Have you ever met another SGer you've only known through this site in real life?
I have this anxiety of meeting/socialising with anyone, so even thinking of meeting some stranger(depends on how you look at it) from the internet is bad enough for me. I mean, I guess I would be interested in the idea because I feel like I'm one of those people that needs to try new things, etc. but it's such an "out there" thing to do and it gives me shivers just thinking of it. I still have this secret desire to explore and meet different people. Germany is a place I want to visit one day, too. Seems like an amazing country.
However, when I hear stories like yours , I some-what remember that everyone is just another person in the world and if you're able to meet someone over long-distance internet friendships, then awesome. I feel like there's more impact in making friends with random strangers in unique circumstances rather than just some person you see every day at work, a neighbour, etc.
EDIT: Also, I hit 21 this year, so I got the extremely useless benefit of being legal in the US. :P (Drinking, duh.)

Thank you for your lovely and open comment, RobotDeathParty. Being curious is a great point to start when going on adventures, at least it has always been for me. I hope your secret desire will be given a chance to knit it's magic into your life's journey.
And yes, that everyone is just another person in the world is also what I learned past weekend.
Welcome into the world of self-responsible human beings :)

Well, I forgot to mention I live in Canada, so it's 19 over here(18 in Quebec, hah!) but I had an odd sense of "accomplishment" this year, haha.
Yeah, maybe one day I'll be a lot more open and adventurous but I'm currently in the "learning how to begin" process. I still need to actually go out and do stuff. Maybe one day I'll sit around a bonfire and eat burnt tomato sauce pastries. :P

This is pretty cool, I would definitely be up for meeting internet people in real life.

Congrats on all of the milestones eeev! You also passed your cake day and didn't give us another thread :P
AANNNDDD I would love to meet up with everybody, but I'm all the way over in the US. IICRC you were located in Europe somewhere, right? If the gathering ever happens make sure to share lots of pictures with us! :D

Ahaha you know I'm just playing with you. There was one time a year or two ago I did the same thing and just made one thread for 45234545 milestones. I was like, done and mic drop.

Never met anyone from steam or SG in life. Yet (:
I have 14 games more than you, try to catch me

Congrats on those numbers! And thanks for the GAs!
Looks like you had a really nice weekend. I attended several meetings in my MMORPG era, ranging from one to more than ten people, and they were all very interesting. For bigger meetings camping is quite an option, also the combination with the Gamescom was much favoured for such meetings.

It looks like you guys had a blast.
The only poeple from SG I know IRL are people I introduced to the site (my wife and a coworker) And living in a smart french-speaking town in a somewhat remote area doesn't help much with the idea of planning any kind of get together with other SG member.

That looks like it was awesome. A long time ago I used to run an online game and my friend and co-admin spontaneously decided to drive to NYC and meet up with some of the players. It was exciting and fun (maybe a little too much alcohol was involved as well). That was many years ago though. Now I seldom venture outside my town, so you'd have to come visit me. :3

Oh wow! skanda, how warm and intimate. I never managed to maintain a deep close relationship to a person I've never talked to in person/ only known online. Communicating only through technology makes humans less apperceptive to me somehow. The lack of all the sensual impressions makes it feel all less real to me.

Looks like a real fun event :D If i may recommend some "mood" music myself - Sun Kill Moon - Alesund

Ahhh that's so cool, sounds like loads of fun! Bonfires are the best. :D
I'd be super anxious and awkward, but if I knew the people ahead of time I can see it being really chill and fun. Not SG related, but I almost met a group of friends (who all knew each other irl) I'd met over LoL and would talk to daily. I was travelling through their city to go to a hospital a few states away, but it wasn't the best timing. Kinda sad it never worked out, but who knows what the future holds. :) Nothing better than hanging out with people who like the same stuff you do!

Great story! :) I never personally met anyone from SG, but I did meet my future wife in The Secret World MMO. She lives on the other side of the planet from me :o

It's difficult for me to visit her, since I'm on welfare here in Denmark, so money is tight. But luckily, she has a very helpful family, and an amazing boss, that allows her to visit me 6 months a year. It's the absolute best case scenario until she can move here :)

I'll share the secret. Uhm, yeah well, the noodles were cooked inside, but we fried the minced meat and veggies to become tomato saucy juice noddle topping on massive embers of the fire in my big wok and poured the noodles over it when they were ready.

Love is a very strong word, but it was definitely refreshing in contrast to the dense city. Been a couple of years since I sat at a campfire, so that was definitely worth the 6 hour trip down there. :)

Dear SG,
I've been lazy. I guess I have to face the fact that my Momma has always been right. Yeah. I'm lazy.
1000 games given away passed by like a breeze. 2000 games on Steam milestone day came and went (I was a bit shocked about the amount of games I had amassed, that was another reason nothing happened), 7 years on Steam birthday went by without celebration, 7777 games hidden even went unnoticed although I had it in the back of my head. So yeah well, SG. I did nothing but lurking in the past months.
But now the time has come, spring is on our doorsteps, to awaken our spirits anew and breathe some life back into this community!
I have a story to share! Last weekend DownwardConcept decided to get into a bus and drive down here to meet up with Paxnit and me! :D
This was the first time for me to meet a person I had only known through the internet and I found this to be so exciting. He arrived on a sunny Saturday afternoon and stayed till Monday. On Saturday we had some homemade pizza at Paxnit's place, followed by gaming, drinking beer and rum and listening to awesome music. We took the guy out to show him around our area the next day, we were lucky, it was sunny, and I think he fell in love with the place (let me know if I got the wrong impression, DC!), just as we love our homecountry :D
After that we went to my place, made a bonfire, had some more beer and music, made spaghettis on the fire and talked and laughed all night long. See pictures for impressions (and really sorry all you curious folks out there, none of us really was a foto person ;P). Right on Monday evening I became sick, must have caught a cold somewhere during the weekend, so that's why this thread comes with a week of delay also.
Whadd'ya think, SG, about a big gathering of as many of us as possible? That'be so great! Because now I want to meet you all great people!
I have some games to share as well and as I became tired of a trains I'll just post them here. Originally I wanted to do a puzzle, but this will have to wait till next time, it's late.
