When I was born here in Italy we didn't vaccinate for what we called 'infectious diseases' (they are actually a subset of diseases like measles, chickenpox, mumps... which includes whooping cough), I caught it at 3 so I was too young to recall but my mother told me it was pretty bad, so nice to hear that your were able to minimize the impact - apart from your ribs :) - expecially on the kids.

It's summer time and the pools are finally open but can we go...no. Despite the whole family being vaccinated (please no debates) we managed to get whooping cough. I had a coughing fit or combo of fits that were so bad that the doc says I separated two ribs on my left side. This is painful but more so when you have two kids who don't understand not to crawl on you, jump on you, or even hug you two hard lol. So my week has been spent taking and giving steroids, antibiotics, and breathing treatments. Did you know when you test positive for whooping cough the CDC personally calls you to get a list of public places you have been in the last two weeks? I was thrown off but after they explained they take it seriously because it stills kills many children who are too young to be vaccinated and the elderly who can't fight it off. Apparently there is an outbreak in the northern part of my state right now so we probably just picked it up on a shopping cart unfortunately. Luckily my kids are out of school and do not go to daycare or any camps so they didn't have to rush to notify alot of parents.
Anyway I know you are only here for the TRAIN.
