Are you the Humblest Sekaiist on this V-Day?
I'm occasionally tempted to buy VN's on sale, and thought about buying the $1 tier for fault, because it's highly rated. Then I looked at gameplay on YouTube and decided not to. I really can't relate to childish characters. It's unfortunately a problem of a lot of Japanese stuff.

Hi, came across your thread and I guess I can add some recs:
Narcissu (any): characters may look childish but for a reason - no spoiler- and they don't act so.
Lucy -The Eternity She Wished For- : good intro for typical high-rating VN that aint boob-fanservice
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc: dynamic gameplay and art w/ excellent plot
All above are Overwhelmingly Positive on steam too ;)

Ended up playing some Narcissu 1st. Chose the first translation (I have no idea what the difference between them is). The writing indeed feels better, but far as I got into it (which was somewhere in the prologue), it's just reading text line by line, pressing enter between them, and frankly reading a book is more comfortable and would go much faster for this text. (And there was still excessive use of ellipses, although not as bad as in other titles.)

Thanks for the Lady Storyteller reference. What I got from looking at her list was that I need to play Kathy Rain, which I had installed and started but stopped early on, as happens with many games.
That led me to thinking that, instead, perhaps it's about time that I played Edna and Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes, which I won about 5 years ago. So I installed and started it, and I've got to say that just the intro and tutorial gave me more pleasure than any start of a VN likely ever would.
So my conclusion was: stick to adventure games. My personal favourite serious adult games are the Blackwell adventure games. Really, I have a lot of adventure games I've yet to finish or start, and while I'm sure a VN is easier to get through, I enjoy adventure game writing a lot better, at least with my VN limited experience.
(BTW, playing Harvey's New Eyes isn't going to be listed on my account, because I happened to start playing it on another account with Steam Family Sharing. Which might rub some SG people the wrong way. :)

I've done some escape rooms IRL, with my family, though the few escape games I played felt inferior to the hidden object adventures I've played. One which was nice because it was also a game/movie hybrid was MISSING: An Interactive Thriller - Episode One.
I backed The House of Da Vinci on Kickstarter. Started playing it on Android but got stuck early on (felt like a bug). Might play it again at a later date.

Got a reply from Steam support that Missing isn't available on the store. Looking at SteamDB it looks like that's indeed the case: It's listed by has no price for any region.
Edit: On the developer's Facebook page there's a message from the 25th of May 2016 that the company is closing and due to legal reason they're removing the game from stores. I'm glad I managed to get it during the short time is was available. (I bought it on both Steam and Google Play.)

Aaaaaaand the second tier bonus game is Highway Blossoms.
Meh. But overall a good deal anyway.

"One More game will be added to this bundle next Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time!"
I guess it was a Humble typo. ;-)

I was a little sad that there was only one bonus unlock, and that it was a game I owned already. On the upside, though, I really enjoyed that game and now I can give it away to someone else who hopefully will enjoy it just as much c:

I've beaten some so I can chime in.
Root Double is the best out of those tiers. It has multiple endings, the longest of them all.
Liberation Day is also good, but you might want to read its previous game first (free on Steam).
Fault milestone 1+2 leave reader in a cliffhanger. It's a text based so you only need to read

Thanks for the additional input.
In this type of games so far, I've played and enjoyed 'Tokyo Dark', for its variety of endings (11 in total) depending on your choices and actions. Root Double looks like it may be even better.
What's 'Liberation Day' predecessor? Sunrider Academy? I was actually thinking of trading or giving these away tbh, I don't care for strategy games, and these seem to feature strategy elements quite heavily. Or am I wrong?
