only good part about the game" [Example thread]. (That meme-like repetition of concept across various threads aside, the narrative is also generally considered favorably, in contradiction to the claim being made there.) Of course, maybe you meant some other part of the gameplay- for example, how basic combos do take a bit to unlock- but.. again, lack of details.
At the very least, gameplay videos have always looked good for the game. Y'know, if you could ignore early iterations dropping players through floors and the like. :P
Well, as a personal complaint, the fact that you have to buy two copies for any kind of multiplayer [ie, not allowing guest versions or local multiplay] is definitely a detriment, but that's an unfortunate design choice many modern developers are going with.
(Which gets really weird with a game like Diablo 1 or Diablo 3, which DID have local multiplay for console releases.)
TL;DR version: See Channel28's comment, above, for the structure of a useful critique. Or even xarabas's comment, which offers both a <what> and a <why>, and not just a <what>, even if the framing is left somewhat unclear.

it only has 65% on recent Steam reviews so it isn't liked that much i guess
