First of all, use this to filter them out if you don't like it: http://www.steamgifts.com/forum/ba6uc/sg-enhancement-addon
Second, when you activate the ship on your account, it spawns 2 more free copies in your inventory to give away. What else are you supposed to do with them?
Third, every ship giveaway on here seems to have hundreds of entries, so I assume people want them. Not everybody gets a free copy.
Fourth, nobody cares about you being a douche by removing a Skyrim giveaway except maybe the people you screwed by removing it. In my opinion, creating a Skyrim giveaway, letting it run for 2 days and letting hundreds or thousands of people thank you for it and get their hopes up, then removing it at the last minute because other people are giving away a game you don't want is worse than giving away extra gift copies of a game you won for free.

The cancer callers are usually the root of cancer in cases like this.
The entire system is flawed in the sense that such actions are encouraged and nothing can be done about it. I would imagine it could be a little 'better' without contributor stats, but that is impossible now.
Besides, why would you care? Do you desire to feel 'special' so much that you feel threatened by the onslaught of 'cheap' giveaways? Grow up, you're not unique or special, nobody is. Right now you're just being an attention whore.

Your not wrong by any means. I don't need to prove something right when it's not right at all. But the way you worded the entire article just seemed so negative and angry that you're bound to get angry remarks. You need to chill it out and write a more constructive article next time so people don't get this angry tone from your writing.
On the topic of dropping the giveaway, I agree that now isn't the time to be giving away games with this influx of the ship. Let it settle down and let everyone burn the hell outta their points and try again another day. You don't have to if you don't want to it's your game, but this is a community of giving and recieving and people don't want a game from a guy who is going to cuss them out for joining a free giveaway.

You could always suggest to the admins to pool The Ship along with those other pay-what-you-want-bundles games.
That way people can still make giveaways, people still win freebies, and the contributor system won't be so abused.

...goes to show I should look before I leap.
Then in this case, I don't see the issue... other than the website load (which I assume it's partially The Ship to blame) and it being kind of annoying to browse them giveaways.

This will most certainly help enhance your giveaway browsing experience. :P

Is nobody else going to call Mewster out on the fact that he tried to regift Guns of Icarus Online from that massive giveaway a little while ago?

Or how about the fact that this guy spouting that there's a cancer killing /b/,--er, I mean SG, only has a single game given away, and has only been here three months, thus having no idea what SG is really like.

In that case, don't complain. You should have been banned.
Whiny twerp.

Honestly, all these threads whining about The Ship giveaways are far more annoying than the giveaways themselves. I can hide the giveaways with one click, but these shitty threads keep popping up.
Besides, bundle keys and "abused" keys like The Ship already give greatly reduced rewards, so if you're buttmad about people getting more "credit" for their cheap games than you do for less cheap games (as if it's a contest, which is a lame notion anyway) you can calm down already.

As long as they ain't breaking any rules - does it really matter where or how they got the games they are giving away? I don't really care what people put up for grabs as someone out there will surely want them anyways. I actually see it as a good thing since I've been wanting to play The Ship without actually buying it. Also, more points for everyone!
Besides, with the setup the site-admin made on how contributor points is calculated - they'd have to put up something that isn't part of bundles, giveaways, or exploited keys (and at least a total of 80$?) in order for them to get the full contributor value from their Ship giveaway.
@Thread-starter: If you really care that much about your contributor value, then go sell your Skyrim 40$ and go buy 4 sets of Amazon's Square Bundle. That'll give you at least 100 points and nobody will complain because those games are very good. (not really nobody, people who care much about contributor values will... like, say... thread starter?)

See those asterisk on the drop down list when you try to make a giveaway for it? It means points for it are calculated like it was a bundle game.
Seriously, people should stop bitching about The Ship. Those giving them away will need to give something that isn't marked as bundles/giveaways/exploits to make use of the contributor points anyways... And if they do give out something not part of bundles/giveaways/exploits, then THAT'S EVEN BETTER!

While I can see your point, I just won a copy of the ship (I didn't have it and wanted it), and have created 2 new giveaways off the back of that fact. I wasn't thinking about how the giveaway copy was earned, I just wanted the game and was pleased it was being offered. If people have extra copies of a game that other people want, it might encourage the winner (as in my case) to give away more sought after games and thus be beneficial even for those people who loathe the fact that The Ship is being offered here at all.

(Yes, I'm obviously talking about The Ship.)
I was giving away a Skyrim code till a few minutes ago, after a 2 days giveaway.
Then I deleted it.
Why?
Because of The Ship.
But most of all, because of the people here.
If this were a "fair" place, where people would give away games they won, they bought, they received, to random people, I wouldn't have done it.
But here people just spammed their The Ship key, just to get more "contributions" on their stats.
Why the hell should I give away a 60$ worth game, while everyone here just press a "SEND ME THE GODDAMMIT KEY FOR ME TO RESEND", whitout probably even looking at what are they "receiving"?
I just cancelled a giveaway I was proud of.
Now I'm more proud I decided to stay with the ones with less (but really earned) contributions.
My only one was a Rome Total War key, BUT GODDAMMIT I BOUGHT IT, EVEN FOR 1$ BUT I DID IT.
I don't know what happens to the ones cancelling expected giveaways, but I'm not regretting it, whatever should happens.
The most interesting thing is that, of all the people who decided to "give away their earned game", probably none won't ever look at this.
Prove me wrong.
