i figure to get most out of my backlog of games and my moneys worth that maybe i should try to 100% complete the achievements on my games.

  1. does this make it more fun and worthwhile?
  2. does it help you enjoy a game that is shit?

I play the game for achievements. Today, i can't play on a game if achievements aren't included.
It's my favorite hobbie. Play and Unlock !
I have 4678 achievements today and completed 45 games to 100%.
Yeah I have bought secret of magic cristal only for achievements. :x

Depends on the game. Like... I know I'll never have 100% of the Killing Floor achievements. I'm okay with that.

  1. yes, sometimes it does. Some Achiees are like little additonal missions.
  2. no. A bad game is still a bad game (Alien Breed Trilogy)

Think if you really enjoy the game go for all the achievements (Torchlight is my current achievement goal before I start the 2nd). Personally I almost never go for the multiplayer achieves as I prefer solo gaming unless the game is specifically for multi (TF2 for example). Saying that if you do decide to go for maximum achievements check out others who have already completed them in case they are too grindy etc.

I almost never 100% games. I play as long as it is fun and that's it then. Apart from LEGO Batman 2, that I wanted to 100% :P

Achievments are terrible. There are not that many challenging achievments.

When I'm playing a game, having fun is the most important thing, earning achievements is secondary to that. If I like a game, I want to experience everything it has to offer to me, that includes getting the achievements. Hunting for achievements can even bring new elements of enjoyment to an already enjoyable game. If I don't like a game all that much, I usually don't even bother trying to get 100% achievements, especially if they're really difficult of frustrating to get.

Achievements... Such a stupid name.. Mastering a musical instrument, learning to solve a rubix cube in less than a minute, raising a child, completing Dark Souls(Damn right!), understanding the full anatomy and physiology of our human bodies.

These are all achievements. "You completed the tutorial!!" is not.

I think there are many good reasons for playing games, but I don't count "achievement hunting" as one of them. Still, to each his own.

No. I think about 40% or more of achievements are for either OCD people or people who game all day every day and never leave their room ;)
Seriously, some achives are just pointless ^^

  1. yeah, probably if the game is short, is good to go hunt some achivments
  2. nope, if the game is SHIT, is shit... nothing changes that

but in otehrs words, the achi9vment are something extra to me... like multiplayer, is not a reason that make me buy or not buy a game.

I never go for 100% except for a few exceptions: Lego games, and I am very close to getting 100% for Binding of Isaac

I try to but when the remaining achievements are nothing more than a question of grinding (which happens frequently) then it's not particularly fun at all.

I'm more likely to play a game that's... "not good" if it has achievements but the amount of additional enjoyment that achievements provide to a poor game is minimal.
